says it won't be available until 3/5 and through 3/11. this has a $300 off coupon but if it's like the sharp deal of a few days ago, the coupon is automatically applied for on-line customers. i'm not sure about in store since i don't have one in my state.

said that it is 1080p compatible but what does this mean, "Upscaleable to 1080p using Faroudja Technology®"? can someone with some expertise comment on this please?

i've been looking around and i think this is pretty good deal but tell me what you guys think!

Native Resolution: 1366 x 768 ?

This is not a 1080P TV. Naga is the 1080P TV. I believe this has been discussed before in FW.

Still this is a nice looking package for the set.

I like that it has a thin border - no big dorky plastic island under the screen.

Also, that is a high contrast ratio for LCD.

so what does "upscalable to 1080p" and "1080p compatible" mean? this is why i possed this question!!

Native resolution is the acutal pixils on the display itself. Meaning if you have 1080P you display has 1920x1080 = T (total amount of pixils).

Compatiable means the resolution is lower and you get 1366X768= T (total amount of pixils).

1920 x1080 picutres are squzeed down to the 1366x768 display resulting in loss of quality.

It's still a pretty good price for a 42 lcd even if it isn't 1080p. at 42" I don't think you can tell the difference.

Updated link that lets you order this set now.

Just ordered one...thanks OP

From costco? I don't like their return policy.

Monk3y said: From costco? I don't like their return policy. And I am sure they hate losing a customer like you..

Please remove "1080p" from the title. Misleading. You can only state 1080p if the resolution is 1920x1080. Thanks!

Regardless of the 1080p error, this is a great deal on a 42" LCD

i don't understand why peeps gave this deal red when the olevia 342i, which is tunerless gets green for $895 from buydig?

this set has the QAM, 6 ms response time and 2000:1 contrast ratios. regardless of costco's new return policy, it's still tons better than any other online place which has no return policy accept when it's damaged. with everywhere else, it's a crapshoot! costco's rep. confirmed with me that if i'm unhappy with the purchase for ANY reason, they will send a return label at their cost for you to ship back. i don't know any other on line place that even let you return w/o any hassles much less pay for the shipping back!

and i've compared this to the olevia 542i, the viewsonics, the proview, etc...and this set looks as impressive both in specs and physically. i can't say that i've seen all of these in person but i don't think any of the others will do 1080p upscale (whatever this means).

something else i forgot, shipping/handling included. and for me, no tax in Oklahoma!

just ordered one!!

Sceptre® X42GV-Komodo LCD is up for order on costco site. Free shipping.

Why is this getting red? It sounds like a great deal to me! On paper it has better specs than the 37" sharp that is currently on sale at the same price.

so, blindman, which will look better between these 2: watching 720P material through 720P or watching 1080P material scalled down to 720P such as this case?

well, i wouldn't go as far as comparing this sceptre to sharp. but certainly, compared to the "off-branded" lcds (viewsonics, olevias, hannsprees, proviews and other alike), $1000 shipped from costco is certainly very attractive!

great deal at 999.

just ordered one.

here is the AVS Forum link

green for you

man, guess i'll have to get this one too and see how it compares to my 37" Sharp that i just picked up from there.

yeah, please let us know! i've pondered about the sharp too but at 37", it is best for the bedroom but i thought it's a bit more than i want to spend (for the bedroom). this one is going into my living room along with my projection system already in placed

will do...the 37" was going in the bedroom and the 42" may be too big...of course, the phrase "too big" when referencing TV size doesn't really compute with me .

Dead? Invalid item number...

nope, still works at same link, same price

Well I'll be. Sorry everyone, excuse me as I walk off muttering to myself.

just called my local Costco...the 42" is online only for my area.

Sturmie said: just called my local Costco...the 42" is online only for my area.

my order went through for zip 32303. i dont even have a costco in my area.

are we in the same area?

well, since it's free shipping, i guess waiting a few days isn't too bad. but does anyone know when this thing will ship? i know what i said on the website but does costco usually ship faster or not?

i'm in central Ohio and the Costco near me doesn't have it in-store...the free shipping is fine, but i wanted compare it against my 37" today ...oh well, guess i'll order and wait a few days for it.

Never buy Scepter 42. I had one before. It was the worst TV in my life, even the screen proportions are different from regular and colors are terrible.

Monk3y said: From costco? I don't like their return policy.

Just curious, which return policy do you like?

I can only say one thing... the quality of their TVs is just terrible.

I also would like to know how can anybody not like costco's return policy ????????

Costco's electronic return policy is 90 days now.

Here is the link(it's a PDF)

and your point would be??? can you tell me someone else has better return policy on electronics? it's not as good as before they changed it but compared to Buy.com, Newegg.com, mwave.com and others alike, i'm just glad that costco does have a return policy!

2 questions:

1) Is it in home warrenty ?

2) Anyone actually seen this TV in person, that can comment on it ?

Learn to read and you will see "ltrinh" and "andeguy" asked what costco's return policy was.

1) No, you have to return it to the store.
2) No one has seen this TV before, it is brand new.

It's not entire true that you have to return the TV to the store. You can call/email to costco.com and they will pick up the return TV... free of charge. Of course you can return it to the store if you wish. Just want to clarify.

Everything else works fine. I think the picture is pretty good. It's still on sale and would be an extremely hot deal if only my remote worked half-way decently.

You may want to check if the IrD port from the remote is covered by a very thin piece of plastic.

Thanks. It was and I did notice and remove that before I tried out the remote. Like I said it's not the remote because my universal remotes have the same problem.. I have to be within inches of it for it to sense it. It needs to go back but I've just been too lazy and hoping for a better deal in the meanwhile..
