He told me that it would be easier to just switch the sim cards, then I told him what I was going to do (switch #'s then cancel old line with new number). He connected me with an account specialist that listened to what I wanted to do and just canceled the new lines (which were part of a family plan) then told me to keep the phones and put the old sim cards in them. He said the very first rep I spoke when setting up the new lines and ordering phones should have done it as an upgrade. I asked him if I could upgrade my third line and get the same price and he said yes. However I doubt it, since the original deal says you need to do an activation, but it might be worth a shot if someone just asks for the deal price as an upgrade. Oh, and he told me that he doubts that I will get the rebates because the lines were canceled and I asked if we would have done the MSDN reuse would I have gotten the rebate. He said he didn't think so because the lines would need to be in existence when they processed the rebates. I guess you could keep them open until you got the rebate, but that's $10 a month until you get $50 back, so too much hassle. I'll just send them in and cross my fingers.

After much research, I called them and have them transfer my 2 OOC numbers to the new account, after talking to 3 reps, the last person did it for me, no problem. He said the rebate should be valid in this case, when filling in the form, use the OLD number (which is now transferred to new account). Hope he's right.

Good idea....use the old number, then it will still be active. Thanks for posting, I'll try that and hope.

Anyone have any recomendations for a GPS that would work with the Wing?

is anyone's IMEI number not working online for the rebate. : (. freaking A!!

Quoted from CNET review:The device isn't the best multitasker--it can sometimes slow to a crawl--and compared with the 3G-enabled Cingular 8525, Web browsing on the Wing seems downright pokey with EDGE speeds.

I completely agree with that.

how does this "missdin" reuse work?

What do I tell the CSR?

I am planning to take over someone's else phone / acct, and it'd be like totally new service with T-Mobile. So what do i need to do? I want to get discounts on the phone. So, do I activate a new line, then call CSR and tell them that i want to do "missdin" re-use and still able to keep the phone and use the phone # that i want to take over?

help me out on this.

sagupta said: is anyone's IMEI number not working online for the rebate. : (. freaking A!!

I tried the online rebate just now and it wouldn't take it saying that my IMEI is not valid for the rebate. When I called in to do the "missdin" reuse, they just canceled the newly activated lines and let me keep the phones at the price I paid. Does anyone know....is an IMEI number associated with a particular phone or a specific SIM card? If it's the SIM card, then it makes sense since they canceled the SIM card they sent me. But if the IMEI is with the SIM card and he would have done the "missdin", I would still have that SIM card, with my old number on it, and it might have worked. I guess they screwed me out of the rebate if this is the case.

hello,

I've been following this thread and just wanted to start off and say thanks to all that have provided information in regards to this fantastic deal.

Just called in and spoke with a rep and he confirmed that the deal is valid if you're an existing customer that is willing to add an additional line to your service.

I was wondering if anyone has a workaround to this? I'm new to Tmobile (just 6months) and am already on a family plan. The CSR said that since I'm not out of contract I can't add a line and cancel one of my older ones - "it just doesn't work that way" were his exact words.

I recall reading something along the lines of perhaps changing one of the older lines to a pre-paid line but am a little unclear as to how that would work and it seems to be a little bit of a jerry rigged solution.

Nonetheless if anyone has a workaround besides the prepaid line one then I'd love to hear it. Thanks again guys/gals!

since you are only 6 months into your contract, you would not be able to cancel your line unless you pay the ETF. changing to pre-paid only applies to people that are out of contract.

IMEI is an unique id number for your cell phone. It ties to the phone, not the sim card.

Do you have a deal for Cingular 8525 for $50 AR with only a 1-yr contract?

For rebate, should I remove the whole panet with SKU, UPC, IMEI, SN, PN, SIM or just remove SKU only?
Thank you

dont tell the operator you want to a new port... because that will transfer you to sales first(they think your from sprint)

Sweet. the guy had to note everything on the account. Then he transfered me to the cancellation department

BTW I asked for you guys.. the date that you join with tmobile will not change.

My account will show novemeber 05 and the new numbers will show May 07

Since you're 6 months into the contract you should fall under that change of terms of service cost that was going around a month or so ago. Basically you can get out of ur contract because T-Mobile change the price of their text messages or over use of such...not sure exactly, but that may be an "out" for you.

1. Headset (wired)
2. CD software
3. Manual
4. Charger
5. Screen protector
6. Extra stylus
7. USB/headset splitter (so you can use the headset while the phone is plugged in)

That's it I think

But one of my boxes didn't contain the screen protector, must be a packaging mistake.

Thanks Nguyent999....my came in almost all of the above, except no Xtra stylus but I got a phone case which the customer rep said it won't come along with it. Probably packaging mistake

I got both a phone case and an extra stylus.

Ah, my bad, it did come with the case. 100% genuine leatherette too.

Is there anything more to pay for besides my current $39.00 a month + $5 for 400 text messages?
Im kinda half lost here. I take it the internet is free ?? Or do you(I) have to be in a hot spot?

Also, whats the main difference between this and the sidekick ID ?

yes, I have a teenager .

I am newbee and need some help before I talk to CSR

I have two plan both out of contract :

1. $29 300/FN/FW
2. $39 1000/FW ( very old plan)

I would like to keep my no. and plan

Please advice, thank you!

Before I go and get the internet plan, has anyone gotten the T-Zones plan to work for internet browsing with the Wing? I don't have T-Zones to try this out and if it does work, $6 is alot better than $30.

Thank you for these tips. I did as you suggested and got the phone for $99 from the tmobile business direct. I was also able to get the unlimited interrnet via tzone. You have saved me a bundle! I am so pleased with my phone and the tmobile service. BTW I sitched from Cingular.

Hey guys ive been dying to get this phone but i dont know how to go about it, right now im on an Open Contract 2 line family plan. Now the question is what are the exact steps and how do i go about from there. Do i just call say the offer and then just upgrade the phone doing a 1 yr contract or is there more magic to it? can you guys tell me step by step and detailed including terms such as (ooc), on how to get the phone for 149-50 rebate

I got mine today.
I had called in the 611 from my old line and talked to CSR. His words of wisdom:
" Sir, this is clearly cheating. you are trying to go around the system. Why do you want to port your old number to these new lines? If you only wanted 2 lines, then why didnt you just get 2 phones as upgrades to your new lines/"

He wouldn't do it, neither did the CSR who was transferred into the closing accounts department.
Bummer. I guess, I will have to keep on trying.

Also, I noticed the phone in extraordinarily slow.
I am not even on Tzones or anything. I am connected to my Wi-Fi n/w at home. It takes ages to load the pages.

Does anyone know if getting an external SD card helps? If so, how? How will that improve the speed? I guess, this is my first PDA phone so am not sure how SD card adds up to the RAM onboard.

Does anyone know any settings to make the phone behave faster?
Thanks

Read the first post in the Dash thread, there's a toll free number to call to port the number, I had to call 3 times to have it done, but it can be done. The first 2 CSRs kept telling me I was cheating the system and they wouldn't do it, kindly hang up and call back.

An extra MicroSD card won't help with speed, you might want to try overclocking it to 247mhz (go to Howardforums for more info)

I have two phone which is OCC with TMO , Can I transfer old no?

I have OCC TMO line with old plan 1000 FN/W.

How do I keep old no. and plan?

thanks,

I got one line at first attempt. She was very pleasent and helpful.

RapaciousEbayer said: I played with a Q in a sprint store the other day to compare to my dash. the download speeds aren't fast enough to convince me to switch, especially with tmo rolling out their 3g network this year, as well as the one year contracts.

The noticeable difference happens when you're tethered to a laptop. then the speed difference is night and day.

the websites I used to test were eBay/comleted auctions, some private data intesive websites, fatwallet and Amazon. ymmv.

so if you're only using your smartphone and you don't plan to tether often, it's a tossup. for me the tmo speeds are fine as I only tether once or twice a month.

I also tested out the treo 700p and wx with similar results. it seems as though the device is the bottleneck when it comes to rendering pages.

as stated before, my experience is ymmv and yours may differ.

I'm hoping sprint comes out with a device later this year that is capable of rendering websites quickly enough to notice a difference. $30/month is tough to beat.

Have tethered Wing to laptop? If yes, can you share where I can find details about tethering?
Thanks in advance!

ooc = out of contract

if you already have contact which has not been expired, only option you have - add another line to your family plan for $10 + tax per month. This line will be in contract for 12 months from activation date and this contract is separate from your original family plan.

After your current lines become "out of contract", you should be able to cancel one of those and (most likely) transfer number from cancelled line to 3rd one.

I think you were drunk when you did the so called "comparison" THERE IS NO COMPARISON between Sprint's EVDO speed and T Mobile pathetic EDGE. They need to step up and upgrade to 3G and I have been hearing that they will, but never do!

Just called and got one. The (very polite) CSR took my order without any problems, but I was told that the rebate requires that I upgrade from the $29.99 base plan to at least the $39.99 plan. She indicated that I can stick with the more expensive plan until the rebate comes through (6 weeks), and then downgrade my plan to the basic stuff. However, a little wrinkle with this is that they'll re-start the contract, and she did not know if the new contract will be for 1 or 2 years. This is a rather big deal killer for me since I barely make any phone calls (100 minutes per month is about what I use).

Anyone got a different story on the plan requirements? What does the rebate form say?

Well my order went through just fine no hassle, just had to add a line to my acct. and thats it bingo!, it should be here on monday cant wait!

Could someone please post some one by one steps for the workaround to connect to the internet via the 5.99 Tzones? I have a dash and a wing. On the dash, I have no problem getting on the internet but the wing's settings are obviously different and I have no clue what to do. Please, someone help!!!

how is it possible to do the work around on a T-Mobile Pearl so that it can surf the web??
