Update for folks in the Northeast: These are on order at the *warehouse* in NJ from which distribution takes place and there is currently no in-store date at the Waltham, MA store. The guesstimate from the store was that it should arrive in late August.

I have very good result from my Rayovac Hybrid. They do hold their charge and the capacity closely matchs the rating. I don't own Sanyo Eneloops so I don't have comparison. Test result from other sites shows that Rayovac Hybrid is as good as Eneloops.

I have stocked enough Hybrid, so I will pass. Otherwise this is an ok deal if you don't plan to use the charger.

If any of you already have a charger (like the BC-900) and just need the eneloops the cheapest I've found was at www.batterybob.com . He only sells in 2 packs, but buy two and you have 4 AA for 10.28 shipped or 4 AAA for 8.38 shipped. Tax only in Florida.

In the end the price will be cheaper if you need the charger, but if you just need only AA's because none of your gadgets use AAA then this will be better for you.

Can't find them anywhere at my local Costco and I have been looking for months!

There's "HR" on the battery label at the end of a model number or whatever. I'll take a picture when I get home - I read about that "HR" stamp = Sanyos as well.

EDIT: Someone else comparing Sanyo / Kodak / Rayovac low-discharge batteries - link

Not in stock yet at Wayne, NJ store. I was told that the item 183245 is listed as a "new item", but there was no stock and no ETA.

Yes if you want to kill them faster. Do yourself a favor annd get a charger like the Maha c9000 or the Lacross 900. If you don't want to spend $40-$60 on those, then find a charger that will charge in 2-3 hours. Batteries this size and capacity aren't designed to be recharged fully in 15 mins. Either you overheat them to get them fully charged, or you aren't fully charging them.

For instance...the AA Eneloop is rated conservatively at 2000 mah (or 2ah). Fully discharged to fully charged at 100% effeciency (which isn't possible) in 15 mins would take EIGHT amps (8 * 1/4 hour = 2ah). Good luck pushing 8 amps into these for 15 mins straight and not shortening battery life. And, remember...that's at an unattainable 100% effeciency on an underrated battery.

Very good post. Anyone using a 15 min charger should listen to JameyF. Modern sub-c size NiMH cells don't even like 8amp charge rates. The most I will charge AA's is 1 amp.

Saw them in Willowbrook (Houston) store yesterday. May be there are available in all stores now.

Picked up a set from Costco Aloha Oregon tonight for 26 and change. It comes in a nice plastic blue case that holds the charger, batteries, and C/D adapters. They were at the endcap near the tools section.

Found a ton of these at the Costco in Sandy, Utah. I have an area I could use a charger for, so this deal works out well for me. Most of my eneloops charge in the Maha C9000 at about 1200mA. Last I heard, Maha was recommending at least .5C charge rates to be sure to get end-of-charge signals properly, so I bump a notch or two above .5C (1000mA on these, but they are underrated so I give the charger a little more to work with). I think Maha was being cautious though, I tried a 2500mAH cell on 1000mA and it worked fine. I just watched it carefully to make sure it didn't go too long. I usually don't want to keep an eye on the charger though.

I use AA and AAA for various things so the mix is nice also. I've just about cycled all my old cells out of normal use now. Most of them are 3+ years old, so it's time anyway. And I can charge these and let them sit for a year and still be able to get useful life out of them. My other cells just can't do that. They are flat dead in about 2 months. Price was the $26 + change quoted all over the place.

Great deal for me, thanks OP!

Thanks gora - picked up a pack for the $26.49, about $28 after taxes.

This is a rockin' deal - 4 AAs with a charger is $19.98 at Wal-Mart. You don't have to be a math major to figure out getting 8 AAs, 4 AAAs, and a charger is a better deal...

True if one doesn't own a charger, but many do so a charger would be a waste to them.

Even if you own a charger this is a good deal. 8 Eneloop AA's are normally 19.99, 4 AAA's are about $12, plus you get battery adapters. The charger is just icing..
