What happens if i have Dish sattellite? Do i get HD channels by using a RF splitter in there too? I don't subscribe to DISH HD, just a regular Dish (dish model 322). |

Blueis300 - native resolution of 1024x768 seems to be the biggest flaw that sticks out to me. |

We are going into a new house and are buying everythin new. Think would be a good starter for the bedroom and living room? Ever hear any complaints on the brand? Compare to WalMart stuff ! |

Sturmie said:any reason i shouldn't swap the 37" sharp aquos i got a few months back for this one? my sharp has a dead pixel and i've been lazy with returning it (i got it just before the policy change, so i have all the time i need ). You got a good TV now. Swapping for this set is not a big jump, and most think the price will be 999 as a standard price after the sale,in a month or 3 anyway.
In your position I would wait until thanksgiving or later. |

Credit card purchases must be in the same name as the Costco cardholder. So I don't think you can do want you want to do. It is only $50 for the membership. |

Credit Card purchase not required to be the person's name on the Costco Card. My friend paid for his tv using his own credit card , and the card is under my name. |

Just checked out this tv, it is pretty decent. Not as good as some of the sharps that have very good angular independence, but pretty decent. Custom color teperature in each r,g,g, channel.
Good deal for the price.
Costco are stocking up on these unit I dont think they will sell out the first day. Our costco had 24, and 64 on order coming in tuesday. |

Today (06/24), two of the COSTCO warehouses here in Silicon valley have VIZIO VU42 42" LCD on their shelves. Compared with the rest of the LCD TVs (40" or larger) there, I noticed that the VIZIO VU42 is the ONLY one that has "white color" problem. This means, it shows "off-white" instead of "pure white", compared with all the other LCD TVs. I tried to manually adjust the picture in various ways, no luck. I thought that this was a defective TV. Hence, I drove to another COSTCO location. However, I noticed the same problem on that VIZIO VU42 TV! Compared with two other models of VIZIO TVs (other than VU42), they are fine. It looks like to me that VIZIO puts a cheap LCD into the VU line (Value line?).
Originally, I was very excited to get one on Monday. However, I changed my mind after that. I wonder if any one knows the quality of Magnavox 42MF437B. |

probably not setup right, its hard to get color correctly in the costco lights. If you walked in with a spectrophotometer, then it would be another issue.. |

This is exactly what a sale's person at Costco said. However, how come all the other TVs, including VIZIO brand that is NOT VU42, are capable of showing "pure white", but not VU42?
I asked that sale's person to do the adjustment for me so it can function like all the TVs at Costco. He spent 10 minutes, but made very little differences. He than said that maybe that VIZIO VU42 was defective. I then went to another Costco location, and saw the exactly problem while all the other TVs were good. I tried to adjust it by myself, but with no luck. I also asked people around me if they noticed this problem or not. They all said Yes.
Well, I know, I know, you might say: I don't care. That's fine with me. However, I do. |

Maybe that's why these are so cheap.
With HDTV prices falling so fast and with drastic improvements being made so quickly, it's worth it to wait, imo. If you can, wait until black friday. There will likely be better quality 1080P 42" tv's for the same price (or cheaper!).
Also, it seems like the Vizio owners/enthusiasts are extremely vocal on numerous internet forums. And I initially bought into the hype, especially since they're so much cheaper. But I've spent many hours at Costco, Fry's, etc. staring and adjusting these tv's and the Vizio's almost always look the worst in comparison to others. Granted, if the Vizio was sitting there by itself, it would probably look fine. But they just don't look as good compared to the Panasonics or Samsungs or Sonys. Just my 2 cents.
But if Vizio ever does make a tv with excellent PQ, and it's cheap, I'll be first in line to buy one. |

Do you even know what you are talking about on this topic? You spent many hours at Costco looking at uncalibrated TVs and drawing conclusions from there? I feel sorry for you. And yes, wait until BF 2010 to make your purchase. I am sure you will score this tv for about $500 cheaper than it is today. But it will be all worth the wait, til *ahEM* newer technology comes out and you wait yet again. |
