i've traded in some consoles w/ EB before. if it's handheld, they just turn it on, see if it works. i traded in a PS2 and they did not bother checking anything.

Out of curiousity how much did they give you for your PS2?
I called the other day and they said they would give me $25 each for the two PS2's, originial boxes + extra Playstation branded controller each.
I passed.
Also, they will offer $25 for the SP at my store. You just have to have the charger.

So an original DS is presumably worth $60 towards a DS Lite (129-69). Would they apply the $60 towards a PSP? Also, if the Gamebo SP is worth $25, will they allow combinations? Thanks.

EBgames tradeins are awful. You can get a much better price for your gear on eBay and buy a new NDS outright.

re: my PS2, i did it 2 years ago when the deal was trade in PS2 + 5 games to get a PS2 Mini. my PS2 was skipping badly, so I went to my local game store and bought 5 EA Sports title from 2001 for $3 and brought it to EB and got a PS2 Mini.
I was told, YMMV, but if you trade in a PS2 with a controller, you get $100 off a PS3. Haven't been able to confirm that but a buddy of mine said the EB by him was doing this promo.

I just did this with mine. My DS was getting old and the battery was starting to suck...why buy a battery when I can trade up for a new one? (Yup, it's for a new one for 69 bucks) I always have some games lying around I'm done with so it was about 25 bucks w/ DS Phat and games for me and the new screen is MUCH better...wish I woulda done it months ago. The contrast on this screen is much better, I don't have to stare straight on at it either, viewing angle is much better.
It's happening. As soon as you trade-in a DS Phat and add a new DS Lite it adds 10 dollar promo to your trade-in. The store didn't know it but verified it when I had them try it.

Quick question..
I'm thinking about doing this. I can't for the life of me find my AC adapter. Will EB or GameStop still take my ds w/o it?

I traded up last weekend at GameStop. I called them to verify before driving in, and the guy specifically mentioned it had to have the charger and a stylus. So I kept the strap and gave them the rest of the stuff. Maybe I should've kept the Metroid demo too? Eh, whatever.
SO..I'm going to do this tonight. What exactly am I supposed to do? Just bring the box up to the counter and say "I wanna trade this in for a new ds lite"? They'll know what i'm talking about right? I've never done anything like this before..is it as easy as it sounds?
I did my usual. Walked up handed him my DS and said "My friend told me you guys are running a promo for an extra 10 bucks trade-in if I trade this for a Nintendo DS Lite." He just scanned it, scanned a new one and the price came to 69.99. So I added my other trades of games and paid the difference.
Pretty simple, they shouldn't give ya a hard time.
does anyone have a link for this? i went to get the ds lite and my local store hasnt heard anything about it

So, does the $10 promo bring the price down to $59?

and it's more fragile, though the original ds plastic isn't that great either.
