I'm waiting as well to see if my backorder gets filled. If you get a cancellation, you might be able to call back in and ask them to reinstate the order. Thats worked for me in the past with Microcenter. There's just some automated systems that can bounce some orders at times.
My gut says that this deal is dead. They didn't anticipate the demand at this price. They are going to probably lose money anyways if they tried to fulfill all the orders. |

MicroCenter is a Joke of a store. They post deal and it's always impossible to get them. I'm done chasing them down. I hope they end up like CrapUSSR.

Thanks for the info. I will call them tomorrow and try to get my order reinstated...although this deal might well be dead. I ordered the Gigabyte DS3 MoBo and the PNY memory from Newegg expecting this cpu. |

heh nice I could actually buy an OEM since I have two stock CPU fans that came from retail kits. Intel CPUs never EVER fail on me, so the 3 year warranty thing isn't that necessary. Well still if I wait, the OEM will probably be even cheaper by then. If you missed this deal, what's another couple months Unless your computer is dead. I'm still running fine on a P4 2.6ghz, everyone running out and spending big bucks on new systems, what's the use..just wait for a good price |

I talked with a Microcenter.com CSR today and was told that the E6400s on backorder should begin shipping next week. |

I too talked with the MC rep yesterday. She said that it was not a positive, but it was likely, that they would have some to ship next week. |

wow, those look like some good prices coming out. with the c2d out for a while, and the amd response around the corner, i'm a bit wary to buy right now. i think i'll wait till the 1333mhz chips are out. this is a smokin hot deal for anyone who got in on it though, since they retail for ~220 a pop. i think my clunky a64 3200+ will have to hold me over until fall. |

Got shipping notice and tracking number as well! Well, the deal was not dead Thanks Microcenter.
Problem is I also just purchased an e6400 from Newegg as well. Didn't think this deal was going to come through. I was going to try to cancel the e6400 today, but didn't get around to it. |

The chip is a beast. W/stock air and 800Mhz RAM I hit 3.2Ghz rock solid stable. 3.4 is doable with better RAM and a better cooler. Higher than that and things flake out a bit. My highest yet is 3.6 but the machine wouldn't settle down. I'm currently at 3.5Ghz with a Thermaltake 9700, GEIL 1066Mhz memory, and a lapped processor on an EVGA 680i board. IMO the Gigabytes are easier 'clockers though and are more stable. The max bus I was able to stay stable at was 440Mhz with the DS3. Beyond that, it choked. Mind you, this was with the F6 bios, they may be better now. |

I'm pretty sure this was an OEM processor which would not have come with a "stock" air cooler... |

...which would mean that he should be able to achieve better results than with stock. The point of mentioning results with the Intel cooler is to establish a 'baseline' of what's possible on a GA965-DS3 (as requested). |
