bullbert said I still have my "original" Netzero account from '96 with truly unlimited access for FREE! I use it between "new customer" Verizon DSL signups.
How long do you have to be inactive before you can re-up as new? TIA |

The time I moved the 9GB tar file was a different story. 100k/sec seems much slower when you move 9GB.
Good enough for the money. Twice fast as att at the same price. |

Don't use tv a lot, won't get the movie channels which is fine with me. 3 meg for internet, and phone line (which I don't really need can use cell) is supposed to be free local and long distance. 1 yr. guaranteed price. Should I be checking something or someplace else? Need quick advice. I just called and cannot get Verizon in this area. just get a hdtv with over the air tuner(rabbit ears).all the big networks are on hdtv now for free, hence you get to watch great hdtv for free. goodbye to 100 + a month cable or satellite bills. |

Heads Up for Firefox Users:
I run Firefox v1.5.0.11 with the following Extensions (amongst many others - but these affected Verizon SignUp): - AdBlock Plus
- CookieSafe
- NoScript
- Popup Blocker
and it took some time to signup for DSL since Verizon accessed about 6 different sites, IIRC, and I had to manually grant permissions several times. Yes, I *KNOW* this is my choice - all I'm saying here is that to save yourself some time, instead of doing it one-by-one like I did, just grant ALL of them temporary permission for the session.
Thanks OP for the post! I finally replaced my *OLD* AT&T Worldnet 56K DialUp (BackUp) that I was paying $9.99/mo for 5 hours with something almost as inexpensive but FASTER and UNLIMITED that will also allow me to finally (temporarily ) cancel COMCAST and then get a 'better rate' in a few months, if I decide that I actually need it anymore.

I did a search on the Dell site and only saw the $34.99 per month 3.0Mbps deal from Verizon. Is anyone able to find the $14.99 per month deal from the Dell site? |

I see Verizon.com has an offer for $25 Target GC, free first month, free modem, $19.99 one time fee, 1 year contract required at 14.99 a month.
Do you have to use AOL, MSN, or yahoo software? I just want bare bones DSL service. |

Verizon has a dirty secret that is about to bite some people with DSL. They are rolling out FIOS TV in a few cities and mine is one of them. I want to cut the cord with Comcast and save a few bucks so I asked about doing DSL and FIOS TV. Well the secret is that they force you to upgrade to FIOS internet if you want FIOS TV even though the copper line is still connected. So your $15 goes to $35 and there is nothing you can do about it. |

If you SEARCH, it's all clearly explained over at DSLReports (whether you want to run JUST the Westell 6100, or BRIDGE the 6100 and run another router behind it)... |

with the regular DSL modem you can hook up one computer as there is only one ethernet port on the modem. Either you get a switch then you can hook up more computers wired. Or a better solution is to get a wireless router and put the DSL modem into bridge mode. PM me if you need the instructions on how to setup the modem into bridge mode. I will email you a PDF then.

and the kicker...
your tax dollars probably paid for the copper to be there - so they have no right removing it your tax dollars paid for the FIOS to be there - they should be giving a discount instead of jacking the rates. |

Two questions, 1) Anyone successfully re-up the contract for another year? 2) What's the lapse-of-service time required before you're considered a new customer again? 3) Any tips/method to getting the service at the $14.99 rate for another year? |
