In last sale this model was about $400 shipped from bestbuy business.

Nothing fancy but good for basic use, should have one free memory slot so easy to upgrade to 1GB.
May not be the best config but for $299 plus tax I won't complain. Good luck.

I second that
definately no complaints @ such a price
thanks for sharing the deal

I wish there was a way to check store inventory... My local BB is too far away to go on a whim.

GOOD deal. Online shows $599.

This might or might not work...

Store locator

or maybe this one:

maybe?

The top one for me shows all local stores have stock, while the bottom one shows 3 of the 5 stores have stock.

We all know how these "store locators" go for BB clearance items.

My local best buy still has it listed at $399. Is there any way to price match with OP's price?

Thanks, OP. My current laptop computer is a 4 year old Compaq Presario that's beginning to show its age. If my local Best Buy really has one of these in stock for $299 OTD (about which I have my doubts, no offense), I'll probably finally make use of my $60 in Best Buy gift cards and buy it.

With the addition of some more RAM, it ought to be more than capable of doing pretty much anything I'm likely to ask of a laptop computer. (The truly heavy duty work is done on the desktop machine.)

I find it surprising that no one has yet tossed in a ridiculous "Sales tax kills the deal" comment.

There are two different laptops. The one for $399 has the sku 8273067. This one sku is 8230489. Both are AS3680. My local BB has this laptop, but it's an open box and adapter is missing.

Are you the same guy who posted the ridiculous $470 for a flat screen CRT Sony TV last night?

Fatty... you shouldn't have... naughty naughty...

This lappy has one PCMCIA Type II slot. That's a very nice feature for such a new lappy. Many of the new ones lack PCMCIA support. Impressive . . . . . and useful.

Thanks to the OP.

Ditto.

But after four telephone calls earlier today I have discovered there is NO way. On other items . . yes. But not on a discontinued item of this nature.

The idiots at BB, when an item is discontinued, purge all inventory data from their global system. This makes inventory access via their toll-free number, which is what I was calling, impossible.

Store-by-store inventory data continues to be available at the stores locally. But that's it.

I know enough NEVER, EVER! to telephone the store. It is a dumbass thing to do.

But in this situation you either call the store or drive there - and for me, like you, that's an 80 mile round trip I do not want to and cannot afford to make for nothing. I would make the trip if I knew the item were in stock.

Tough situation.

Why can't BB be like Staples. Staples maintains a store inventory database at a national level until items are SOLD. This saves customers from having to call or visit a Staples B&M store just to check inventory.

Typical BB incompetence and BS. They are Neanderthals.

Finally, I was trying to learn their inventory position by telephone earlier this morning, three hours before the store even OPENED. Had I been able to learn the inventory situation at my BB store, and had it been favorable, I would have left early and been there when they opened. But without the data I could do nothing. This is just another way I am hurt by this BB database mis-management fiasco. It would be OK for this to happen were it, say, 1985. But this is 2007!!! Hey BB, modernize for heaven's sake - start serving your customers and stop living in the past.

None available in NY and CT ( They had one in NY store, but the deny afterwards. CS want to buy it I guess.

Don't forget the High Speed Internet deal! Sign up through BB and get $100 off the purchase. I signed up through a local company and have 30 days to cancel. I plan to do so this afternoon. Easy $100 in my opinion!

I'm also interested in this, is it possible to cancel the service before they come and install it.

My BestBuy had this laptop for $399.

Today I went to BB and they were sold out. But I got the display model instead. They gave me a $50 GC also. The laptop can out to be less than $300. Thanks OP!

that's a newer model, with M 520 CPU for $399

The 520 model is $399 in Columbus, Ohio also. At Tuttle Crossing they were out except for the display, and they wanted $399 for that as well. The had none of the other one.

OOS in Madison, WI.

I picked one up yesterday for $210 after $30 GC and $60 discount for lack of power supply. The first store I went to did not have any, but they were able to look up the inventory levels of other stores in the region, some hundreds of miles away. Luckily they showed a store about 20 miles away that supposedly had two in stock. When I got there they could only find one, open box and missing power supply. I got a $30 GC for the open box, and they deducted Acer's price for the power supply from the price. Got home and found that my Compaq N620C's power supply works perfectly on it. So far, all is well. Very nice. Thanks OP!

Picked up one of these yesterday. Booted it up today and discovered that mine has a Celeron M 430 and 120GB hard drive. Sweet!

grabbed one in Emeryville store, probably the last one in the bay area according to their system, open box with everything, first the guy said it would be 5% open box credit, then after i applied the $100 HS internet signup credit, he said i couldn't double dip, no need to argue with him as i was happy with my $200 lappie, thanks OP

Has anyone notice that the sound from the left speaker is louder than the sound from the right speaker. Im not sure how to fix it.
