A PS3 recently sold for $3200 on eBay.

Great deal. For all 20 people that fall in line Thursday to be able to jump on it :b

Update 1

Update 2

I doubt you will find 2 bundles at any given store the latest rumor is that Sony might only ship 200,000 systems on launch day. If that is true some people that pre-ordered might be out of luck. If I got my hands on one it'd be on eBay as soon as I got home. People are sheep and will pay obscene amounts of money well over double retail price just to get the latest gadget.

Link to article about possibly only 200,000 units being available.Link

Also comes with a second free Bluray disc. (EDIT: seems only the Downers Grove store has this free BD promo)

I'd say that considering the price Fry's may be the only place to get the console on Friday. Most people won't want to spend this much on introduction day...

Yea the units were cut by a lot and then rumors spread about a bigger cut.
Anyways EBgames called me about my pre-order and said they will be getting 10. They better be getting 10, because i'm number 7 or 8.

If you don't plan on keeping it, this is money well-spent. A $1400 Wal-Mart bundle went on sale yesterday and sold out in 30 seconds.

You think that's bad... three days before IKEA in Round Rock opened, people were camped out in line. The weird part is that IKEA was only giving away a chair to the first 100 customers, not a huge gift certificate like other grand openeings.

Karnivore said: [Q]Games can be returned, right?

this is a good deal... i might be in for 2... u can always flip the system for 1200 then sell 8 games at 50 a piece

I don't see how 1000-1400 bucks for a gaming console is a good deal.

good luck getting hte ps3 waiting for less than 24 hours. this morning a few hours ago, i drove by best buy and i see a line of tents, than i pass fry's and theres another line there with like 30 people..

How many of them didn't look like gamers? At least we don't have to contend with "Yakuza" resellers:
Kotaku acticle on Japanese PS3 release. Old Japanese men working for resellers

"At the worldwide sales debut of PlayStation 3, Sony's newest console attracted dozens of media outlets and thousands of people willing to camp outside overnight for a chance to score the 60,000 yen game system.

Minutes before the clock struck 7:00 A.M. and Sony's new PlayStation 3 console would officially go on sale, a company representative addressed the crowd of media and the new face of early bird game console buyers - Chinese nationals.

"Everybody, the PlayStation 3 is the door to a new world of interactive entertainment," the spunky Japanese rep trumpeted as SCE CEO Ken Kutaragi joined her on stage.

Unfortunately for her and the rest of the Sony entourage, the men and women standing patiently in the front of the line either didn't understand what she was saying, or didn't care - the first buyers of PS3 were largely elderly Chinese men and young Chinese women with shaky Japanese language skills.

This became readily apparent when Kutaragi welcomed the first official PS3 owner on stage for an on-spot interview. A 26-year-old Chinese man politely stood on stage while the organizers earnestly tried to squeeze some information him.

Questions like "When did you start lining up?" and "What games will you buy?" were left unanswered as the young man shook his head, refusing (or unable) to respond. The Japanese media would later catch up with him, confirming suspicions that the first PS3 buyer didn't understand Japanese. An eyewitness claimed the young man didn't purchase a single game for his brand-new PS3.

This is the true face of the PlayStation 3 debut in Japan. Hardcore gamers are not here waiting in line overnight, buying a first-run PS3, and running home to play some good old next-gen gaming. Rather, opportunistic Japanese businessmen have the largest presence, hiring poor Chinese men and women to wait in line for a PS3, one which will later be sold on web auctions to wealthy gamers around the world for exorbitant amounts of money."

Fry's may not be having this deal after all...

Retail Memo: Sony Limiting PS3 Launch to Top 5 Stores

If avoiding the big retail chains and trying the smaller stores was part of your strategy to get a PS3 at launch, think again. We've discovered via a retail memo that Sony is limiting its initial shipments to the top five retailers. More within...

It's already a given that Sony's PlayStation 3 will be in extremely limited supply when it launches on November 17. Now, however, it seems that your chances of getting the new console at anywhere but the biggest retail chains will be essentially zero around launch.

GameDaily BIZ has obtained a memo from a small retail chain called Rhino Video Games—headquartered in Florida and operates about 75 stores in ten states—indicating that Sony won't be sending the retailer any PS3 units to sell at launch because it's limiting shipments to the top five retailers.

The memo, sent from Rhino headquarters to all stores, reads in part, "Unfortunately, Sony will not be fulfilling our order requests for PS3 hardware to be available on launch date, November 17th. Sony has decided to limit the supply of hardware (systems and accessories) to its top five volume retailers (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.)."

It's not clear who these top five retailers are, but in addition to the abovementioned Wal-Mart and Target, we would guess Best Buy, GameStop/EB and Circuit City. Recently, Amazon.com backed out of offering any PS3 pre-orders, while Fry's Electronics cancelled some of its pre-orders and GameStop admitted that it would not be able to fill all of its pre-orders.

The Rhino memo is further backed by a statement on the company's website, which reads: "Unfortunately, due to industry-wide extreme hardware allocations imposed by Sony, Rhino will not be receiving any PS3 systems on launch day, November 17th. We want to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Sony has simply been unable to meet demand for this product. Sony has informed us that limited quantity shipments of PS3 hardware should be available over the next couple of weeks and will be available on a first come/first serve basis."

The memo adds to that, explaining, "First and foremost, this will be a stressful time for customers as systems will be hard to find. Remember to be patient with all customers and encourage them to take advantage of our system in stock guarantee. While it isn't definite, Sony has informed us that PS3 hardware should be available the week after Thanksgiving. Recommend to all customers that they call back often to check availability."

We contacted Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) about the retail order situation. However, SCEA wouldn't confirm or deny the information found in the memo. A spokesperson simply told us, "We do not disclose retailer allocations."

Amazing? More like Pathetic. I can see waking up 5 hours in advance to sell on eBay and profit 1200, cuz for most that would be more than what they make an hour. But to wait 4 days, whether it is for eBay profit or pure "I love ps3" fanaticism (sp?) is sad. Just sad.

ps: we don't need you to sign your name again, we already see it on the left, k thx

regardless of all the speculation on availability, this deal does not belong in hot deal forum simply b/c the bundle is priced at regular retail price total with ZERO DISCOUNTS. In fact, it's a rip off, forcing ppl to buy all the games in the bundle b/c Frys knows ppl will buy it any way.

NOT A DEAL. It's a rip off.

would is be on the outpost.com
we don't have frys here in alabama

If they are hired by some business men, why not sell the PS3 themselves to make more profit?

Do you think all campers in the US are hardcore gamers? I think 90% of them are fleabayers.

There was a line outside my target this Wednesday morning.

It will be on outpost.com in Dec. 2007. Now? Not a chance in hell.

Pathetic.

School is in session.
There are no holidays.

These people are trash who should be in school or working. (And don't give me the nonsense that maybe they are independently wealthy. If that were true, they wouldn't be waiting in a line outside of a store.)

That leaves out Toys R Us, so I'm not really buying the "Top 5" thing. Oh, and Costco.
