OPs addtion: Uou need ATA box and broadband in India. ALL VOIP providers will serve this way (though you have to take care of ATA and broadband yourself). Low cost examples are: Vonage, ViaTalk, Lingo , VBuzzer, VOIPBuster and numerous others. Voxilla is an authentic source for comparing VOIP providers

Thanks OP. Great topic.

Airtell looks good for now but I am not able to sign up even after saveral attempts.
Its down now. What the heck they thought when they released their site May be making fun out of us by having very little bandwith.

Thank you OP!! Definitely green for ur efforts.

Hi
Continuing with the same topic abt calling india ... i am not sure how many of yall use VOIP solutions to call home like Vonage, etc
I use a service called tringotel (TringoTel) thats VOIP based, it gives u a USA number to use in India and charges only 6$ a month for unlimited incoming and 100 minutes outgoing ...
the quality is good, there is no delay or lag ....

though would just share it with yall\\

Not sure?! How is this different from all other voips?
e.g.
Get SR for $199/2 years
1. $8.3/mo
2. Get $3.00 international call credit.
3. Free equip + free s/h

Of course you need to wait for the deal.

Thanks OP.
For me it looks like 'Relaible Calling 7.5c/minute Reliable Calling ' is the better one.. no wait for registration, and good quality(just made only one call though) for reasonable rate. Tried to register for airtel , but could not get the customer agent after trying for an hr.. stana card sucks in quality..

Also reliance has the following celebration offer unti jan 31st:

The Reliance India Call Celebration Offer

calls now made to India benefits
Reliance network (93 mobile, land line & FWP numbers) 7.4 cents
other networks 7.9 cents
prepaid customer - 1st two recharges double talktime
pay after use customer 50% discount on monthly bill

Double talk time for first two recharges until jan 31st...

Thanks OP! Good effort to put every thing at one place!

Has anyone tried Pingo?

I am using Pingo since 2 months and liked the service....good part is signup bonus...i got like close to 4 $25 restaurant gift cards till now for 4 new accounts.

vissu19 said: I have been using www.teliage.com for the past five months and I can say their service is better than reliance india. It works just like reliance - u can setup multiple phone numbers for pinless dialing. You can also setup shortcuts for frequently called numbers. They charge around 8.4c/min during day time and 7.4c for offpeak hours (I think its 12AM to 7AM CST).

from reliance thread; link

Thanks for the efforts OP!!

Stanacard rate changed to 0.078 for India. They are the easiest to dial and setup. I will try to check teliage.com

Stanacard also gives sign up bonus.

I noticed that Pingo India calling card rates is now 7.6 cents a min. Also if you link to Pingo.com and email link@freeautobot.com. You'll recieve a free $5 phone card to try Pingo w/0 having to put in your credit card.

I am confused about Pingo link $5 bonus. Can you give more details, please?

Wow, Mr. Stink...! Did you have to express yourself?!!

Saw today email from Reliance on double talk time type offer on Valentine day.

Why not talkloop at 7.5 cents/min?

Hey waltmil and the rest of the forum deal crew,

sorry i didn't get back to you, i haven't been on the site for a while and just went back on to buy some flowers. I tried the trick to start the check out process to put in your email and see if they send you an offer to buy when you don't complete the order. but that didn't work and i can't get in trouble for vday for forgetting to send flowers.

So back to your question, Pingo has a page that helps explain this free offer better at. http://www.Pingo.com/en/freeinternationalcallingcards.do but basically you get a $5 phone card to try Pingo without having to buy anything. you just need to post a link from your website or blog to Pingo.com

take care!

Link to Pingo for a free International calling card online good for more than 4 hours of free prepaid calling card time! Link your website up today at www.Pingo.com/freeinternationalcallingcards.do

Mind your language.... if you are not Indian, it doesn't mean you can insult it....

I got an email today from WQN saying they are slashing their rates to 7.9 cents/ min to India. Looks like a good deal. I am still gonna stick with Airtel. I like their quality and the fact that they started this thing.....

Does anybody know of a calling card company that offers unlimited calling to any one number in India for a flat fee? I remember having seen such an ad sometime back, but can't recollect it now. Any experience with such a service?

Sure there is such a service called "www.mpingi.com" . This offers unlimited calls for $34.95/ month. I have seen their ads running on Zee-TV all the time.

Has anyone tried this service ?

The $34.95 plan offers unlimited domestic calling, and unlimited calling to any one MPINGI number in India. This is not really good unless you need domestic calling and have a MPINGI number in India. Is there any other service that can be used for unlimited calling to any one phone number in India only?

I have been using Stanacard.com (7.8c/min, minute rounding) to call India. Quality seems to be pretty good. I signed up using someone's referral and they gave me $20 credit for my $10 purchase. Is there anything better than this? I am nearing the end of my promo credit, so I am trying to decide whether to add more money or not. I know a lot of people use reliance. Is it that good? Is there something better/cheaper? Fiance is in India right now, so I have been calling a lot lately!

I am in same boat. My phone bills are running over $120 per month. I use G3telecom with auto recharge. Costs me a cool 6.5c/min. Haven`t found anything cheaper anywhere.

got this email from Pingo.com:

Dear Walletless,

We've noticed that you haven't used your Pingo account in more than two months, and we want you back!

A Special Free Calling Offer For You
We'd like to offer you free calls to bring you back to Pingo. Why pay more than you need to for your calls home! To entice you to recharge your account, we'd like to offer you a very special Mother's Day coupon for $6.00 of FREE calling. This is more than enough to call your mother for Mother's Day. Just recharge your account for $25, and Pingo will only charge you $19.00! All you need to do is log in to your account at www.Pingo.com, go to the recharge page in the Member's Area and enter coupon "mother7" when you recharge. Please hurry, this coupon will expire on May 14, 2007.
Before you make those long distance calls, check out Pingo's current rates, many of which have been reduced since the last time you used us, thanks to Pingo's RateWatcher feature. We're sure you'll be pleased.

I also got the same Pingo email and I used it. But I dont think this coupon can be shared since its automatically applied to your account if you place an order of $25 and up. I did not write anywhere the coupon code. It automatically showed up on my account.

Sach said: I read thru about half this thread and it sounds like there is no consensus on a good, cheap, clear line to India. I currently use a calling card called "Shukran" in the D.C area and while it is cheap, the call quality can vary and usually the folks on the line in India seem to have a harder time hearing.
Try Zenofon with the best option. Also, Pingo has good offer right now. Check the links in this post.
