Sony is pushing out another new upgrade ps3 which features like over 100GB hard drive and stoped making the ones with 20gb hd long time ago.

Not fun being a gamer though ... I bought a Wii at midnight when it came out and am now afraid at what it could do to the video game industry. The fact that it's selling like hotcackes with extremely poor visuals (when compared to PS360) makes me fear that developers will stop making high quality games and just focus on "fun" games that have high profitability and low cost.

Conclusion? We'll be getting worse looking games (for instance Katamari going to Wii from PS3) and lower quality. It'd be like not getting any more big Blockbuster movies and only small budget films that make a lot of money ... sad

If I were in the market to buy a PS3, in my opinion for games it is a waste since there are no system seller games yet, what I would do is wait till a couple days before it is rumored to officially be a price drop and buy it at a best buy or Circuit City. Then after they all start advertising that it is 499, and the store circulators are totally floating around take the competitor's ad back to best buy or Circuit City and ask for your 110% price match, they have to give you back 100 bucks plus 10% of the difference in price so you save an extra 10 bucks. so you really get the PS3 for 489 plus tax.

Does Amazon charge you shipping for the PS3? If not that is the best way to go if shipping is free or less than tax would be in my state where it is ~40 bucks tax on 489.

No I'm saying games are going to get crappier but sell more.

I like watching "Happy Gilmore" but sometimes I want to watch "Saving Private Ryan" ...

Also, there really aren't that many "fun" Wii games ... not many games have utilized the Wiimote well so far...

I'd like more than just minigames... sure Raving Rabbids was OK but do we really need Mario Party 8, Warioware, and a million other games where you shake the Wiimote to do a generic activity on a low resolution game that makes blood spurt out of your eyes how bad it looks comparable to PS360?

Don't know why you are at this thread. You obviously hate the PS3 and love the Wii so don't know why you have to threadcrap. I know this is a fact since you make up claims to support your opinion. In fact it is the PS2 that is kicking everyones a.., including the Wii. And yeah, it is many years old.

I tend to agree with you in some aspects. I think the 360 and PS3 were roughly 3-5 years early. Not many households have HDTV's to take full advantage of whats in the box. The "mainstream" is what the Wii is all about. Thats why it is selling so many. I don't think we will continue to see low quality games but it is going to take some time for everyone to catch up technology wise. That is why the Wii is such a hot seller. Nintendo realized that the market isn't ready for a Full HD console. Nintendo has already announced when the Wii came out that their next console WILL be HD capable. By then, there will be a much larger market to target. For now, Nintendo is reaping the harvest...Sony priced themselves out of the market as many of the major game makers, ie. Namco, Square, are going to put more money into great Wii games as it isn't nearly the cost to make as a PS3 game. I don't have a PS3 but I will get one eventually. Even at a $100 price drop, it still doesn't make up for the fact that there really aren't that great of games out there for the system. We'll have to see what E3 has in store for us...

I wouldn't give it to them, my customized "fatty" version PS2 can load programs from a USB stick and games from the hard drive (load times are amazing)

I'm seriously thinking about getting a PS3, but like others have said, the games that I want aren't out yet and by then there could be more discounts. However, as a blu-ray player alone it is still cheaper than the alternatives. Then again, there aren't that many blu ray movies that I absolutely need right now either. Then again it is pretty functional as a media hub and more powerful than any laptop/desktop at $500. It also CAN play PS2 games and may solve the frame rate issues on certain ones so maybe those can make the console useful until the good PS3 games come out. Ok I'll stop talking to myself now..
Better check the list first, you CANNOT play ALL PS2 games on the PS3, but most you will be able to.

I doubt many will find a game in their collection that isn't compatable. I checked all my PS1 and some of my PS2 games and haven't found any that didn't work on the PS3.

The virtual memory card feature comes in handy for the PS1 games, didn't realize you could do that till recently.
