I can't seem to verify on that whether it takes ide or sata drives.. I see a comment that mentions ide but.. I want to be sure before I buy it.

According to the spec tab on the Newegg product page it takes an IDE HD....the connection from the external HD enclosure to the PC is USB 2.

In other words the external hard drive enclosure itself takes a HD with an IDE connector....if you can trust the specs?

Okay thanks... i thought i read the specs.. maybe i was just confused about the whole 2.5" vs 3.5", etc.

Maybe I'll give it a shot.

i pulled this up searching for harddrive enclosures, is this list at the beginning of the thread active or is it from last year?

I got a Morning Star enclosure back in the spring, the power supply promptly died (POS) after a few months (very very light usage; the LED on the PSU brick doesn't light up and it doesn't power the enclosure).

Is there anywhere I can get another? Or is it not worth it.

Is it (not) recommended to use the power supply from another I got around the same time? (Eagle Consus)

thx
