This deal is hot for owners of small commercial or hobbyist websites that wish to use pay per click advertising to promote their site. Microsoft is offering a $200 voucher for new accounts in the US only. You have to put a $5 deposit (similar to Adwords) to open a new account.
You have to enter the code DM-2-1106 when you sign up; I just did it and the $200 credit showed up instantly in my profile.
This is HOT for small fries websites that otherwise can't afford to do much in advertising.

Thanks OP. I'll have to research how to use this, but I definitely need advertisting for my small business. Is this an effective way to get listed on search engines?

To appear in the natural listings, no.
You'll only appear on the search engines via an ad (although you'll drop off when your daily budget is reached)
elderlu said: Wow, this is HOT. Thanks. Google offers $50 and so does Yahoo. 200 is out of the park. However, it's not as good but still! it's cheap. Can you explain the google & yahoo $50? I missed those are they still doing it?
I have used adcenter for several months and I have to say I am not that impressed with the results but for that price its a bargain. I also use yahoo and google.

Crazy Hot. Thanks OP.
Just a heads up, signup did NOT work for me using Firefox (page wouldn't display right). Thank God for IE Tab.

REMEMBER to enter the code! I forgot to and just lost $5. I signed up a second time using different email and the $200 is not showing up. Maybe I lost $10
Awesome! Thanks for the great deal. Its very slow right now though. May be FW effect.

does the $200 credit expire? nm foundf it * Promotional Guidelines: Offer valid only through 1/15/07 (midnight Pacific Time). Promotional credit is valid only for new advertisers opening a new account with Microsoft® adCenter. The $200 promotional credit does not apply to the one-time $5 activation fee required to open a new account. Promotional credit must be fully redeemed in click spend within 90 days of sign-up. Advertisers will be charged for advertising that exceeds the $200 promotional credit. Advertisers will need to suspend their ads if they do not wish to receive additional charges beyond the free credit amount, or after 90 days from sign-up. Promotional credit good only to residents in the 50 United States and Washington, D.C. Limit: one promotional credit per customer. Promotional credit may not be combined with any other offer or discount, separated, redeemed for cash, transferred, sold, or bartered. There is a minimum bid requirement of $0.05 per clickthrough. Search listings are subject to editorial review. See Advertiser Terms and Conditions for more details at sign-up. Other terms and conditions may apply.
1) after the account is created, go to "Account and billing" then "billing" -- This will show you if the credit showed up on the account or not $200 buckeroonies.
2) There it will also state that the expiration date is 2/4/2007. As shown above, this is because "Promotional credit must be fully redeemed in click spend within 90 days of sign-up."
3) Yes, my account says "pending credit check" as well. I am assuming that just means that the credit card is processed successfully.
Yes, I am set for pending credit check as well. BTW, it is VERY EASY to miss to the spot to enter the promotional campaign code. I missed it myself. I am writing support to see if it can be manually added. What threw me was language that suggested coupon codes were much longer, say 16 digits, instead of DM-2-1106.
Only thing I don't get is why the 2/4 date for expiry when that's only about 2 months from signup. I got in this but it took a month to sort the ads out and now I have to blow the whole $200 in one month - which is only feasible is I blow through it by trying to bid for #1 which I don't really wan't/need to do. Anyone get an extension?
