If you try to stay awake after taking it, you will not remember anything after the drug has taken affect. You will also have some significant coordination issues so they are serious about not operating machinery. Don't even think of driving.

Mixing is just stupid. That's how most prescription overdoses occur not to mention the toxic effects on your liver, kidneys etc.

I once had a trial prescription for Ambien 10mg. One morning, I was completely freaked out when I walked into my computer room, and noticed a half-written e-mail on the screen that I still can't remember writing. Now if the e-mail said something about making soap, and splicing single frames of p0rn into movie strips, there'd be legitimate cause for concern!

Honestly, the worst part is waking up and not remembering whether or not you took a shower the night before.

Nope that's wrong, and he's totally right. Not the jagermeister part, he's probably joking (although i've probably done worse then that lol). I'll say this, one of the first times I took Ambien I knew to go to bed but I was hungry and then had to take the Browns to the SuperBowl. Well that ended up being about 40 minutes after taking a full 10mg. I started hallucinating while at the SuperBowl. Hallucinations not being new it was kinda fun. I got a kick out of it hte next day telling my gf wtf happened but I hightailed it into bed. I remembered it all and have never had memory loss.

I have had insomnia since early high school, 13 years or so. Never really took any drugs but some nights I would toss and turn until 7 in the morning. I just dealt with it but it sucked. My sister and her husband are doctors so he recommended ambien about 5 years back. Best thing ever. I have an addictive/non-addictive nature, where I'll get addicted to something (smoking, drinking, hardcore drugs ) and realize it and will stop. So with the ambien I started with whole doses but realized I didn't need it all so I broke them into thirds. A bottle of 10 pills would last me 3-6 months, as I would only take them when I absolutely needed too.

Now I get free samples of Lunesta and Rozerem. Rozerem for me sucks. I take whole doses since they suck and it still doesn't work sometimes. Lunesta is a bit better, supposedly you can take them for months on end, but they leave a nasty taste in your mouth the next day. Ambien is still the strongest but I haven't taken it in a couple of years.

Anyone verify if it's the same price at the local Costco?

I fly to Argentina all the time from New York. An 11+ hour flight. Thank god for Ambien. I take it as they serve dinner about an hour or so into the flight. No sooner than they clear away the dishes I start yawning. I put on my eyeshades, my foam ear plugs, and my stupid neck support pillow and I am out like a light. 7 hours later or so I am awake and ready for breakfast. It makes an 11 hour flight seem like 3-4. I arrive in the morning and I am out of the airport and ready to go. Most of the people who did not sleep look like the walking dead.

My problem is getting my doctor to prescribe it. Pain in the neck.

I know it's not the same thing at all, but it's somewhat relevant to this thread. Costco also sells large 400ct bottles of Tylenol PM (house brand) for $6. You can also get a similar count size bottle of Benadryl (some people use these as sleep aids) for under $4. Both of these are great values for those of us who have stressful jobs and/or overactive imaginations that occasionally need a little assistance getting to bed

I hear it's not a good idea to take sleeping aids on flights because if there is an emergency or something. I guess if you're gonna croak who cares but what if it was a survivable emergency and you die because of the ambien???? That being said on my way back from Asia I took a half and conked out for a good 5 hours (I can never sleep on planes). It made the trip real short.

I'll keep this info secret, if my DH found out, he'd be dosing me at dinner every night.

johndude said:Only problem is that Ambien has been known to cause semi-permanent memory loss. Especially if you take one and then wake up after only an hour or two and stay awake (not a good idea). Also, many people have been known to SLEEP EAT, Yes eating everything in the kitchen with no memory of it the next day (My father used to do that, all the ice-cream missing next day!). Sweet Dreams !
this is TOTALLY TRUE! my S.O. does this all the time!
me personally, i ambien SHOP (i found out i bought an item at Buy.com when the first GCO $30 off was around (and you could use it multiple times) i discovered this order when i went in to check my email and i had 2 order confirmations (one from that morning, and one from the night before!)

this is asinine, those who dont remember what happens to them is because they are pretty much sleep walking, etc......if you fight off sleeping you are awake, mildly hallucinating, doing some jagerbombs, and having a damn good time......obviously i remember, well i think i had fun, or did i hmmmmmm

x3 on the hallucinatory effect...first time I ever took it I was seeing purple elephants and such things. Ex was laughing at me. You're basically dreaming while awake, and while I've never had memory loss, what I've noticed is that the little bit before I fall asleep I tend to not remember details clearly. After taking a couple pills a month for the bad nights over the course of a couple years now I've built a small resistance to it, but it still packs a punch - without a full 8 hours of sleep for me I am hardcore hungover the next day on it.

Major green for catching this. Walgreens has 30# of the generic listed at $110, and I just switched insurance so can't get the non-generic covered anymore.

I happened to be checking prices and the prices go down substanitally the more you buy.

Its $12.47 for 30, $14.88 for 50 and $21.73 for 100.

Im guessing a Dr would write one for 90 to save you money.

Also noticed that Costco is LOTS cheaper on generic xanax than Sams.

$5 for 30 either .5 or 1.0s, $10 for 100. Im paying 8.68 at sams for 90 .5s.

If my Dr would write it for 90 days at 1/2 of a 1.0 I would pay $9 for 3 months supply as opposed to $26.04.

On the other hand, Pravastatin generic is cheaper at Sams. About half as much I think. I pay $8 for 30 40mgs.

I didn't expect you to get the joke with the amount of medication you're on. Take it easy my friend. Everything is going to be OK. You're a great person, don't ever forget that. Here's a hug......ME(YOU)ME

If you have insurance, can you still fill your script? Site says only for people without insurance. Even with generic my copy is $15. This would be less. I had to pay $50 a month copay on the regular. I've had chronic sleep issues for 20 years and it's a been a Godsend.

I work in WalMart pharmacy. go to WalMart.com, click on pharmacy, then go to the dropdown menu that says $4 generics. There are over 300 generics that are $4 for a normal months supply. sometimes you get 30, sometimes 90, sometimes just 10, depending on the drug.

target also does this same thing for $4.
