The famous Westy LVM-37W3 monitor is now available for $659 (plus shipping) on eCost. It's recertified with a 90 day warranty. You can either get the visa signature extended warranty (around $100 for 5 years) or a Mack extended warranty (around $110 for 3 years in home) as far I can tell. I am not 100% certain on the eligibility although both the visa folks and the Mack dealer said I could get the warranty as long as there is some manufacturer warranty on it (irrespective of whether it is a recertified model). So YMMV on that.
Ecost Link

Newegg has the 37W3SE model for $999 (plus $60 shipping). This one is new retail. You can double the warranty by buying with an appropriate credit card (this doesnt work on the eCost model as it is recert - that one is clear from the credit card terms)
Newegg Link

The only other place I saw it is at Crutchfield for a lot more.

I missed out on the costco deal and have been waiting for something decent to turn up. I decided to buy it from eCost with a visa signature card. Haven't decided yet whether to get the extended warranty - have 30 days to decide. Total shipped came to about $720. I figured even if I bought an extended warranty it would be less than $850. From Newegg it would be 1050 with 2 year of warranty protection. I know Newegg is more reputed but I decided to take the chance with eCost and see how it goes. When I called eCost yesterday they said they had 90 units.

There is a magnavox 37 incher at samsclub - but its very new and no one knows how it performs (or if it works with a PC).

Update:
I missed out on this part but hopefully you won't. You can order it via shopdotcom here and get 10% off using coupon code GET10BACK. Some have reported that they still got charged full price so YMMV. If all those who saved 10% could contribute a $1 each to the "remorse" fund then I should be able to get back the 10% i missed out on *jk*

From elsewhere:
LVM-37w1 — 1080p, 12ms response time, gray bezel, NTSC tuner (no HDTV tuner)
LVM-37w2 — 720p, 8ms response time, black-gray bezel, NTSC+HDTV tuners
LVM-37w3 — 1080p, 8ms response time, black-gray bezel, 1000:1 contrast, 2 DVI, no tuner
LVM-37w3se — 1080p, 8ms response time, slightly higher contrast (1200:1), only 1 DVI (vs 2 on w3) black-gray bezel, no tuner

do the 37" have the genesis (faroudja dcdi)? i know the 42 inch one i got does.

Thx OP. I already have the (utterly gorgeous) LVM37W3 , but I'm going to inform one of my friends who's also interested in getting one.

I got in on the last deal through eCost for this TV, and I had a good experience with both the TV and the seller. I know the ratings for eCost are less than perfect, but I ordered the TV on a Thursday with normal shipping, and DHL dropped it off Saturday morning.

FWIW, I recently bought a refurb Ilo LCD HDTV from eCost, delivered within 2 days, no problems.

You can sometimes get additional discounts on eCost purchases by going through Shop.com to get to eCost, and using a Shop.com coupon code. I saved $30 off my TV that way.

Here is the samsclub.com link for that Magnavox 37" I've been interested in getting it too since our Sam's doesn't carry Westinghouse TVs

What was the condition of the TV? Does it come with a warranty card - if it does, is it from Westinghouse (the warranty)? Have you had any trouble with the TV?

Green from me. Signing up for Shop.com's emailer and using their checkout through eCost got me a 10% off coupon, which took the total including shipping down to $654.20. I live in Oregon so there's no sales tax for me.

Ugh. Fatwallet is going to bankrupt me some day.

Im in. I was very tempted with the Costco deal a month or two ago and once I saw this with no tax and the 10% off 'GET10BACK' code I jumped. Hopefully it will have no dead pixels for a computer monitor, if it does ill just use it for the bedroom TV.

I have had good success with eCost on the 3-4 orders I have placed through Shop.com. Good luck guys and thanks OP!

I have two Westinghouse 32" LCD's & love them. This is a great deal!

This deal is very tempting, I have been looking around for a deal for this westy preferably the one Newegg has, but just couldn't find one. Anyone knows if there is another HD TV out there that supports full 1080P when hook up to a DVI from a PC? I can't seem to find one.

After letting the Costco deal slide ---just couldn't handle the $100 extra in shipping and taxes--- bit on this one for around $650 shipped AC via Shop.com. And the free Harry Potter book was just gravy. Here's hoping that my crisis-free streak continues at eCost.

hmmmm...the 37w3 says that it has N/A/and Qam tuners on the website....anyone confirm?? thx

*********
Looks like no tuners

Signed up with Shop.com, but didn't get a coupon. Only coupon I see online by searching is GET10BACK, but it says it is only valid through Shop.com.

Any help here?

For me, I didnt find the coupon until after signing up for their newsletter through the little banner that appeared on their site every so often advertising 10% off. I'd guess you have to sign up through the banner prior to it letting you use the code? That is the code I used though.

That does seem like a very good deal on the Westy. I wish I knew whether a W4 was in the works. There are so few things to change. Go to at least 1600:1 Contrast, 4ms or so Response Time, and A THINNER BEZEL. I think that could make the W4.

As for that Magnavox at Sams. I'm sure everyone knows that is a Philips HDTV, as Magnavox doesn't make their own. As it's got a tuner built in, that would make it a pretty good deal if you were buying one or the other at Sams. Assuming it stacks up in PQ with the Westy

Can someone explain in more detail how to get the 10% off coupon via Shop.com?

I've been looking for this Westy too, sounds like a great deal, although I'm hesitant to deal with eCost.com, I thought that people here had issues with them. No?

Can anyone confirm that these are NOT the "se" model? I did some reading and it appears that the "SE" model has issues with displaying BIOS text modes properly, so I would rather avoid that one.

Stupid fatwallet.. i didn't even need a tv but couldn't resist this price: $654.20 shipped after 10% coupon

For those that asked:
Go to Shop.com website to sign up for the mailers. You will be emailed the code (it wouldn't work for me without signing up first)
Find the westinghouse through Shop.com (the one sold by eCost of course)
Add it to your Shop.com cart and apply the 10% off coupon

For some reason i couldn't get the FatWallet CashBack to work (the 10% off coupon wouldn't work)

Now i have to decide what i'll do with the TV

The code GET10BACK worked for me, without signing up for any email. However, it only worked if entering the site via the basic Shop.com web address---any attempt to get there via a FatWallet or ebates link prevented the coupon from working.

Does this work ok with the PS3 Blu-Ray and HD-DVD at 1080p?

There is no tuner built in despite what it says, should not be a deal breaker though. Looks SO much better with computers than 720P models and the DVI is a plus, many newer TVs are going with more HDMI and no DVI.

ash =o)

This is a great deal on a product that, in my opinion, all computer enthusiasts should splurge on. I picked up a 37" Full-HD monitor a couple months ago, and it is just fantastic.

Desktop use (web, Excel, Photoshop) is incredible. So productive, so enjoyable.
Games.... oh yeah! (even though I don't have the horsepower to play most in 1920x1080)
AV use (TV bittorrents, movies) is so impressive. My wife and I watch more TV on the computer than we do on the TV.

And 1080P movies and trailers just blow people away.

Really, splurge on this. Best computing purchase I've ever made.

I've just ordered this Westinghouse. I've had a Dell 3007 30 inch LCD for the past year or so.

Reasons why i think i might get rid of the 30 inch in favor of the westinghouse:
-fonts are really small with the 2560x1600 resolution (yes i know i can increase them but still).
-only one dual-link input which not all things can drive at full resolution (i.e. my macbook, the mac mini, pc motherboard graphics)

My concerns: 37 inches is huge! not sure about the quality/longevity of this lcd.

Anyone with any experience with both the Dell 30 inch and this Westinghouse?

Hopefully eCost will come through and the LCD will last for a while. Are people going for any extended warranty?

I am the OP on this deal - and as it happens I missed out on using the Shop.com method to get the 10% off I hope more people can take advantage of it. It's a pretty substantial discount.

Does anyone know if it might be possible to get eCost to match the Shop.com offer retroactively?

Couldn't hurt to ask, but my bet is "no go." It's Shop.com's promo, not eCost's , so eCost will have little incentive to "match" it.

I sypathize. It's a cruel irony to be the OP on a hot deal, and then somehow have the deal work out a lot better for eveyone else. I've posted one or two deals that produced a stampede of orders, the item sold out, then I got an out-of-stock cancellation email while others who ordered after me got their item delivered. At least you'll get the monitor and (presumably) will be very happy with its quality, and knowing that you paid about $200 less than the new one that Costco.com offered.

for ~650 after coupon, this is an excellent deal, even for a refurbished one. OP, you should update the price AC so that this thread will get more attention!

yes it does. Works great.

Consider getting the Mack extended warranty. Linky

Or CPS Warranty: Link to Limited Goods that sells CPS Warranty

Link to CPS Central

!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is so lame. I ordered the set from eCost before finding out about the shop 10%, eCost will not allow me to price match, cancel the order, or return the item. Looks like I got the stick and over-paid $67 Furthermore I don't believe they even have their customer service based in the US if you catch my drift...

I hadn't heard of these Mack warranties until this thread. It would be valuable to hear from anyone has firsthand experience actually getting service under one of these warranties. I saw one lonely (and withering) review of a Mack TV warranty online, basically saying that it forces you to jump through a lot of hoops---first taking the set to a service center just to get an estimate, sending the estimate to Mack, etc. That's not my idea of "warranty." Can anyone comment.

I'm sorry, but I can't seem to pull this item up. All I am seeing that is close, a W2 is from the dreaded Tiger Direct.
What's up? Are they out of the eCost ones?
Thanks,
Lyndon

Edit: I found it, but even though I cleared my history/cache from entering Shop.com from ebates, and joining, it still says I can't apply the coupon code. Ideas?

Create a new account at shop, use a different email id.

I'll have to wait on a deal like this with a turner.

Create a new account at shop, use a different email id.

You will not be able to combine the coupon AND Cash Back from eBates, FatCash, etc. Shop.com's system can tell where you linked from---if it's from eBates or some other affiliate, their checkout system will consistently reject your coupon. You will only be able to apply the coupon if you go to Shop.com via the basic "www.Shop.com" URL, typed into your browser by hand, as your point of entry.

AMEX does not extend the warranty of refurbished goods. Some Visa cards do. I suggest buying with that.
