Guys...LCD TV's don't use bulbs. Neither do Plasmas. You will never have to buy a bulb for this TV. I would seriously suggest doing some more research before your next purchase. It always helps to know what you're buying.

but to each his own.

This also happened to my cousin. They had a camera for like $150, when my cousin refused warranty or accessories package, miraculously it was sold out.

Are you sure you are talking about the Version 3 1080P 8ms 37" Westinghouse? I know that version 1 and 2 of this monitor is considerably cheaper. I have been following prices for version 3 for months, including J&R and this is by far the best price I have ever saw this tv on sale for. The cheapest I saw J&R on the version 3 was something like $1069 and they quickly changed it back to $1169 claiming price mistake.

Thank you, that is good to know for the future.

probably you are right. In Cumparsita's post, he said he got supposedly the last one at East Brunswick store at 6pm. But I was there around 7pm and they told me they still have it. Also, the sales person was a little pushy. Overall, I didn't like the feeling I had in the store, so I left.
However, if you could get one, it is an excellent deal for sure. As for myself, I had terrible experience before in regarding to a defective HDTV and since then became extremely causious about these things.

I dont understand this Arthurking, they might have been trying to avoid selling it to you - because my receipt clearly says that they will service and replace if they cant fix (within the first 30 days of purchase), with a same model lcd tv. Another shady thing here-- bummer.

Definetely, Eric1285, thanks for your advise. It helps to know what are we buying.

I decided this purchase today, first time I am buying a tv in many years.
Salesman #1, (pretty aggressive) at the store that was OOS, went straight to the light bulbs and told me I needed to buy bulb replacements, even though he had no TV in stock!! I didn't know that this tv needed them, but this guy created the doubt. Of course I didn't buy anything there.

Salesman #2, at the store that I bought, wanted to sell me: a dvd player, the $100 cable, and the 2 year warranty, and specifically mentioned: for when you need to replace the bulbs, they come to your house to replace them. Yeah, right, like I was born yesterday. This one was very persistant, but I declined, and said look, this unit comes with 1 year manufacturing warranty, in 1 year I'm planning to buy the latest plasma and I'll come see you, give me your card, OK?

We know they work on commission, but...give me a break!! Trying to sell useless, unnecessary bulbs to people, come on!!

Mr.jkelly, thank you so much for your reply!! The warranty I think was about $134 per year, but I am not sure because I wsn't interested. Every single warranty that I bought in my life I never used, for personal things, and for my business.
Next for me, trying to find my cable. Thanks for the info.

Arthurking: I had the same feeling. I felt uneasy with this store. No returns.
I am not a return kind of person, but is good to know that the possibility exists.
When I was driving back, with the TV in my truck, I was happy that I've got it, but...at the same time I almost wanted to cry, I don't know why. Probably because I don't know if I've made the right decision. But now it's done. No way back, and I'm confident that I'm going to love it.

You are getting a Brand New Factory sealed unit warrantied by the manufacturer for 1 year. Most retailers these days do not accept returns on LCD TVs, and ask you to direct your concerns to the manufacturer. In this instance, Westinghouse is a reputable company and you should have no problems from their tech support or after sales service, if the unit is faulty for any reason.

As to EE in East Brunswick, NJ, all I showed them was the ad from their circular and told the sales rep that I wanted this particular unit. He fed my info into the computer, gave me a slip with the order # and asked me to pay the cashier. He did not try to sell me anything else. No cable or warranty.

Will post further comments when I actually set up the TV. Kinda busy for the next few days.

PS: I am not affiliated with EE or Westinghouse in any way whatsoever. Just trying to give back to fellow fatwalleters what I always receive from you guys(Good advise).

I kept my eye on this tv since this post started, I mentioned it to my wife and she shot it down.. Well she wanted to get our daughter the Best Buy BF laptop so we drove by just before 9pm Wednesday night and there was already 8 people on line, so I jumped out of the car with a little jacket on and was # 9 on line. Well to make a long story short I sat on the damn line all night (I got both laptops and the desktop) and this morning I called the Paramus store and when they said they had 6 in stock I jumped in my truck drove 70 miles and bought the sucker.. The place was pretty busy and it took about 3 mins for salesman to come help. I mentioned the service plan and I played stupid and asked about the lamp coverage. He clearly said to me, this monitor does not require the lamp. I passed on the service plan and he re-offered it for I think $50 less (I still passed on the plan). I just got home, been a long day, I ran to Timewarner swaped my DVR for a HD DVR and then ran back to BB and bought a HDMI cable (think I am going to order one online and return this one). I just got the TV set up and I have to say it looks great. The only issue I had was sound (I had to put the DVR box on HDMI audio output). for $800 I think this was a steal, I almost got Best Buy price match the TV but the GM (wtf was she doing there on a Saturday?) walked over wanted to make sure they didn't price match a 2 day special. So it may be worth the shot trying to get your local Best Buys to PM this prior to making the trip. I will post updates after watching it.

Nice on the Best Buy deals - I went at 5 am, that place was a zoo, I did not go near it, I am shocked that you were able to get any of the BF deals from that place.

Nice deal on the Westy - I hope your wife does not kill you.

Was this deal only for BF, or valid for the BF weekend? I just saw this and wouldn't mind trying to jump on the deal. Thanks!

My experience with EE is not that great. If you see it on the floor for a good price, great, otherwise, thread lightly.

Last year i got to the store in paramus to pick up a vcr/dvd combo, ad said minimum 500, i got there 8 am, and they said they were sold out.

Todays sales paper said it was there after Thanksgiving day week long sale. I might take a ride down there and check er out.

OK boys, here is the deal: this was in the Electronics Expo's flyer that came in the today's (11/26) Star Ledger:

Flyer's title: AFTER THANKSGIVING WEEK LONG SALE!
Westinghouse LVM37W3
37: Widescreen High Definition Flat Panel LCD Monitor
Full 1920 x 1080p resolution

Regular...$1,299 SALE: $ 795
Limit one per family.

In the flyer's back page says: valid 11.25.06 to 12.02.06

This store has only 6 stores in NJ and that's it: East Brunswick, Succasunna, Wayne, Paramus, Raritan and Woodbridge.
I have the addresses, hours and phone numbers, if anyone is interest I'll post them.

Bought this from the Raritan store, it was a very easy transaction. Went at lunch time, the store was pretty empty, I found the 37, a sales guy came around, I said I'll take it, and I was out. No pressure on the extras, though I did ask about them (to check the prices). A 3 yr warranty was $139 and the 2 yr was $89, though I passed on both.

Could someone post a scan of the ad? Would be greatly appreciated...

Just picked up one at the East Brunswick store. They still had 1 available.
