IMO with core duo, HD -80GB, DVD burner upgrades for $510 would be hot. Later you can get a 1GB RAM stick for less. Is Vista Home Basic that bad?

if you have money to spare, It will not be a noticeable difference unless you do heavy processing such as decoding movies and things in that sort of nature. IMO <--- don't flame me =)

if the upgrade prices and options are same as last time, the upgrade to core2duo should be ~$125.

tempting.

IMHO...if you want to click and wait for stuff to open..this processor is for you...dont be fooled by the "dual core" label..It only has as much cache as a celeron...what good would twice the number of processors do ?!?!

huh? yes i know about the dual core t2060, i'm saying that if the upgrade options are the same as last time this compaq presario v6000t was on sale, the upgrade to the core2duo T5200 should be ~125.

So is the T2060 a Core 2 duo ? or what processor is that? I think its a just a dual core NOT core 2 duo ... is the upgrade a Core 2 duo ... yes it is

ok so T2060 is a power hungry old dual core right?
and the T5200 is a not so power hungry faster core 2 duo ?

I dont care about supposed processing power on a freaking laptop. I just want something to type on and browse internet on for school. Which is less power hungry ?

Also anyway to get free shipping?

A T2060 is a Core Duo and not a Core 2 Duo. Calling it power hungry would be wrong. It's not like it's an AMD chip. The P-Ms, Core Duo and Core 2 Duo are all pretty miserly when it comes to power consumption. Dude, if all you are going to do is browse the web and type papers, a PIII would be enough for you.

Then it's hot or not hot depending on your perspective. Will they have one in store for you? Probably not. It's CTO. You order it and then HP mails it to you.

will it be online too?

I have an HP laptop and it is very nice and sturdy. I know HP owns Compaq but can anyone who has a Compaq tell me how reliable they are in terms of physical breakage?

Also, how are the aesthetics of this model...is it black and does it look as good as HP laptops?

THANKS

You can have a look at them instore. They won't have the "T" model since that's CTO but they'll have other Compaqs. Like the HP DVs, they all look pretty much the same. I've played with the Compaqs and other than the case, HPs and Compaqs are pretty much the same. Look at the parts for them. They are all interchangable. HP/Compaq is like Ford/Mercury. A Ford Taurus by any other name is a Mercury Sable.

That's because they don't hold anything. If someone comes in to buy your pick up order before you pick it up, they will sell it. At least that has always been my experience.

Thanks OP!

I own two Compaq laptops. The motherboard on the first one broke. I spent $40 to see if it can be fixed, it couldn't. Spent $250 on a new motherboard and installed it myself. Laptop now works again.

There was an error in the manual, which resulted in me paying a professional to service my laptop. I contacted HP about it and sent proof and they reimbursed me for the cost. I was very happy.

They are expensive to fix so I get extended warranties and replace my laptops every 2 years with new models.
