Hot! Price drop! Linky, ASIN B00077AA5Q. This is the old thread, but I think this price entails a new thread title.

Yes, the link has a referral that benefits OCEF, a non-profit charity organization registered with IRS as a 501 (c) (3), dedicated to help less-privileged children in rural areas of China to finish their education up to 9th grade. See also OCEF Shop To Help. OCEF earns 4%-8.5% of your Amazon order total for the poor needy Chinese elementary school students in rural areas. An order with 1 BC-900 charger earns them about $1.75, at the current Chinese RMB/US Dollar exchange rate, that almost means textbook costs for one student for one semester.

Since in FatCash Program Amazon.com has 0%, I added the referral to OCEF. However, if mod thinks this is not appropriate, please remove it.

I picked 2 of these up last year.. these are really as good as the reviews mention. I had a bunch of off-brand "dead" NiMH batteries, it rescued all of them and returned them to service (and they've been fine for the past year). Very good charger if you use a lot of AA or AAA rechargeables!

Quick question since you have these. First of all, I did order one, thanks OP.

My dilemma is having one that can charge 4 AAA's at the same time. Can this do that? I got my son an XMOD RC car from Radio Shack for XMAS and it uses 4 AAA batts. My current charger from Costco will do 4AA at a time or 2AAA. THanks in advance.

Yes, AA or AAA in each of the 4 slots, any combination. It's possible to set a different mode and charging current for each slot if you need to.

I have one and it is terrific.
There are 4 slots, so I'm sure it charges 4 AAA at once.
Even 3, or 1 or whatever up to 4.

Looks like $28.95 was the all-time low for this at Amazon...

I bought this from AMZN few days ago $39.99. How do I go about adjusting the price?

Thanks.

Right, can't beat that. I got one at $39.99, but the 4pk NiMH AAA batteries were missing so Amazon nicely credited $7. Today I asked for the $5 difference ($39.99 -> $34.99) and got approved. So the final cost is close to $28, without the rechargeable AAA batteries that are not very useful and I don't need anyway.

Go to http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html, pick a topic and email them, explaining the details.

Just called and got my price adjusted from 39.99 to 34.99. Thanks OP. Green for you.

which number did you called?

With Amazon AMEX cert, I can get it down to $25.

What firmware is Amazon shipping? I bought one last year and it was v 33. It is rock solid. Anything below 32 seems to be problematic.

In 4 1! Thanks OP!

I e-mailed them and they refunded my $5.00 within an hour.

In for one. Thanks.

Check your gold box before you order. Mine was in my goldbox for $33.24.

looks like the max. setting is 2000mah, what about batteries that are 2500mah capacities? can you still use the charger?

That's kind of a waste to use an AMEX cert to save yourself 10 dollars. you can get more back from ebaying it or just saving it for a bigger purchase.

Where do you see that? Anyway, you don't set the mAH. That is determined by the battery. 3000 mAH is the max battery capacity recommended.

just bought this one for 39.99 3 days ago..called Amazon and got the difference credited back.

good deal. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I thought that the Gold box had changed to a "Woot like" deal of the day, since it no longer asks you to log on. After seeing your post, I logged in first and checked my gold box, and saw the list along the right side of the page. No battery charger in my list though.

Charger charges till battery is full. This is determined by voltage needed to maintain charge.

This charger is good because it will discharge fully the batteries then recharge them. They work better if fully discharged. Batteries of the same brand will have differing capacities. Thus with this charger you can use weaker batteries for flashlights or remote controls. I separate the ones AA's that charge below 2000 mah and use then in flashlights and remotes.

$33.24 is *EXACTLY* the same price you'll end up paying after using your DISCOVER CARD for 5% Cash Back!

It will be 31.59 w/Discover discount if its ordered thru GoldBox.

Thanks. Just ordered one with the DVD. I almost ordered one the other day, but I'm glad I held off. The DVD was listed for $20 the other day too.

Thanks OP! Good deal for what seems to be a great charger.

My Oh My! Goodness Gracious!! What should I do? What SHOULD I do?

I got one of these a couple weeks ago and I couldn't find the AAA batteries either, until I shook the travel bag upside down and they fell out. They were stuffed inside a little pocket in the travel bag.

I ordered one last week and got it 2 days ago, it came with a box and it's v33. Loving it. Thanks op, I just emailed them and sked for the $5 back.

Great charger. Got one last year, works great. Don't hesitate, you'll like it.

Seems like LaCrosse has some new competition from the Maha/Powerex MH-9000 which cleared customs this morning but for $22 using wishlist credit, the BC-900 is a great deal. Meltdown problems seem to have been corrected in V33 as discussed at candlepowerforums so N41.

Question: for new batteries, charge first or discharge first? Do you CHARGE/TEST, DISCHARGE, or REFRESH new batteries? Slow charge or medium/fast charge ok? I've read different opinions and for now using 700mA for a medium rate that's not too high and doesn't take too long and charging first. It did overheat a few times with the Powerizer batteries.

you charge new batteries. i suppose you can do the 'test' so that it charges then discharges and charges up again. i think it takes normally 4 cycles to get a new battery up to normal capacity. so i've read.

Thanks! That's what I've been doing for now. I'm going thru and REFRESHING many old batteries now at the lowest setting, which is taking days! Still, the charger isn't doing anything but sitting there, and this should maximized the lifetime and performance. It even brought back some "dead" batteries to the 800-1000mAh range (Powerizers rated 2300) which might be good enough for flashlights and toys.
