The fact that it's a quadband phone for the price and very good reception is enough for most people. Nobody is touting it as a loaded phone. But it's a basic phone that can be used anywhere in the world there is GSM.

It's Quad Band for Int'l Travel, and for some a camera is a negative (for places that don't allow it).

Izpoof said:Whats the big deal with the v195? I got this for my ole lady last year, althou its a nice phone, its has no camera, cannot get pics directly onto it and has no external memory.
I just dont see the big woop over it when their were other phones(at the time) that were about the same price with more features.

Is it true that Tmobile outsources phone CSR to India?

I've never gotten a CSR in India and I've had T-Mobile prepaid since 06.

I've never gotten a CSR with a foreign accent so I've never been inclined to ask where they are located.

If they are trained well enough that it is not obvious (from their accent etc.), then why would you even care (as long as you get good care, I mean)?

I asked because I did get bad ones, wasted a lot of time; called back found a good one and issue quickly resolved.

This thread has been derailed somewhat.

Anyway, Moto V195 (I have 3 as backups) is still one of the best basic phones out there, especially for the price tmobile was offering it for. It looks like it will not be back anytime soon if ever. At $29, for a quadband it can't be beat. Heading to Europe/Africa in a few weeks and they will certainly come in handy.

Got good result with Bing, fat wallet, etc.

Hey, same with me. They are clueless as to how I can unlock it. They say to "borrow" a SIM card from a friend on another service and see if it asks me for the unlock code. I haven't tried it yet. Did you ever find out whether yours was already unlocked?

Note that the V197 has been on sale at Amazon for $45, which is the unlocked version of this phone.. Not the same deal, but IMHO it is still a good option if you need a basic phone for int'l travel without any unlock hassle...
