can this phone be unlocked???

I had problems getting my Motorola phone unlocked by TMobile. Eventually had to installed new firmware from motorola UK site and got it opened.
Getting all of my Nokia phones unloacked from TMobile was never an issue. If you are getting this motorola unlocked from someone other then TMobile , then you should be OK

In motorola case, CSR left 0 in the end of IMEI number, which is by default zero in case all Tmobile IMEI sytem verification and after that I was always told that this phone is not sold by YMobile...Anyways thought of sharing mr experience on this

Yes, one request every 90 days.

You need to flex the phone with a Chinese language pack, 015 for simplified Chinese. Unsure about traditional.

Thanks, I did this for a motorola L2, I thought the language packs are phone specific? So you mean 015 will work for any motorola? Thanks.

015 is the language pack code that has SCh... each firmware version should have their own lang pack so no it will not work on any motorola phone.

Realize that a quad-band is only useful if you are outside of North America. A friend of mine tried to argue that these phones would allow you to roam on other carriers in the US. Dual bands (850/1900) are more easily available and should be all that you need for GSM in the states. Good reference here:

Could you please explain what does the "flex" mean?

lucky for me that I'm already a T-Mobile prepaid customer for a couple of years now !

Let me just comment that Verizon is INFINITELY better than T-Mobile, and I only use T-Mobile as a low cost ($10/year haha) backup service.
For prepaid plans which use Verizon's network, the best ones are Page Plus and Alltel-U. See the link below for info.

Agree with Verizon network being really really good. I'm thoroughly impressed, after trying out other networks.

Also, Ampd prepaid is another Verizon MVNO that uses Verizon network. search for threads about Ampd. But there can be serious Cust. Service issues with Amp'd but if you manage to steer clear of them it works flawlessly.

why is tmo taking so long this week to
put up the $25 tmo to go card????

I got the phone today and flashed it with a chinese language pack. Oh, it is almost funny.

After flashing with the language pack, the dispaly on the phone is inverted. Mann, since I can't back up the phone with FLASH&BACKUP, I did not back up the original. Am I screwed or what?

I can't stop but laughing through.

I fixed the problem, well, sort of. But at least I can make calls, send text messages without killing my neck. Except my v195 thinks it's a V191 now. LOL.

Verizon's customer service is trash, their phone feature disabling is trash, and their service costs more to boot. In major cities, reception on tmobile is pretty much on par with verizon, at least in the DC area(with the exception of the metro).
