Anyone find other stores at the $499 price or get a successful pricematch?
I got a price match at Best Buy this afternoon. I had bought it there 3 weeks ago and they gave me $110 back after they took about 45 minutes to figure out if they could price match it.

What was your proof of price at Target? Did you just have them call?
They called Target to verify the price. The reason it took 45 minutes was they were looking into something to do with Sony price protection.

agreed. people are better off with the 360 and its overheating problems.

Agreed, PC gaming for the win baby!!!

SONY = BOSE = OVERPRICED JUNK

Yeah, another great informational post... Overpriced is not really true. Sony is losing money for every console they sell, with the hopes of making it back on movie and game sales. The blu-ray player capability of the PS3 alone is worth the $500. If you think of it as a really good upconverting DVD player + blu-ray player + so-so game machine, it's still reasonably priced especially with these new price cuts. As for the Wii, the motion control sensor is well suited for only a limited number of games. The majority of games seem to have the motion controls tacked on as an afterthought making the game more frustrating than enjoyable.

No. It is not reasonably priced. TOO BAD IF SONY IS LOSING MONEY, DO YOU CARE? They are robbing you blind at every chance.

I'll take my OPPO 970HD and a good PC any day of the week.......

Ok, I need some kind of HD player, HD-DVD, blu-ray, I don't care. I also need to be able to play next gen games. Please advise on the best course of action that IS reasonably priced.

Note: I'm not flaming you, I'm seriously asking as I need to decide this soon

You're not a convincing liar....flame suit ON.

It sounds like money is no object for you, why do you even bother with Fatwallet?

BTW, just where are affordable BR discs and games for this thing. Seriously, I need to decide soon...

Who said money is no object for me? You said the PS3 is not fairly priced, I don't want to get ripped off. Right now my options are, as far as I can see:

1. PS3 - $500
2. XBox360 + HD-DVD drive - $500/$600
3. PC + HD-DVD/Blu-ray drive - ~$800 is my most conservative estimate judging from recent FW deals

As for the affordability comment, what's affordable to you isn't the same as what's affordable to me. I'm willing to pay what is justified for products that I want, however I don't spend money stupidly and pay more than I have to. What I'm looking is a HD player and next gen gaming machine, just because you think HD movies and next gen games are too expensive doesn't mean I shouldn't get them. I don't know why you feel the need to mock me when I asked a simple question, if you don't want to help then fine, but when you made your comment it sounded like you know of a better deal.

Would your local Target need to have it at the $500 price? Ie if mine doesn't it can I have my local Best Buy call your Target?

I went to the local Target first to check the price and it was $499. I'm not sure if they'll match it if the local Target doesn't have it at $499?

Please watching the flaming and arguing.

Giving your opinion is fine, but remember to respect each others opinion if you want to have yours respect.

Confirmed at one Target next to me but another is still at $599.

Went to Best Buy for a price match and it gets complicated but it can be done.

Price is $600 at the target in Vallejo, CA.

I bought mine on 6/11 (my bday) so if they go on sale on 7/15 wonder if Target still does PM. Anybody knows?

TIA

this may have been mentioned already....local target flyer - nothing in it about the new price

How about a 10% off Target coupon or even better a 10% coupon for an online order + 4% Fatcashback?

I can't even find the PS3 on the Target.com website, only in-stores, which effectively makes any 10% off coupons worthless.

Alternative option is apply for a Target Card and get 10% off your fist purchase and use it in-store..

alert mods

BEST BUY already has it on their website for $499 so pricematching for the 110% deal is void.

All Best Buy Stores must honor the BB website pricing.

"A Target store in Rancho Cucamonga in California" Thats the city next to mine, like 5 mins away, I will go get one and report back. this would be the 5th ps3 I buy if I get it. I sold 3 at lauch to eBay suckers , kept one.

I can't speak for everyone but I think it's due to the extra 10% from price matching and also the free blu-ray movies (but that last until September)

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents worth: PS3, from what I remember doesn't upconvert.

I had no idea!! This a smoking deal then. I should look into selling my unopened HD-A2 and buy PS3 instead. I am not much of a gamer (haven't even touched my XBox 360 in a year and a half) but this is still an excellent deal.

alert mods

To stop losing market share to Wii, Sony better cuts PS3 price to $399. NOW!

It seems new ps3 controller with rumble is just around the corner. http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/10307.cfm

I'll wait a bit to buy. At least untill end of august before 5 free disk deal dries up.
