I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that I can charge "non-eneloop" NiMH batteries in the eneloop charger, too? I've got about 30 Powatech AA NiMH , too. |

elwood2 said:How long does it take to fully recharge these batteries? 7 hours, like the original NiMH before they came out w/ the 15 minute chargers w/ the cooling fans. Using these batteries in my external flash and my Wiimotes, since normal NiMH are already dead again by the time I go to use them. Awesome batteries. Worth the minimal cost difference. Just bought an additional 8-pack from Amazon, wish I had seen this post. doh! |

MyPresident said:is it ok to use these with the duracell 15 min charger? Unlike what the previous person posted, Sanyo and other battery experts strongly urge you to NOT charge these in the quick chargers (less than 1 hour). The amount of current & heat generated by these chargers is many times that of the slower chargers, even with the cooling fans, and you are going to cause one or all of these problems:
a) insufficient battery charge b) shortened battery life c) permanently damaged battery d) worst-case scenario: battery leak/explosion Read the leaflet that comes w/ the batteries. Don't be dumb. You CAN however charge them safely in any charger that charges in 1-5 hours, with the exception of the slow chargers, where you leave the batteries in the charger until they are ready to use (which is pointless with these batteries anyway). Bottom-line: It's not worth the risk. Just charge a set of them and toss them in a drawer -- they will be ready to use whenever you end up needing them. They DO keep their charge like they claim.
When I bought my first 4-pack and charger, I put them in my external flash right out of the package w/o charging them, took about 100 pictures, and then put them in my camera bag. I put them back in my flash about a six weeks later without recharging them, and took about 100 pictures. Still had plenty of their charge. I was sold. |

takes about 4-5 hours I have one of those crappy Samsung cameras that ravage thru AA batteries. I was going to smash it to the ground soon after I bought it but eneloops saved their digital souls. Now I want to smash it coz its a crappy camera (only thing nice was the video zoom) ok, coming back to the point, i dont buy ni-mh's anymore. spend a few more and buy these...they last longer specially when u need batts urgently and yr ni-mh's have all but died. Thanks OP..been waiting forever for a good deal on eneloops |

For my Massachusetts friends: - Waltham still has them on order, no delivery date - Dedham has them in stock but will not put them on the floor until 60+ of the remaining Energizer rechargeables are sold. Per the stock supervisor, they're not moving fast. - Everett has them in stock and ready to go, just over 100 remain. Wish I had called around before trekking to all three stores! Note to those who check stock with the store -- if another location shows a nice even number (240 in this case) make sure that the item is not listed as "Inactive" or is otherwise not linked to another product that needs to be cleared out. The Waltham store sent me to Dedham without doing a closer check and when I got to Dedham, it took the supervisor 30 seconds to verify that it was linked to the Energizers and was not on the floor. This may not be common knowledge for the rest of the staff, as the customer service person in Waltham and one of the floor staff members who I started with in Dedham both saw the in-stock number + aisle assignment and assumed that meant it was on the floor and ready for sale. I started my trek at 3 PM, so needless to say I had a nice helping of Boston traffic over which to contemplate the situation. (And for a store buried down a lot of random streets and further behind a Target and with tiny signs advertising its presence, the Everett store has very poor phone directions! "Take 99 to 16 and poof you're there" my foot!) |

The box was translucent blue with cardboard packaging covering most of the area. That and I just assumed nothing was missing. Next time I'll check items like this before leaving the store. Made the exchange without any hassle. Go Costco! |

It is true that these do have a longer shelf life before draining flat vs others, but the biggest downside for me is the long charge times. No way to quickly top up if i need to go on a trip and they've been sitting around a bit. You can charge under fifteen minutes safely- rayovac has the technology in their fifteen min batteries and chargers. A pressure cutoff that noone else uses that allows for safe fast charging. See their patent and tech papers on the ic3 charging technology. And various tech books on battery rapid charging. |
