Heads Up for Firefox Users:

I run Firefox v1.5.0.11 with the following Extensions (amongst many others - but these affected Verizon SignUp):

• AdBlock Plus
  
• CookieSafe
  
• NoScript
  
• Popup Blocker
  

and it took some time to signup for DSL since Verizon accessed about 6 different sites, IIRC, and I had to manually grant permissions several times. Yes, I *KNOW* this is my choice - all I'm saying here is that to save yourself some time, instead of doing it one-by-one like I did, just grant ALL of them temporary permission for the session.

I finally replaced my *OLD* AT&T Worldnet 56K DialUp (BackUp) that I was paying $9.99/mo for 5 hours with something almost as inexpensive but FASTER and UNLIMITED that will also allow me to finally (temporarily ) cancel COMCAST and then get a 'better rate' in a few months, if I decide that I actually need it anymore.

Verizon has a dirty secret that is about to bite some people with DSL. They are rolling out FIOS TV in a few cities and mine is one of them. I want to cut the cord with Comcast and save a few bucks so I asked about doing DSL and FIOS TV. Well the secret is that they force you to upgrade to FIOS internet if you want FIOS TV even though the copper line is still connected. So your $15 goes to $35 and there is nothing you can do about it.

So you have to install their bloatware?

your tax dollars probably paid for the copper to be there - so they have no right removing it
your tax dollars paid for the FIOS to be there - they should be giving a discount instead of jacking the rates.
