Update on my $40 Kuhmo rebate: Sent out materials on 5/25, received the rebate check today, 6/28. I'm impressed by the fast turnaround! |

I just got new tires on my car. I pricematched Costco's price to National Tire and Brakes (NTB). They threw in everything Costco had for free. |

I got my Goodyear comfortred price matched at Mr. Tires (Maryland). The Goodyear rebate doesn't have a contact phone number for rebate status. The number is 1-877-777-9937. |

There are couple of hidden coupons which may be found on Firestone website even though there are no direct links: $40 set of 4 Firestone tires valid through Sep 30th. $50 set of 4 Bridgestone tires valid through Sep 30th. These are YMMV, because it's never clear what "regular price" means. In fact, when I've called my local FS to ask them to order tires for my car, they've offered me a better deal then the price on the website less the coupon. So I'm not using the coupon unless the price suddenly goes up when I actually come to the store. In addition to that the store should have forms for $50 in free gas mail-in rebate with purchase of 4 select Bridgestone tires, valid through Sep 1st. That's up to $100 off combined. (Combining rebate with discount should not be an issue.) |

I picked up some two sets of tires from Discount Tire last week -- didn't want to wait too long during the rainy season in FL. Wouldn't you know it, Costco is offering $80 off a set of Michellin - this week sometime. SIGH. Life, dlong |

thanks for the links happysaver, I just updated the OP. there's not a lot out there, just costco, firestone, 2 from discount tire and a new dunlop. Interesting thing about discount tire is that they seem to have extended the old multi-brand rebate but they gave it a new offer #, so that the 2 offers overlap in april and may. If you got the first rebate and you have copies of the receipt, maybe you could submit for the next rebate? |

Could not find a lot of reviews for the Michelin Hydroedge (on sale at Sams - $60 off on 4 tires). Any one used them? |

Do you know where to send these rebates? There are no forms, just some type of coupon? Just curious if they print out or something at the register. Cheers! Update: I went to a Firestone in Ann Arbor about 10 days ago to get Bridgestone Alenzas for my CR-V. First of, they've given me what amounts to "3 tires for the price of 4." That is to say, their website quoted (my size) at $106.99 per tire plus mounting plus balance. The guys quoted me tires at the same price as the website, no charge for balance, and a discount equal to price of one tire. So I did not even bring up the $50 off coupon issue. It came up to $491 total including four tires, installation, road hazard protection, and wheel alignment. I had to tell them that I want a "gas rebate" form, which they produced right away. The forms come in a kind of tear-off pad. The form has to be an original (no photocopies), you must get a duplicate tire receipt (again no photocopies), and, most importantly, you have to submit it with a single gas receipt. They promise to pay the least of the receipt amount or $50. For me it's a loss, since I never pay more then $35 at the pump, even when my tank is nearly empty. Anyway, the rebate form must go to: Firestone Complete Auto Care $50 Gas Rebate PO Box 506 Fairlawn, OH 44334-0506 Once submitted rebates may be tracked at http://trackmypromo.com/. |

some time ago I heard that the cheapest way to get tires was to order onlien through a website , I think TireRack.com was often recommended, having the tires delivered to a local store. Then, you pay the store to install the tires. 1. Is that still a good way to go? I have a '99 honda accord (4dr, manual) and it needs new tires. I want something with good all-conditions handling since I like to ski. (i have chains for when it gets nasty.) 2. any recommendations for good value all-purpose tires for my car? |

2. any recommendations for good value all-purpose tires for my car? I'm a CostCo and SAM's tire customer (depending on brand tire desired) - you might get tires cheaper mail order but shipping is costly plus there's mounting/balancing/new valve stem plus a road hazzard add on warranty as well as disposal fees. CostCo is up front on this - $10/tire plus $1 for disposal. Costco will fix flats (the proper way) for free, rotate tires for free, and they use nitrogen to fill tires (oooooh - green valve caps!) |

Nitrogen doesn't expand / contract like air. So, the tire pressure will not fluctuate with temperature. |

I've sold a couple sets of Michelin Hydroedge. I work for a dealer VW/Mazda/Hyundai, and we sell lots of tires. Michelins get the least complaints. The Hydro tire is great in the wet, but I'd probably try to push you toward one of the new MXV4 Primacy tires that are fresh out (last 2-3 weeks). You can be guaranteed that these are as fresh as it gets for tires, and you will be amazed. These replace their old best seller for OEM's, the long-winded Michelin Energy MXV4+ with Green X. This is probably the best all around all-season car tire. |
