Yeah, really great deal when 1) The prices of LCD's have been rapidly dropping on a bi-weekly basis and 2) it's not 1080P.

Learn to read and you will see "ltrinh" and "andeguy" asked what costco's return policy was.

you might want to take your own advise as both of them ask a retorical question...

my order went through for zip 32303. i dont even have a costco in my area.

are we in the same area?

We're getting one soon ... supposed to be out on 90 near Buck Lake Rd! I don't know when, but there were some folks protesting the trees being cut down for it recently.

Not true, my question is not retorial. IMHO, Costco has the best return and warranty policy (even 90 days). If someone claims to there is a better policy, I am interested to know.

Definitely in agreement here about Costco still having the best return policy.

ok, the set finally arrived and was well packaged!

the tv look very nice at any price and the picture is great in my opinion. blacks are good, not washed out. i had loaned my avia disk to a friend, so i couldn't do proper setting up yet. however, the picture looks amazing as is. i can't wait to see what it looks like once i use the disk. one great thing is the placement of the speakers...very stylishly tucked underneath the tv where the silver bar is. it's not bulky!!

it does have one dead pixel in the middle and is about 1/4 up the screen from the bottom. should i be concern about this? i tried massaging it but it's still there. any chance it will go away after a while?

I agree with nateng72...well packaged, tv looks great, very happy with quality and picture. However, I also have 1 dead/stuck pixel in top right quadrant...it has green glow to it. It is all but undetectable when watching tv but it bothers me just knowing it is there. I am debating returning and reordering another just to start with "perfect condition" screen but could certainly be happy with it as is. Any suggestions on fixing the pixel?

reaglebeagles, i thought about doing the same thing but i didn't want to wait and wait. and, what if the next tv arrived with even more dead pixels or something else worse?

i decided to be happy with mine

besides, people have kept their tvs with more than 1 dead pixels...so, may be, 1 is ok...cheers!

How does this Sceptre 42" compare to Sharp Aquos 37" at Costco? Both at $999. Decision, decision.

Just close your eyes. Then you won't see the dead pixel.

It's just 1 pixel, live with it. Not worth the hassle of returning it IMO.

You have to make the decision. I returned my aquos... it's just me and hope it helps.

I chose the Sceptre 42 over the Sharp Aquos 37 because I wanted more bang for the buck and with the Costco return policy I was not afraid...if I did not like the Sceptre, I could simply return or have Costco pick-up at no charge...plus Costco extends manu warranty 2 years to provide total of 3 year warranty. I am very please with the Sceptre picture quality (other than 1 stuck pixel) and happy with decision. However, I decided to buy another Sceptre 42 hoping for one w/o a stuck pixel and will return my current one upon receipt so that I have no down time...there will be no going back to my 32 inch 10 yr old Sharp non HDTV. If the new one also has a stuck pixel I can certainly live with the one I have and be happy but being 5 minutes for a Costco it is worth the effort.

Have you tried "massaging" the stuck-on pixel? I fixed a stuck-on pixel on a 19" LCD monitor by pressing on it (with a eraser) when powering on. It took a few times before it's permanently fixed. Explanations of why this would work can be searched, sorry I don't have the link at this moment.

not true:

For COMPUTERS, TELEVISIONS and PROJECTORS, Costco extends the MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY to two years from date of purchase.

I ordered one of these on 3/12/07 at about 11:30 PM. I was very happy with the shipping time, got to me by 3/15/07.

I too am comfortable with Costco's return policy, so I purchased a 37" Vizio the same day I ordered the Sceptre as the site quoted up to 10 business days, and I didn't want to wait that long. Anyways, after hooking everything up to the Sceptre I wasn't very happy with the picture. I couldn't tell if it was just my imagination that it was so much worse than the Vizio, so I hooked them both up side-by-side and found that I liked looking at the Vizio more. I played around with the adjustments for a while on the Sceptre, but still couldn't get it to look as good. I am not going to claim to be a master at tuning these, so I am sure it is capable of more than I have done, but still it seems to have a lot more lag and artifacts than the Vizio.

Now I am left with a huge moral dilemma: do I sacrifice a little on the quality for a bigger picture, or go with the 37" and save $200? Lucky for me I have 90 days to make the decision. I guess for now I will play around with the settings more on the Sceptre to improve the situation.

Sorry for the long post, but I hope my experience will somehow help someone.

Smart, for roughly the same money...I'd go with the Pansonic Plasma.

are you using the Avia disk to set up your set? i watched mine (sceptre) for a week without using the disk because i had loaned it to a friend. i finally got it back and i have to say, the picture was superb on HD QAM and pretty good on regular cable. i am very happy with the sceptre purchase.
