Agreed. The $25 minutes card has been a frequent addition lately with TMO. |

It says 90 days but I called on the first week just to try it out and they emailed me the unlock code withing 24 hours. I bought my V195 on eBay. I went through the unlock procedure that T-Mobile sent me but there was no "SIM Unlock" option on the final menu. There was just the option for "Browser Setup". I'm guessing that means it is already unlocked. I've asked T-Mobile but I haven't heard back.
Did you try it with the other sim in it? |

T-Mobile.com is not letting me order this phone online, it takes all my information(address n cc#) then a screen pops up which says "We're sorry, but we are currently unable to process your order online. Please visit one of our retail stores to complete your order." anybody have any idea why this is happening? I have ordered abt 3 T-Mobile to go phones in last 1 year, can that be a reason that they donn wanna gimme nemore phones? does anybody else got this ph yet?? |

Good deal on a good phone.
First let me correct all the "geniuses" here that seem to have been born yesterday.....
The $25 free recharge card that comes with a new T-Mobile to-go phone package, has been appearing on and off for a VERY long time, not just recently. I got one more than a year ago when I bought a tmo2go phone. BUT, you CANT count on the discount which lowers the price of the V195 to $39.99, to remain for long. In fact, you can be sure it won't last long, and most likely by the time the free $25 recharge card comes back, the price of the V195 will go back up to $129.
This phone is indeed a quad-band phone, and is definetly worth more than $40, but not just because of quad-band, but because it's one of the best "basic" phones. It has good voice quality, and VERY long battery life, supports bluetooth, and has good keypad and overall design. It is still considered a basic phone because it does not have features like a camera, high resolution screen, mp3 player, or high-speed data (3G). So it's not a multimedia powerhouse, but it's great for making calls.
With regard to unlocking the phone, you should be able to get T-Mobile to give you the unlock code. After unlocking the phone, you can verify that it's unlocked BY PUTTING IN A SIM CARD FROM A DIFFERENT CARRIER (not T-Mobile) !!!! For example, a cingular sim card. If you don't have one, ask a friend that has a cingular phone, or buy one on e-bay for a few bucks.
Note that you get $10 worth of prepaid minutes with a new tmo2go phone, so this is defintely a great deal considering that this phone goes for about $75 on e-bay without a sim card. You need to add $90 to get to the gold rewards level, which ensures that your minutes don't expire for an entire year. See T-Mobile website for explanation of the gold rewards and cost of recharge cards. Also howardforums.com has a forum deidcated to tmo2go users. |

I got this phone a few weeks ago for the same price(with the bonus $25 card, which I sold on eBay for $23), and I have been really happy with it. Like someone said, this is a great 'basic' phone. It works extremely well with my Plantronics 510 bluetooth headset. People cannot tell that I am using a bluetooth headphone. I live in the city of Portland, OR, and I always get full signal strength. |

i don't know, it's been at this price for awhile now... i don't think it's just a "special" that's only around for a limited time. it seems more likely for t-mo to sell out and take this phone off of their prepaid phones list (that happened with the nokia 6103 last month) than to raise the price. so it may be worth it to wait for the card... that comes around about every 3 weeks it seems. just my 2 cents. |

This does look like a nice basic phone and a decent deal. However, this phone is #1 on the list of phones emitting the highest radiation. Just FYI.

Your link is for V195s so is the radiation the same??
Almost identical to the V195 in form and function, the V195s adds support for T-Mobile's My Faves service and thankfully, it offers improved audio quality as well. |

Just my 2 cents. I had the Nokia 6103 and the Motorola v195. I found the v195 to be much more user friendly and had a brighter screen. With the Nokia, I could not see the screen in daylight to make any calls. Also, I believe the v195 has more memory. I picked up the Cardio Systems Scala-500 bluetooth headset from CompUSA ($10 after rebate, past deal) and the color scheme matches perfectly. |
