Comcast has these come-on deals for premium service all the time. But BUYER BEWARE. Cancelling your service with Comcast, or downgrading your account, is a nightmare. It took more than six months to cancel service; they were billing me the whole time and starting to send collection notices -- even though I called, sent letters, you name it. They kept billing me for two more months *after* they discontinued service to my house, and it took another two months for them to set things right with their collection agency. I am not the only person I know to have had problems like these with Comcast, and I have several friends who have signed up for these upgrade offers only to discover that when they call to cancel, they just keep getting billed. Buyer beware; this is one deal that is not as good as it seems.

This could be smoking hot if it works in other areas. It is easy to cancel services with Comcast in my area.

I live in New Jersey and currently have their $33.00 Basic Cable service (comes with On Demand and Encore for free for 1 year). Been a Comcast customer for just 1 month. Called and asked about this promotion which they call Digital Starter Package and asked if they can drop my price to 19.95 by signing on to the program. The rep explained that the price quoted online is misguiding and that there is no basic plan currently at 19.95. What I did get out of the call was an extra digital converter (free for 1 year), HBO and Starz upgrade for 6 months. After 6 months, the service will automatically drop off. They are shipping the extra converter to me via UPS 3-day shipping. I'll know if they screw up on this when I receive my next bill. I better not get charge extra for these additions!!!

And, they don't allow anyone who only types in UPPER CASE to get the deal.
The guy from SJ was on slickdeals. I called and they said that they would honor it if I faxed them in the mailer. I'm just hoping a scan of the mailer will get out sometime soon!
My question was about it working in Cali at all, and apparently someone got it to.

You can use the ReplayTV to record but no as a replacement for the cable box. The digital cable box has composite out (yellow, red, white - wires). The ReplayTV box came with a little IR sensor unit to change channels on cable and sat boxes.

Thank you for finally turning off Caps Lock. A decade of the web and people still don't know that all caps = shouting and difficult to read.
i don't even know if this is any good, but it seems so to me, next to the prices i had been getting. I've got HBO, Showtime, Cinemax (pretty much everything but playboy) and HSI for $114 indefinitely.
I really don't want the phone service they keep trying to push me into, and it seems like they'll give it to me for free if I just give them the word.
So does that sound like a good price? Comcast bills and their various promotions are simply THE most confusing things I've ever seen (esp. when every time you talk to a CSR you get a different price and a different story.)
