I've never done NetFlix and was wondering, is it normal to have to wait on certain titles? I noticed I just added a few movies and they all show up as either short or long wait. The FAQ says short wait could be up to two weeks?? Can anyone who's used NetFlix chime in on this? Of course i picked a couple blu ray titles but I would've thought I could get something sooner than later.

You signed up for Blockbuster through this thread not NetFlix. Some movies will have a wait depending on how many copies of it they carry.

Sorry for the poorly phrased question. I understand I signed up for Blockbuster. My point is, is NetFlix better in respect to having titles "available" versus Blockbuster online?
from my experience it seems that NetFlix seems to have more dvds of a particular movie when compared to Blockbuster. this so far seems to be true with newly released movies. on another note, NetFlix has more foreign dvd, which is something to consider if you are into that. Blockbuster has the advantage of instore exchanges for free.
Blockbuster is great is if you have a store nearby. You can rent indie flicks or hard to find titles and return them to the store and get a new release right away, something you can't do with NetFlix. I have tried both and definitely like Blockbuster much better. Plus you get a free coupon every month that you can use on a game or movie.

if they make money with you getting only a few dvds each month your dvd's will come sooner. if you try to get moneys worth they slow shipment down. they point out a close shipping center, but rarely do the movies get shipped from it.
I prefer Blockbuster simply for in-store movie coupons. the other thing I like, I don't trust companies word so when I take em to store I get reciept(proof)of me returning them. no can do with NetFlix, If they happen to get lost(or stolen by dishonest postalworker)over couple or so guess who will have to pay?

Are there any limitations to how many in-store rentals you can do in a month? I thought I read that somewhere on the FAQ's but cannot find it anymore.

all i could find; you will receive one or more e-coupons at periodic intervals to use toward free rentals at participating stores. The frequency, expiration date and specific terms of these e-coupons (including, without limitation, products for which these coupons may be used) will vary depending upon your membership plan and may also be changed from time to time.
even one is more than what NetFlix offers.but my guess is the same number of dvd's mailed is same number of rentals you get in store. since you get movie upon returning one. just return only one at a time.
Is this to say that I cannot just go in to the store as often as I want and swap out movies? Blockbuster has a plan where you can do this. I assumed this plan simply added the ability to do it by mail also. I can go through a movie per day easily. Is this not a good plan for me?

For each online DVD you return to your local Blockbuster store, you'll receive one in-store rental free. I often return 3 online DVD's at a time to my Blockbusterto exchange for 3 in-store rentals when I want to watch movies that night -- this is unlimited.
I did this free for a month, and then kept it for another month or two, and there aren't any limitations to how many you can rent... I have a BB that is a stone's throw away and I swear I burnt like 50+ movies and rented 3 games.
What's nice about the game coupons is you keep them for the 7 days you rented them for, then the 7 or 8 days before they charge the price of the game to your account ("no late fees")... so you get like 13 days for free.
And if you're wanting to rip said DVD's... I would highly suggest you get RipIt4Me, it's basically a program that does all the work for you by opening about 4 different programs including dvdshrink and rips and burns it all for you with a single click.
The reason why I quit is because you soon realize how horrible the instore selection is, but also, it seemed to me that they slowed my arrivals down, maybe they watch how many you are renting and snail you? But regardless it began to slow to a crawl.
Jonday, thankyou for the insights. They are much appreciated. Interesting concept you speak of, however I think you might edit out the burning on grounds you may find jack-booted government thugs at your door ready to take you to Guantanamo Bay prison for crimes against our last viable export: Hollywood. By the way, if you live so close to BB why bother using the mail? I would just go to the store each day and get 3 new ones . . . or try a different store's selection?

When you say you are already a Blockbuster customer, are you referring to just an in-store customer or have you actually signed-up for the online service before? (they are separate)
If you have a membership at your local Blockbuster but not a online subscriber then you can still sign-up for the free online promo. If you currently have an online subscription then you will likely have to sign-up using a different email and credit-card. There is another Blockbuster thread on here with people's experiences with this...
For some people, even though they were once a online subscriber they are still able to use the promo codes such as "mailbox45", and received another 4-weeks free. For others they only received 2-weeks free. It seems the longer period of time since you were a subscriber the better chance you have of receiving the full free 4-week trial again.
I just canceled my subscription. Originally signed up for month free, I liked it so much, I *paid* for the second month. But after 2 months, I am out of DVDs to watch/burn so I canceled today. Can I just sign up again using different cc# but same address?
I must of burnt 40+ dvd's over 2 months... didn't watch a single one yet. Greed is bad >: )
