Just saw this promo. It was $21.99 up until now. They appear to guarantee the price for one year. Also remember that Verizon now offers Dry Loop service in most areas. Meaning you can get DSL without the telephone service. Although they do change $5 a month for that. Here is the Link

Uhhhh I don't understand the point of your post. AT&T is NEVER available in the same area as Verizon and vice versa. And Verizon has wanted more money than this for this service lavel for a long long time.
Anyway, whatever, I edited the title.
I use the RoadRunner lowest service level at the moment which is $19.99 and if you don't buy enough of the Cable TV options they add another $5 to the bill. So I'm paying $25 for supposedly the same speed. However, with Verizon I was getting speeds of around 800 - 900 Kbps. With RoadRunner I'm lucky to hit 650Kbps. And there are No Other options available in my area, save the Dial UP . If this deal was around when I placed my order, I would have opted for Verizon instead of RoadRunner. So for me there is more than one thing that make this price hot. Although I accept it may not be for everyone. It doesn't mean this is not a hot deal it just means it is not for you.
It is a great deal for these who live in Verizon-only area. There is no better deal at this speed so far. The last $14.99/month from Verizon was one and half years ago. 768kbps is good enough for most internet surfing. AT&T has a similar rate, however it is not available at all the areas. After one year of contract, the rate is supposed to be the current rate then. However, it stays at $14.99. I am currently using this plan. It's been more than one year. I still pay $14.99/month which happens to others in my area as well.
