Ever since I have very bad experience with customer support with Creative (They charge 5$ for a brokrn battery cover for Zen nano 512MB still in warranty and I have to pay for the shipping ), I decided to aviod any creative products unless it is FAR.

That would be a deal discussion.

A company didn't freely repair a non-defective item that YOU broke? What is this world coming to?!

Was it a defective battery cover or did you break it through misuse? Manufacturer warranties cover provable defects--they aren't the same as insurance policies.

I've never had a Creative product break on me, and their rebates have always gone through without hassle.

While I don't necessarily agree with the guy's logic regarding the warranty (see above), I do think that the fact that his battery door broke is relevant to those of us considering the deal.

Actually, it is a well documented design flaw with this unit that the battery door is veerrrrry easy to break. Be very careful when you get yours.

Also note that the most recent firmware upgrades disable FM recording. This was regarded as a DMCA issue.

UPDATED: The newest firmware released earlier this month put back FM Recording. Now I can say that this is a GREAT player, you won't be disappointed (although the line in recording quality kind of sucks)

FYI: creative rebate is slow, I am still waiting for a rebate I submitted last Dec.

The creative rebates are pretty reliable to me. However, I also decided to aviod any creative products unless it is FAR/dirt cheap.

The headphone jack on my Creative Zen Micro 5GB broke after one year's moderate use due to a bad engineering design. The warranty had already expired at that moment, I could not do nothing but buying a Sandisk Sansa M240 player. If you go to forum on www.creative.com, you will find it has been a major issue complained there by the customers.

And the Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 card gave high-pitch noises when I played some PC games like WOW and Lineage II. Integrated onboard sound chips now I am using do better than that.

Already own one and picked up another. Its a great product thanks op. The only issue I have with it is the software it comes with. It was interfering with the performance of my dvd burner (google).

rebate is so slow. i submitted 2 for this product last december and only got one so far

Creative rebates are always really slow for me; they don't even show up on the website until like month and a half later. To their credit though, I've gotten all of my creative rebates.

The customer service of Buy.com is terrible. Be careful when you want to buy something from ths company.

I have 6 of these, and one was purchased from Buy.com for $35 before Christmas. It was delivered promptly and works well. I have downgragded the firmware on my units, to the latest version (10) when the LINE-IN recording input did not have a noise gate built in - the noise gate in later software sounds worse than the whistles they were trying to suppress.

Dang, I just hopped on the deal on Sunday for around the 64.99 price (25$ AR), only if I waited few more days, would gotten five dollars more off. But for the the Zen Nano Plus, it's pretty great, plus it was pretty fast shipping (about five days, two days earlier than the shipping option, though it was a PA warehouse and I'm in DE).

It already can FM Record, FM works pretty good on it, Hadn't test the line-in yet, pretty good for the price. I'm being careful with the battery door though since I heard a lot of problems with it breaking. I would recommend it greatly.

Can't we get rid of the GCO BS. Everyone who is a member of FW, has already used their GCO. I want to see the real price. Not the price for special people.

The link for rebate is not working. Has anyone downloaded one and like to share? Thank you!

for anyone who owns this: Does it come with an armband or the necklace?

It comes with the armband.
There is a little hole at the top of the unit for a loop to go through, to connect to a neckband, but they don't give you the neckband. I stole a neckband from one of my Pentax cameras...

Sound is superb, and the MP3 folders appear on your Windows Explorer so you don't have to fuss with Media center or any of those silly programs. Just plug in the USB, load the files onto the drive (it has an option to repeat all files in a folder) and then enjoy...

FM recording is good MP3. Line In is barely acceptable MP3, but better than nothing. No level meters, distortion occurs at 0dBm line in level. Mic In is the usual useless Mic In (8khz 8bit).

One AAA alkaline lasts about 14 hours on play, 6 hours on record AAA NiMH work OK too.

Nice deal! Got one with $5off.

$5 off $50 (new customer/new account)

Huh!!!!? (looking up from licking the windows on the short bus) I'm still *special*.

Thanks OP! I got in on the 512MB version around Christmas time and have been very happy with it. I guess my only complaint would be that even with the volume turned all the way down it is still fairly loud(for me at least). Still, for under twenty bucks I think this is a great deal.

can somone pls recommend a good quality casette adapter or FM transmitter to go along with this MP3 player to listen music via car stereo

I don't know why all these ppl were having problems w/ the battery door. I've had mine for about a year now, and I've changed the battery several times w/o any problems. Battery cover just slides in and out. No problems with the phone jack either. The only real issue I've had was the firmware going wacko on me. Just reflashed it, and it was good. Looks like I'll just have to update it again since there's new firmware. All in all, a pretty good product, just a bit hard to read with the small screen.

I bought cheap "casette adapter" from online under $5 (big mistake) horrible sound quality, then bought another from W-al-- Mart P-h-i-l-i-p-s brand much better.

Anyone's rebate showing up yet on creative's website? Mine isn't found...

I would not get worried because Creative rebates usually take long time to show up. However you will get paid eventually.
