FW's favorite plan just got sweeter! Free unlimited txt messages are now included in all 3 of the SERO plans! This was mentioned in the enormous SERO thread, but I thought this was important enough to warrant its own topic. Go Get'em! I got it added to my plan first try through the employee accounts number, and no contract extension required for me either!

SERO

All other information regarding SERO can be found in the other giant FW SERO thread, no need to clutter the forums with two threads on the same topic. This post was just to let current SEROers know about the new free unlim txt promotion! I wouldn't think to look at the other SERO thread otherwise.

I've gotten a couple of PMs asking for the number to call. Try the Employee Accounts number, which has absolutely no hold time (and for the first time ever, a competent CS rep). No guarantees that you'll get it on the first try, so just be persistent and tell them that the promo is listed right on the main sero page.

To double check that your texting has indeed been changed to unlimited, go to the "usage details" section. Under text messages remaining it should now say "unlimited" if the CS reps did it correctly.

hu? Wasnt included before? Somehow they dont charge me for txt... maybe cuz im with nextel?

Very good deal for the best phone plan around.

If my contract was up i would definitely jump in on this.. I would probably even take the ETF fee and still get in on this deal but i end in 2 months so im just going to wait it out.

I would recommend everyone to this plan but dont everyone jump at the same time and kill the deal cuz i still need to get in

If I already have Sero, is it automatically added or do I have to call to get free text messages?

pidge said: If I already have Sero, is it automatically added or do I have to call to get free text messages?

Definitely not added automatically. Try calling, it's a fairly easy perk to get.

fwiw, getting shot down by a csr right as i type

I called 866-250-2221 and said:

I just wanted to check if i had unlimited text.....

Sprint said no.

I then said I signed up about 2 weeks ago, which I really did, and on the website (sprint.com/sero) it was listed there. Can you make sure that it is included in my plan.

About a minute later, I am a satisfied customer.

Thanks eyespii

I will try this when it shows up on the website. I too literally signed up 2-3 weeks ago. Thanks

ok?

sprint must still be hemorrhaging customers to offer this.

Or maybe a wireless carrier has finally realized that the bandwidth consumed by a short text message is less taxing on their infrastructure than a voice call.

i think all the wireless service providers will offer unlimited text very soon... i don't think it cost them alot to deliver the text..

Text is certainly the cheapest to provide but one on the most profitable products as well.

I don't see it going free anytime soon although I think it should and look forward to it...

It doesn't cost a thing. Its been fashionable to charge for texting because its so profitable. Carriers have been getting either something like 10 cents a text (both sending and receiving) or $10 or whatever that really costs virtually nothing. Now texting has become so popular that carriers are offering free texts in hopes to sway customers of other carriers their way.

At least thats my take. And I have to say its about time. First I didn't care for text, I just didn't see the point. Then I realized there are people in my life (especially at work) that I am forced to communicate with but I don't care to talk to. Last month I was charged something like $10 for 40 or 50 texts (Sprint charges an outrageous default rate of 15 cents a text). I figured I would bite the bullet (I hated the concept of paying for a feature that costs them nothing) and signed up for the unlimited texting plan, but there was no option on the website to do so. I do a little bit of googleing and there couldn't find any kind of text plan for Sprint. What a bunch of BS. My friend told me they have an unlimited plan for $10 if you call.

I just think its ridiculous that my plan allows me to stream unlimited live TV for free (only the NFL network for free) yet have to pay over $10 for 50 texts that when one second of the TV stream requires about a million times more bandwidth than all the texts I have ever sent in my entire life combined (OK, maybe an exageration, I don't really know the exact numbers and magnitudes). I really hope I can get unlimited text on my SERO plan (signed in December). I really like the idea of getting email notifications, bill pay reminders, eBay updates, and things like like without paying $1000/month. Sprint use to use a format called shortmail that was a free feature but the dropped that for the SMS format. They also used to give you an icon notifying when you had income email to your PCS email. Which leads into my other text gripe. SMS should give you more characters to type. 240 or whatever is way too low. OK, I'm done ranting now.

Where are you guys seeing this? I see "Casual Text Messages ($0.15 per domestic message)".

Here is my simple letter and adress

Hi I am writing this in regard to my account not having the "free unlimited text" included.

I am on the Sero plan and it states all 3 of the plans have unlimited text included.

I have the link to the webpage where it is listed in case you need to reference it in order to add this to my account.

http://sprint.p.delivery.net/m/p/sprint/epc/epclanding.asp

I appreciate any help you can give me to get this fixed.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

The email adress is ecare@cc.sprintpcs.com

Man i just ordered another SERO line... 2 days ago...

How hard would it be to have the unlimited texting added?

lowspeed said: Man i just ordered another SERO line... 2 days ago...

As easy as making a 5 min call and talking to a Sprint CSR

I've been on SERO for about a year and just got the unlimited text added to my existing SERO account without any other changes being made. I called retentions at 866-881-9571 and the rep was very polite and found the code to get it added effective today. I read another number others have successfully added this is employee accounts at 866-250-2221.

seriously, i wish all carriers would do this. charging 15 cents for like 15 bytes of data is ludicrous. even though i dont send texts, i still receive a significant number per month and get charged for them. what a ripoff..

If you are with Verizon, you can cancel now without an ETF!

Im with cingular family plan. Kinda hard to get rid of 3 phones without any ETF

I'm in the exact same situation - 3 phones with Cingular family plan and we just renewed our contract :/ :/ :/

Ouch if I was in your situation, I WOULD cancel and take the ETF. How I see it, you would save more in the long run, and you can sell off your new phone on eBay to make back a portion of the ETF if not all. I, however, only have 3 months left of service and would rather wait it out since I assume sero will still be around, if my sources are correct. And last christmas they had killer rebates for phones and a variety of phones to choose from. Now the options are limited. Also im waiting for the PPC6800

and i just got 500 txt msgs for free, i guess ill have to pass i dont use that many anyways. Green OP

THANK YOU! Called the number you mentioned and got that added on fairly painlessly on both our accounts. If not for this separate posting, it would've never caught my eye.

As our SERO plans included free Picture Messages (but not Text), my wife and I had gotten into the habit of sending each other random pictures... I'm thinking I might eventually miss the zen of that. But at least now I won't get dinged 15 cents every time some coworker sends, "OMG PARTY HERE LOL COM OVR!!"

Employee accounts was closed will try tomorrow.

Just to add my $0.02 to the txt msg debate. The variable cost to the phone company is actually zero, at least while inside a network. Txt messages do not get delivered till there is free bandwidth, so there is literally no cost as if they had anythng they could sell (i.e. minutes) that would go first.

At the same time, wireless companies are not tremendously profitable, and this has been one of the few ways they could actually add to the bottom line. Txt will remain pricey until the first one offers it as a standard part of the bundle.

Original SERO thread is 116 page. Please do not restrict this thread since it may be really valuable"

Is Sero available everywhere in the US?

I'm no fan of sending text messages, but that doesn't mean I can stop my idiotic friends from sending them to me. Been on SERO for 6 months and this makes it even sweeter. Thanks OP.

Markfaafp said: Is Sero available everywhere in the US?

Everywhere Sprint provides service.

Skipping 366 Messages...

Is sprint tv pretty laggy for everyone? I have a Centro and it stops to buffer very often.
