Now that I'm ready to make the switch to HD, I'm torn, because I'm looking for a source of HiDef programming that includes TiVo but not Comcast. And there isn't one. Not in my area. DirecTV has no upgrade path to HD that involves TiVo. Verizon FIOS is probably over a year away (they won't say, so I can only assume). And OTA doesn't have the level of programming we're accustomed to.
The demo of the Comcast-TiVo box at CES made me put everything on hold. I'm waiting to see how that does before I make my next move. |

I wonder if S3 works with Verizon FiOS TV? I'd consider buying TiVo instead of renting Motorola QIP6416-2 HD DVR's through Verizon. I still have ReplayTV 5040's for non HD programming. |

It does. I think it may be unofficial so TiVo might not support you, but there are plenty of online support forums where they will help with Fios + S3. Supposedly, it's a very nice combo. I'd try it if I had Fios in my area. |

American Express launches their Wishlist on June 3. I am told they will again offer 25% off Amazon.com coupons (up to $150 value). The week of June 3, you should be able to get the Series3 from Amazon.com for $455 before the rebate, and $255 after the TiVo rebate.hmmmmm....i'm an AMEX holder (actually, it's a Costco AMEX)...should i be getting this coupon as well?

I'd be interested in knowing this as well. If not, going through Costco would still serve to be a pretty good deal, but I'm really concerned about the rebate being valid. As already noted in a previous post, the fine print on the Costco site states they're not an authorized dealer, and the rebate clearly requires the purchase be through an authorized dealer.
Is there anyone out there that has successfully received a TiVo rebate in the past for a unit purchased through Costco, whereby the terms were the same as this current deal? |

No, you both need to review this thread. It is NOT a guaranteed coupon- you have to be lucky enough to get it. |

I currently have a TiVo 1 & 2 w/ lifetime service, & a 2nd TiVo 2 paying $7/mo for it. Want to shift to the HD DVR's, otherwise I'd just stay w/ my current setup because TiVo rocks.
However, I'm also wondering if TiVo 3 is worth the considerable cost difference compared to my TWC HD8300 DVR w/ 2 tuners built in. .
I don't know what the price is on your two HD DVR units, but since you already have multiple tivos, couldn't you use MSD on the series 3 as well? I think the current limit for the number of Tivos you can run with the multi service discount is 4? Am I mistaken about this?
For TWC in Raleigh, I'm paying $6.95 for the HD suite, which I would be paying for whether I use their HD DVR or TiVo's. I pay $7.95 for a HD8300 DVR from them & a cable card would cost $1.75. |

When wishlists are going on, they usually have 3 times during each day that if you logon to their site at the right time, you can win the gift certificate. Not sure how many they give out, but it seems to be a lot. I think it's the first so many people to login at that time get it. |

You can "win" it by logging into the site at the right time as long as you have an AMEX card. No need to preregister for anything. It's a 25% off Amazon coupon, which you can use for anything (including the TiVo series 3). |

And the Amazon Wish Certificates are typically gone within 10 seconds of their offer time (I've unsuccesfully tried to get one in the past). The bottom line is that you should NOT expect to easily obtain on of these WCs. |

No, you can get lucky...
What I'm saying is wait until the AMEX WC thing happens... and if you get one- use it! If not, at least you tried... |

get in line..
it's likely not going to happen until Comcast rolls theirs out.
also, you won't be renting the TiVo with Cox - it'll be downloaded to the box.. same with Comcast. |
