Uh, get two wings and sell one of them on eBay for $350. Take $150 of that and buy an unlocked inexpensive phone on eBay. Pocket $100.

two wings in a family plan ($49.99)?

ruth ann. i was surprised when i heard that name cuz im seeing to this cougar with the same name.. lol random crap i had to throw out there.. lol

Can somebody post the the instructions on how to set Tzones for internet access on WING. The setting and interface is completely different(I got this worked on Dash)

I got a dead pixel on mine, called and complained and they are doing an exchange for me (new one), plus I mentioned that I might not get my rebate because of this screw up, they gave me 50 dollar credit on the spot and told me to send it in anyway, because I might still get the rebate.

Can someone help my situation?

I am currently OOC, with a 4 line Family Plan. I need to keep 2 of the phone numbers. How should I go about maximizing on this deal? I cannot change the name on my account because I am currently recieving a promotion tied to my work.

I had a 3 line family plan, and when I called in to get this deal the csr told me I was eligible for up to 7(!) lines. Try calling in and see what your standing is.

received my Wing today. In order to get the $50 rebate, must I keep the number of the new line, or can I remove my existing old line (out of contract now) and transfer the old number to the new line?

Thanks OP and FatWallet again, it is a good time to use the new Wing to replace my iPAQ h6315 free from TMobile, a super deal 2 years ago

Yes, you most certainly can do this. Just call 611 on the phone once you get it, or you probably can do it while talking to the CSR and ordering the plans. I would personally wait until you have the phone in hand in order to have them switch the number, as it takes very little time (it is an internal T-Mobile port).

I don't see a menu command to choose phone band. Does it mean the system automatically switches if we travel to foreign countries?

btw, how to restart in windows mobile 6? just use soft reset or is there such a menu command?

There are ton of freeware utilities available. Try to google it. I'm using this one with Windows Mobile 5 and pretty sure it will work with windows mobile 6 too.

turn the phone off and back on

LOL! I'm replacing the old 6315 too! Good times.

Just in case that the rep gives you a hard time, you can mention that you saw the offer online at Microsoft's site here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/tmobile1/default.mspx

If you follow the links on the page, you can actually order online, though I am not sure if it allows you to add a new line instead of just order new service.

I think someone already posted this link, but I tried it before and it wouldn't work.

according to the Dash thread, I just used the MSDN REUSE to cancel my OOC phone and transfer my old number to the new line. Very smooth process.

I called in and asked to do the MSISDN REUSE. A really nice CSR asked me what I wanted to do, and I explained him that I wanted to close the OOC account and move the number to the new account. He put me on hold for a bit, then transferred me to an Account Spec, who was also nice. I asked again for the MSISDN REUSE, and he said that, since I had been a customer since 03, he'd cancel the new line and move the contract to the OOC line. He did asked me is I had signed any contracts with the store. I told him I had ordered directly from T-Mobile Business, and it just had the regular 12-month contract and no extra store contract. He made a little bit of small talk, and closed ht enew line so I it would be easier for me. Great experience overall. Now to cross my fingers and hope nothing gets screwed!

I was wondering if the rebates will work since your old number is now on the new account.

So my order just arrived, can I give the Wing to my brother who also has a T-Mobile account and just use the SIM with my unlocked RAZR phone? I'm a n00b in the GSM area so I'm not sure if I still have to call CSR to move the IMEI, ESN, etc. to his account.
Thanks.

Correct, you can use the Wing with your brother's Tmobile SIM, and your unlocked Razr with the new sim, you don't have to call in.

Has anyone tried to order online? I just did that and it requires two-year contract for any individual or family plan. Did they change the policy or we have to order on phone?

I would also like to know if anyone finds a good 3rd party screen protector.....also, in case you didn't search your box thoroughly, there was one screen protector shipped with the wing.

Pocket NESter works so well on this thing!!!

the screen protector that comes with it is rubbery and cr@p. looking for a good one . . .

Was able to score 3 of them with no issues. Thanks OP.

I ordered two yesterday and had them overnighted for an additional $14. I had two OOC lines on a 49.99 family plan plus the two new lines. I called tonight and requested the MSDN REUSE. The first CSR had a hard time understanding what I wanted to do but eventually caught on and said that she would cancel my two OCC lines and then port the numbers from these two lines over to the two new lines.

At this point I got switched over to a CSR in activations. He wanted to know what kind of deal I had gotten b/c he wanted to make sure he couldn't get me a better one. When I told him that I got 2 Wings for 100 each, he laughed and said that he sure couldn't beat that. But, he went on to say that he could certainly help me get back to just two lines with my original two numbers. He ended up just cancelling the two new lines outright and had me just move my old SIM cards over to the new phones. I'm not sure if he even extended my contract or not. I figure I'll have some one at a B&M store check that for me in the next couple of days.

I'm also not sure what's going to happen with the rebates with the two new lines no longer existing, but I'm going to send them in and see what happens.

Anyone else not able to run the T-Zones link from the Start Menu and not have Yahoo IM? I noticed this and went to Start > Settings > System > Clear Storage.

This will clear out everything (data, etc), when it came back up, I had to reset the Stylus and then it installed applications automatically. It added the following to Remove Programs:
Microsoft Live Search
T-Mobile Email Wizard 1.0
OZ Communications OZ IM
T-Mobile HotSpot Login Utility
Winwap Technologies Oy t-zones

Now on the Start Menu I get t-zones (and it works), Instant Messaging (ICQ, AIM, Yahoo), Set Up E-mail, HotSpot Login. On the Today Screen it added T-Mobile with a quick link to Communication Manager (used to have to tap the small icon).

If this helps anyone else out, let's put this in quick summary.

I have a plan, but I'm not sure it will work. I am on a Familyplan right now with 4 lines in contract. I want to open up another line to get a Dash/Wing for 99, then cancel my line and then MSDN REUSE the number to port over to my new line. If I renewed through the Tmobile website, I'd be paying 249.99 for a Dash and 400 for a Wing since I'm still in contract. I was thinking a cancellation in contract wouldnt be the full 150 penalty due to the text messaging increase and at WORST I'd be paying 249...any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

So what's the minimum level of service I can get this with? I'd totally do it, but only if I can stick to the basic $29.99 service ($5 for tzones is no big deal at all), it's not as if I'm a phone addict or anything.

I'm sorry, what is MSDN REUSE?
thanks... i tried searching in the forums title bar... but a bunch came up and i'm not sure i want to go through all of them especially if there are tons of pages in each thread to look through.
thanks
Iron

Which phone number do you call when you ask for "MSISDN REUSE"? I call "611" from my cell phone. That rep. does not know what I am talking about.

Correct, you can use the Wing with your brother's Tmobile SIM, and your unlocked Razr with the new sim, you don't have to call in.

Mostly correct, but not entirely. Tmobile will require you to make some phone calls with your SIM on the Wing in order to qualify for the rebate against your renewal. This happened to me last year; I got a RAZR for my wife by renewing for 1 year at CompUSA, then they denied the rebate because I hadn't personally used the RAZR with my SIM in it. I removed my SIM, put it in her RAZR, made a couple of calls, and then called back Tmobile and they approved the rebate.

Read the Quick Summary on the Dash thread.. If the CSR doesn't know what you are talking about, courteously say Good Night to them and call again and talk to someone else. You can also try to just tell them what you are trying to accomplish. You might get lucky (like me) and they will just cancel the new line and move the contract to the old one.

Sounds like I had the same experience that quite a few people are having. I initially talked to a csr after calling 611, asked for a "missdin" reuse and he said sure. He told me that it would be easier to just switch the sim cards, then I told him what I was going to do (switch #'s then cancel old line with new number). He connected me with an account specialist that listened to what I wanted to do and just canceled the new lines (which were part of a family plan) then told me to keep the phones and put the old sim cards in them. He said the very first rep I spoke when setting up the new lines and ordering phones should have done it as an upgrade. I asked him if I could upgrade my third line and get the same price and he said yes. However I doubt it, since the original deal says you need to do an activation, but it might be worth a shot if someone just asks for the deal price as an upgrade. Oh, and he told me that he doubts that I will get the rebates because the lines were canceled and I asked if we would have done the MSDN reuse would I have gotten the rebate. He said he didn't think so because the lines would need to be in existence when they processed the rebates. I guess you could keep them open until you got the rebate, but that's $10 a month until you get $50 back, so too much hassle. I'll just send them in and cross my fingers.
