$499 for PS3 is still too expensive... however, the trickle effect down to MS will be great for consumers... |

And yet you read posts about price drops for the PS3. Are you a troll or just a loser who is used to getting his arse kicked? He's both. Prior to the console releases, he wouldn't shut up about how Wiis would be sitting on shelves and PS3 would be the hottest seller ever. |

SONY = BOSE = OVERPRICED JUNK Yeah, another great informational post... Overpriced is not really true. Sony is losing money for every console they sell, with the hopes of making it back on movie and game sales. The blu-ray player capability of the PS3 alone is worth the $500. If you think of it as a really good upconverting DVD player + blu-ray player + so-so game machine, it's still reasonably priced especially with these new price cuts. As for the Wii, the motion control sensor is well suited for only a limited number of games. The majority of games seem to have the motion controls tacked on as an afterthought making the game more frustrating than enjoyable. |

TOO BAD IF SONY IS LOSING MONEY, DO YOU CARE? They are robbing you blind at every chance. I'll take my OPPO 970HD and a good PC any day of the week....... |

I'll take my OPPO 970HD and a good PC any day of the week....... Ok, I need some kind of HD player, HD-DVD, blu-ray, I don't care. I also need to be able to play next gen games. Please advise on the best course of action that IS reasonably priced. Note: I'm not flaming you, I'm seriously asking as I need to decide this soon |

Not particually a xbox 360, Wii, or PS3 fan or bias toward/against for any of them. I got a Wii just because it's cheap and I got a mod chip for it for only $30 (thanks fatwallet) Logically speaking to me at $499 it's a good buy for the PS3 - I can replace my PS1, PS2, console with it - It upconverts the ps1,ps2, dvd to 1080p - It's a BR movie player. - Next Gen console. I would jump in if it can play DIVX/XVID, mpeg1/2 files off DVDR that way it can replace my Philips 5960 too green for OP |

All electronics have some problems... but not many as large as the xboxes however it has a 3 year warranty on its major problems, which is a awsome electronics warranty so if it hasent broke by then than it will probably be able to go in the closet next to your pong/atari console. In three years these next gen machiens will really be aged with dx10 out in full force, (the wii currently proves me wrong on this point but Ill wait and see). If the Ps3 had any games of intrest I would get one as its a well rounded console looks/buld/functons.
Disclaimer : I own 3 xbox 360s, they function seamlessly as HD mediacenter extenders so take my words with a grain of salt. andycandy said:does the ps3 have any problems like the 360 ? like overheating (3 red rings) |

Ok, enough already, if you don't like the PS3 leave. If you are trolling, leave. Please get back on topic. This thread isn't a which console is the best thread. Feel free to start one in Off Topic if you wish. Please talk about where this deal is live and what stores do or do not have this deal. |

Anyone find other stores at the $499 price or get a successful pricematch?I got a price match at Best Buy this afternoon. I had bought it there 3 weeks ago and they gave me $110 back after they took about 45 minutes to figure out if they could price match it. |

Did you just have them call? |
