CPTfindAdeal said:Neophyte question( and no, I'm not on the website for convicted neophytes!): I thought the biggest expense was in emission conversions to meet US standards, especially for CA? Not sure about other states, but I seem to recall this being a huge deal breaker in the past on similar deals. These are US spec cars. They are the same cars that are normally shipped from factory to dealer.

For those contemplating buying a BMW, consider becoming a member of the BMW CCA (Car Club of America). They used to have a rebate program (not sure if still going on) whereby if you buy a BMW after having been a member for 2 CONTINUOUS years, you get a rebate from them varying from $500 - $1000. Membership fee used to be $35 per year. Considering you also get a 5-10% discount from some BMW parts dealers, it can help to offset the $35 annual fee. But of cos this requires some planning since you have to have been a member for 2 years PRIOR to your new BMW purchase. ALSO make sure you have 2 years uninterrupted membership as I have heard stories where they were denied the rebate because the membership lapsed for a few days. So I suggest you opt for the 2 years membership fee upfront to avoid such a situation.

If a member co-signs for a vehicle with another car club member, both must reside in the same household, but, there can only be one rebate submission.
3. This program is not available in conjunction with other special purchase programs offered by BMW of North America, LLC, including but not limited to the Vendor Program or any other certificate offer.

ED is a no-brainer for BMWs. In most of NorthernCalif, you should be able to do about 500-700 over ED invoice. No advertising fees etc. either. get a vacation, and come out ahead. best kept secret..

Even better now that only 1 year is required. Perhaps changed to 1 year because of the complaints that even a 1 day lapse in a 2 year membership caused denial of a rebate. Yep a little bit of planning is best to take advantage of the rebate. After rebate, it's quite possible to get the BMW below ED invoice.

Don't forget the animals. I ran over some squirrels on the way to filling up my BMW.

It's a shame BMW doesn't extend ED to their motorcycles.

Which dealer and which model for $50 over invpoice?

brownie20 said:i bought a bimmer a few weeks ago at basically invoice (maybe $50 more than invoice?), but if i had gone the ED route and paid about $1000 above ED invoice (a "fair" deal), i would have saved $1-2K. you need to really look at the prices to appreciate the savings...

BMW mileage: on my 5 on highway gets 37 miles. Not bad.
