What is maximum HDTV resolution on this? Will it do 1080i? How do I figure it out? Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the post! I went and picked up one of these using that coupon. I've been looking for a good deal on a decent sized LCD for a while. I haven't hooked it up yet but it should work just fine for a bedroom tv.

I picked one up this afternoon. Exterior wise, this cheap TV looks much better then other cheap TVs I've seen. Was going to get an Olevia but tired of waiting.
OTA HDTV looks great! No more staticy image! Was watching Wheel of Fortune and counting Vanna's wrinkles. Going to hook up to the cable line and see how QAM HDTV looks later. The only cons I can think of is the remote seems flimsy and it took long time to search for channel for initial set up. First LCD TV so don't know if it takes long for other LCDs as well.
Any one have any inputs on extended warranty, Staple wants $133.xx for 2 year extended, no way I am paying that. Roll the dice and go warranty less?
My final price was $476.xx with 8.375% tax. I am liking this TV a lot. Hopefully it will last 4+ years.

Extended warranties on lcd...according to consumer reports, its a bad idea in general. It is rare at this age for an LCD HDTV to fail within the first two years. Life expextency is around 20 years at 8 hours per day I believe, for a typical LCD HDTV...I could be off on that by a bit, I'm not great with numbers.

I got it today and something caught my eye. On page 22 of the manual which is here, it says, "NOTE: This TV set does not provide HD video Output." Can somebody educate me what this means? I am going to call them tomorrow morning and let you guys know what I find out.

I also just bought this TV with the coupon! I also purchased the two year warranty but I only paid $70 for mine. I don't know why it cost $133 for you?
So far I am loving this TV!! The QAM tuner is great! Another plus is that this TV has two HDMI inputs! Wow!

I also saw that and was wondering the same thing.Let us know what you find out.Who are you going to call as I didn't see any number in the owners manual?
I also bought mine with the 12% off coupon, bringing the cost down to $439.99 plus tax.I'm sure between Labor day and Christmas 32" cheap HDTV's will fall to around $399, but who wants to wait in those lines. Besides, I had to pull the trigger sometime. As an earlier poster mentioned, the initial setup took rather long. When searching for channels, it was stuck on 77% for about 10 minutes, and the whole process took about 20 minutes !!!!! I got a LOT of new channels.
I was also disappointed with the owners manunal.Rather basic. I expected more literature to come along with the tv.
So far....2 hours....it seems good. Today I'll put it to the test and see how good this baby is.I just have regular cable.....so we'll see.

I was more concerned about the TVs components (power supply, board circuitry, backlight, etc.) failing then the actual LCD failing. But either way, I am too cheap for extended warranties.

This probably means that movies on HD-DVD/BluRay DVDs can't be outputted (is that a word?) to something else like a DVD recorder. I think this is true of other TV's as well.

An extended warranty is available directly from Envision Lifespan. The price is $39.99 for 3 years and $59.99 for 5 years.

Most platinum card offers automatic double warranty & gives you the option to purchase additional warranty. Visa Warranty Manager.
Here is one example: Price range:$401-550 --->3 year=$52.99 --->5 year=$78.99 warranty.

Experiences so far:
I have one dead pixel in the upper left corner, no biggie! HD channels via my cable provider is awesome! I was watching Leno last night with J.Lo as the guest, wow she's even hotter in HD~! Also, I powered my modded XBOX with XBMC (Xbox Media Center) and the results were amazing! The built-in upscaling (420i to 720p) inside XBMC for standard def movies is jaw dropping. Unfortunately I cannot compare this TV to anything else since I am the first owner of a HDTV LCD in my family in my area but the jump from SD to HD is simply amazing.
I think the "no HD output" in the manual is via the external output jacks to another HD input because it outputs to HD fine with HD programming (OTA, component, HDMI).
ok...my 36 inch rca tube tv died....last night. I like crt because I have HEARD...that watching standard definition on cable (some channels) through a HD LCD or Plasma looks like junk.
will this tv look better than my CRT tv in standard def...or is there any TV./
some folks say I should look for 720 tv since they are better at standard def.
and standard def includes watching regular dvd via component or svga cables...
I went to best buys and saw them playing a regular dvd in one HD tv and it looked so fuzzy and blurry and not sharp like on my CRT old tube TV.
Also I heard the LCD dont have good blacks and whites...that is very important for me since I must have great contrasts...which plasmas have...but I seen horrible burn in on plasma sets...
we sent a man to the moon..but still cant make tv's better than CRT. (at standard def)
I know...hidef iw the way to go...but not all channels are hi-def...and I am not going to throw out all my dvd for hi def dvd.
I plugged this baby into my REGULAR cable.NO HDMI cables. Took about 20 minutes for the TV to auto scan all the channels. My regular cable system offers 90 channels of BASIC cable.
I now still get those channels.....PLUS....all 90 of them in what I assume is Digital ( 480 i/p).....PLUS an additional 75 " NEW" Digital channels, including about 50 of them music. Add to that 15 " over the air" HD channels (720p/1080I) !!!! All of this without spending an extra penny on new cables, antennas or paying for additional services. Now I assume I may need cables to hook up my DVD player. I am NO EXPERT when it comes to HD so I hope this makes sense.
The TV works like a charm. The sound on digital sounds a bit different and not as easy to adjust than the ' regular" channels and the owners manual is not that detailed, but for $ 439 it is a bargain !!! Yes, it is a no name brand so we shall see.
Again, I'm no expert when it comes to HD, how it should really look, what channels broadcast HD some of the time or all the time, etc. And yes, you can use it as an LCD monitor for your computer. Heck, they even included the cable for that.
Sorry for the newbie question, but if you use this TV and dont' have Cable, do you have to have a different anteanna to get OTA HD broadcasts? (currently I have a 27" tube tv with Rabbit ears, yes I live in the stoneage.)
I used the rabbit ears that were connected to my old set. The regular channels came in better with the lcd tv and it picked up the hdtv channels as well.

Update [8/1/3007]:
Called the Envision customer support 888-838-6388 twice. Hung up after listening to music for 10 minutes.
Sent an e-mail about this and other issue. Got [useless] answer for the first question and did not get answer for this issue.
Other posters mentioned that this means if somebody wants to record off of the TV, the resulting signal will not be in HD. It makes good sense to me and I am fully convinced that that is the right answer.
Overall impression of the set is good so far. Has been running continuously since last night [trying to see if there are going to be any problems]. Since it is my first widescreen, LCD and HD [I know, I am living in primitive times based on FW standards!], I have nothing to compare against. Image quality from DVDs that came from my SONY camcorder are very impressive even without upsampling.
Yet to experience high def because the set is not receiving the local PBS [which broadcasts both SD and HD on the same channel] in HD although it is receiving in SD OTA. Debating whether to upgrade my DishNetwork service or to get an antenna.

There are 10 $50 off $500 coupons for instore purchases floating around on eBay. I picked one up and I'm going to try to buy this TV with it + 12% off coupon.
Just picked up 2 with the 12% off.. came out to $952 after tax. They didn't even question me on the 12% off. I am gonna purchase 2 of the $30 off coupons and they said as long as I bring the coupons in within 14 days of purchase they will take the additional $60 off... So far so good. It looks pretty good on the exterior.. how do you calibrate the TV though? FYI all.. return policy is 14 days. THanks OP!!!

this is a great tv considering it includes both NTSC/ATSC and QAM tuners. I'm surprised a tv of this price even comes with 2 HDMI connections. should be a great deal if you can combine the 50 off 500, 12%, and some ink coupons
would anyone mind posting up some pics of the tv and their setup. id like to know how the lcd looks like.

Do you mean you plugged the cable off the wall or did you run through the cable box? I did autoscan( my TV cable run through satellite box) and it didn't pick any channels? Am I doing something wrong?
