I found this deal by doing a Froogle search. Knew nothing about the company, but decided to give it a shot due to the low price. Ordered yesterday (paid with PayPal) and today I received an e-mail indicating the item has been shipped and that it will arrive via air mail in 7-14 working days. Seems legit, but you decide... I've had good luck with similar merchants from China/Hong Kong.

Product price: $4.99
Shipping (Air Mail) : 3.00
Total: $7.99

WARNING: like the other headphones deal on right now, this place sells a lot of other gadgets. So... if you do not want to spend more money, do not browse the site!!!

This seems like too much of a chance of getting counterfeit ones...does anyone know about this company?

I guess it's OEM version.. without any kind of warrent. creative company will not happy to see this selling from contract manufacture directly.
plus, you don't know if those pass the creative QA test or not..

Although I've not yet ordered from this company, the vast majority of similar China-direct deals I've gotten have been the legit item.

Considering how much is tacked onto what American companies pay the Chinese manufacturers per item, in the form of marketing costs, employee costs, profits, stockholder dividends, CEO's & upper Mngmt - not to mention the retailer mark-ups, they should be much cheaper when skipping these middlemen. In for a pair.

Likely a Fake.

Go with Amazon.com to ensure a genuine product.

Just my 2 cents.

agreed can never be sure, you don't know where the distributor is from on Amazon, you had a better chance of a getting a real one, but no way to "ensure"

It looks like the seller iholiday on eBay is this g-wholesale company. Feedback score is 98.8%, with the occasional slow shipping/doa complaint - although there a couple complaints of non-genuine parts.

Can't decide whether or not to order - I've been waiting for a deal on these again after missing out on the Buy.com deal.

Sigh, Semantics....

The shipping cost alone is as much as from the OP's site, not to mention the inflated price for the EP630 there. Ooops, now I get it.

This company seems to sell their headphones on eBay, as well, advertised as "genuine". I doubt they'd have a 98.8% positive rating if they sold fakes.

these "OEM" from china EP-630's are all over feebay. If you search eBay for EP-630, you will find almost all the listings are plain bagged "OEM" models.

Has anyone actuallly comapred one of these to a genuine creative EP-630?

ahhh, forget it, just go to the 99cent store, or buy some shure's

Could be a OEM version but most likely fake. The headphones coming out of China are imazing! I went back to VietNam last year and look at sub $10 headphone and they have very very nice sound some have thunderous bass most are around $5 w/with-out microphone so these are about the nicer one price so it COULD be nice.

But I read terrible reviews about these being fake, if I was going back there I would buy those noname brand-to American that is, they're quite well know back there. My brother-in-law took his Triport back and I didn't see $145 different-his Bose was more comfortable and just a bit better but not in the bass though. Remember we were comparing a $150 to a $6 can.

Yes, there are a lot $1 or less headphone but the better cans are about $10.

Actually the Creative EP-630 is a bargain to begin with compared to the Sennheiser CX300! Supposedly they are the same headphone! they are the same headphone!

Fake/OEM Creative EP-630s and Sennheiser CX-300s from China/HK/Taiwan tend to be sold on eBay and elsewhere, see these threads:

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=203461

I once met a seller to test a pair, wasn't impressed but I'm only familiar with the Sony EX71SLs and Panasonic HJE-30s.

Anyway for that cheap it's probably still ok if you aren't an audiophile and want canalphones.

I read this elsewhere, as well. After reading all the e-bay comments from those who've specifically bought the EP-630 sets from this vendor, odds are they are the real deal. At the very least, they are reported to be of high quality and sound very good.

additive said: plus, you don't know if those pass the creative QA test or not.."Creative" and "QA" in the same sentence is an oxymoron, anyhow.

This are called fakes.

IMPORTANT:

From the last link provided above, one member on headfi complains about horrible sounding fakes he bought on eBay. The link to the item he bought is here. If you view that item, you'll notice it was sold by seller iholiday, the eBay outlet of www.g-wholesale.com. It would appear there is a very good chance the ones offered here are fakes.

This place doesn't have as much cool stuff as Deal Extreme does.

Some risk in this, but it's a great deal if it ends up being real.

I tried to order, but you can only pay by PayPal. I hate PayPal.

I know there's a good chance these are knockoffs, but I figured I'd take the chance and jump on it. If they're real, its an awesome deal, if not its still cheaper than a crappy pair of extra headphones u'd get at target. For 8 bucks, who cares?

Thanks Op. Picked up 3 of them and a splitter for those car trips since the $3 shipping charge didn't go up with more items... and I figured I could wear one at the gym and one at work and one at home. [I just know I'll accidentally tear the one I use at the gym]

And for the price, you probably can't go wrong. That's basically the bottom line.

>
out of almost 200 different EP-630 listings on feebay , I can only find one "geniune" retail packaged item...selling for $20 right now. The rest are non-US "OEM" or show questionable packaging & from China/HK...they are selling cheap, though.

If there are fakes out there, these fakes come from China and are regularly sold on feebay for low $, then the OP's have a good chance of fitting that bill as well.

Definitely not fake. Buy.com had this same deal last thanksgiving with similar price. I missed that Creative deal. but now i found another even better iPod Earphone deal!

Product in retail packaging from legit (though they have horrible customer service) American retailer is not the same as buying something from China where the packaging is known to be indicative of a fake/counterfeit product.

If the deal you're talking about is this one: Creative EP-630 earphones (2 Pair) ~$19 from buy.com GCO AR (from December 6th, 2006) then I don't see how its "this same deal" at all!

Oh well... I'm not wasting my time anywmore. Have fun with your "Creative" headphones.

"Definitely not fake?" Dude, are you THAT naive? I went to China last November, and if manufacturers there can make realistic-looking Ipod Nano knock-offs then they most definitely can "duplicate" these Creative cans.

$36 plus shipping and sold out at bbuy.com right now. China counterfit products are poping up everywhere. And, many of these knock-offs are no where near the same quality as the genuine products.

I looked around the website. It looks like a decent one. If it sells fake stuffs, i don't think it can last long. Still, can some one find the google page rank for it?

Creative earphones are better than iPod ones in my experience. I want to jump. hope some one who bought their products post here to prove.

Hmm, the EP630 is availabe on Amazon (through Office Depot) for $24.99. Any ideas from fellow Fatwalleters on how to sweeten the deal or get free shipping?

Amazon linky

UPDATE:

This does not answer the question of whether these are real or fake, but it clarifies a couple of things that have been discussed in this thread.

I sent a reply to the shipping confirmation e-mail I got and this is the reply the guy sent me:

"We are the wholesaler. Some our cutomers they resell our items on eBay, Amazon or other platform, and they can make great profit."

When I receive the item I will try to do a side-by-side comparison with a 'real' one and I will post my findings here.

From what I learned in this discussion and links is that there are a lot of fakes of this particular canalphone and they come from China. Also, those with the fakes and the real ones can tell the difference. The fakes on eBay are always in the OEM looking package like the ones sold here. I'd say that if they aren't in the retail package, then they are likely fakes.

idex said: Likely a Fake.
Most likely fake look-alikes that are not be sound-alikes.

does anyone receive the $8 EP-630? could you give us a final word if the OEM one received is real/fake, comparing with EP-630 in retail package from Amazon/Buy.com/OD etc? TIA!

I ordered one for $4.99+3.00(S/H) with PayPal and got e-mail confirmation. Seems like everything is fine so far. I am sure maximum 2 weeks I will get it by airmail. Good deal. Thanks

I got my usps tracking number... so far it says it was shipped from...

SHANGHAI, CHINA PEOPLES REP

WHAT!?!?!

You paid them money, they took it, and sent you an email confirmation, and that assures you everything is going okay?

What is your basis to be sure you'll get headphones in a maximum of two weeks??? Those that purchased around the time of the OP should be getting their headphones around now, yet we have no reports back. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you work for the company and are trying to convince FW'ers that everything will work out. (Being a new member, with the generic "fatwalletmem"(ber) username isn't helping either).

NOTHING about this deal has sat well.... I feel like I'm watching FW'ers get duped into buying something in a parking lot out of the back of someone's car...

It's only $7.99. Chill.

Nothing wrong is here. It is normal way to deal with China base internet companies. I did it before
and will do it again. Usually they have good quality stuff for low price. I am confident with this deal (even at worse scenario it is only $8 purchase). Thanks

Skipping 46 Messages...

This deal is no longer as attractive. Cheapest shipping for a pair of their earphones is now $4.95. That is an increase of almost 25% on the entire order amount for one pair. They claim that increase in airmail charges due to higher oil costs are behind the shipping increase.
