My local firestone nearly ruined my car, when I had the oil changed for some reason they were screwing around with the spark plugs and broke one off in the chamber, luckily the dealership was able to fix it right away. I will never use them again even though I have a lifetime four wheel alignment thru them.
Sorry for venting just my .02

My friend's dad had his oil changed at Firestone before heading on 600 mile round trip (Chicago - St. louis). About 30 miles away his oil light pops up and engine starts to heat up. He stops, open his hood up and there is no oil filter. Turned out they hadn't tightened the filter and it just fell off while driving in the highway.

I am scared. I am going to do oil change this week. Firestone has good coupons ($16.99 for oil change, tire rotation...), but there are so many bad stories about it.

No trouble w/ Firestone for me...They beat Tire Racks price and included the lifetime rotation and balance for an extra $20. Just go in with acting like an informed consumer (even if you aren't) and tell them what you want and they won't try to take advantage of you. Most of these horror stories come from uninformed consumers, etc. It also doesn't hurt to watch them while they work on your car.

I'm usually against threadsquatting, BUT....
Same story here-took my new GSA van to them, routine oil change (7500 miles, but that's a different story). Left the dealer, oil light comes on about 10 miles down the road. They simply forgot to put the filler cap back on-it was still sitting in the engine well. Blew oil everywhere! Since that experience, I forbade my employees from using them(for oil changes).
SIDEBAR-is it just me, or do these coupons come out at least monthly with some mass mailing or the Sunday newspaper?
Edit to add: I, too, think their lifetime alignment agreements are worthwhile-but I can't imagine how failing to properly seat an oil filter or the oil filler cap can be a case of being an 'uninformed consumer'.

Was there any damage and did they fix their mistake?

I went to the honda dealer in costa mesa, ca and I drove to vegas the next day and there was smoke coming out of the hood. When I opened up the hood they had forgotten to put the cap back on. So, I think it just happens from time to time. thanks for coupons op.

I've used my local Firestore exclusively to change the oil in my WRX since new. The only thing I tell them not to do is mess with the air filter. Everytime they "inspect" it, they don't put it back in right and I have to do it myself. Even though I tell them not to check it, they still do about half the time. But other than that, it's all good.
If you have Bridgestone tires, tire rotation is always free at Firestone.

thx op but,
I went to a Firestone center 2x in MI
First experience. Hi, I would like you to rotate my tires. My car shoots out the back of the garage and he floors it down the backstreet. Comes back and tells me my car that is 2 years old (buick) with 26K on it is unsafe to drive. Need shocks, brakes, wheel alignment, oil filter, radiator drain and flush, blah blah blah and total cost is $1937. I asked him to return my car to the front lot and forget it. 2 hours later, after I was told that my car is unsafe to drive, I got my car back.
no 2. Radiator out in my wifes beamer. 3500 to fix????? Turns out just a hose to the radiator and cost 110.
Firestone tire also have proved to not last of 35k.
What is so good then?

Same here, my car was done in Honda dealer in dubbling, CA for major maintenance and they happened to leave the oil cap loose. nest day, I drove to LA and big smoke came out from the muffler on the freeway. Have AAA towed to closest by Hona deal and find out the oil cap was too loose.
