You can bring small back packs, camera bags, and purses. Large bags are not allowed. I had a shoulder bag with a few sandwiches and sodas and they were not a problem. You do not have to worry about bringing a small bag with you. DSLR's are also allowed as tons of people have them.

Went to my first US Open, Mens Quarter Final match Yesterday. I enjoyed a lot watching this match and also the exhibition match by Navaratilova and Novotna.

FYI, for anyone who has been ordering through Ticketmaster, you may want to pay special attention to your credit card statement. I ordered tickets to the Open this summer, and I must have clicked on some link for a rebate (never entered any information and closed the window right after reading more), but I had two $9 charges on my statement from something called Entertainment Rewards. A search in Google tells the story.
