SERO now includes FREE UNLIMITED TXT MSGS Archived From: Hot Deals

FW's favorite plan just got sweeter! Free unlimited txt messages are now included in all 3 of the SERO plans! This was mentioned in the enormous SERO thread, but I thought this was important enough to warrant its own topic. Go Get'em! I got it added to my plan first try through the employee accounts number, and no contract extension required for me either!

SERO

Edit by Moderator: Thank you for participating in the forums. However, this topic has been covered in a recent post Here.

*edit*

All other information regarding SERO can be found in the other giant FW SERO thread, no need to clutter the forums with two threads on the same topic. This post was just to let current SEROers know about the new free unlim txt promotion! I wouldn't think to look at the other SERO thread otherwise.

I've gotten a couple of PMs asking for the number to call. Try the Employee Accounts number, which has absolutely no hold time (and for the first time ever, a competent CS rep). No guarantees that you'll get it on the first try, so just be persistent and tell them that the promo is listed right on the main sero page.

To double check that your texting has indeed been changed to unlimited, go to the "usage details" section. Under text messages remaining it should now say "unlimited" if the CS reps did it correctly.

My pain free procedure for adding free text messages to my existing account:

1) Log into My Sprint Wireless account via http://www.sprint.com
2) Click on "Contact Us" (at the top of the page, after you are logged on)
3) Click on "Email us" (small in-line link within first paragraph; on click window closes and main window redirects to form)
4) Filled out form, selecting "Other" as the topic. Text used:
To Whom It May Concern:

I understand that the newest SERO plans now offer "free unlimited text" text messaging. I would appreciate it if this could be added to my account as well.

I hope this can be accomplished without extending the terms of my current contract. I greatly appreciate your time and asistance.

Sincerely,
Tommy Trojan, MD

hu? Wasnt included before? Somehow they dont charge me for txt... maybe cuz im with nextel?

Very good deal for the best phone plan around.

If my contract was up i would definitely jump in on this.. I would probably even take the ETF fee and still get in on this deal but i end in 2 months so im just going to wait it out.

I would recommend everyone to this plan but dont everyone jump at the same time and kill the deal cuz i still need to get in

If I already have Sero, is it automatically added or do I have to call to get free text messages?

Definitely not added automatically. Try calling, it's a fairly easy perk to get.

fwiw, getting shot down by a csr right as i type

I called 866-250-2221 and said:

I just wanted to check if i had unlimited text.....

Sprint said no.

I then said I signed up about 2 weeks ago, which I really did, and on the website (sprint.com/sero) it was listed there. Can you make sure that it is included in my plan.

About a minute later, I am a satisfied customer.

Thanks eyespii

ok?

sprint must still be hemorrhaging customers to offer this.

Or maybe a wireless carrier has finally realized that the bandwidth consumed by a short text message is less taxing on their infrastructure than a voice call.

i think all the wireless service providers will offer unlimited text very soon... i don't think it cost them alot to deliver the text..

Text is certainly the cheapest to provide but one on the most profitable products as well.

I don't see it going free anytime soon although I think it should and look forward to it...

It doesn't cost a thing. Its been fashionable to charge for texting because its so profitable. Carriers have been getting either something like 10 cents a text (both sending and receiving) or $10 or whatever that really costs virtually nothing. Now texting has become so popular that carriers are offering free texts in hopes to sway customers of other carriers their way.

At least thats my take. And I have to say its about time. First I didn't care for text, I just didn't see the point. Then I realized there are people in my life (especially at work) that I am forced to communicate with but I don't care to talk to. Last month I was charged something like $10 for 40 or 50 texts (Sprint charges an outrageous default rate of 15 cents a text). I figured I would bite the bullet (I hated the concept of paying for a feature that costs them nothing) and signed up for the unlimited texting plan, but there was no option on the website to do so. I do a little bit of googleing and there couldn't find any kind of text plan for Sprint. What a bunch of BS. My friend told me they have an unlimited plan for $10 if you call.

I just think its ridiculous that my plan allows me to stream unlimited live TV for free (only the NFL network for free) yet have to pay over $10 for 50 texts that when one second of the TV stream requires about a million times more bandwidth than all the texts I have ever sent in my entire life combined (OK, maybe an exageration, I don't really know the exact numbers and magnitudes). I really hope I can get unlimited text on my SERO plan (signed in December). I really like the idea of getting email notifications, bill pay reminders, eBay updates, and things like like without paying $1000/month. Sprint use to use a format called shortmail that was a free feature but the dropped that for the SMS format. They also used to give you an icon notifying when you had income email to your PCS email. Which leads into my other text gripe. SMS should give you more characters to type. 240 or whatever is way too low. OK, I'm done ranting now.
