What I noticed about panasonic was that it had a yellow tint its much brighter than other TV's.

not to thread crap or anything. But TechShopper...You are 100% right. The Samsung next to the Panny plaz made it look less impressive. The point is, I guess, the price on this plasma is unbeatable. I want that samsung so bad

You are correct . . . these two offers are mutually exclusive, i.e., it's an either/or deal. This was confirmed in a call with a Sears.com phone rep yesterday. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the rep indicated that this information came from his supervisor. He further explained that the $1,049.99 on-line price earlier in the week, with the 15% new customer discount and the $150 Ultimate Football Rebate was a mistake; that's why the price went up to $1,299.99 yesteday. He also said (per their website disclaimer) that they're not held responsible for errors . . . therefore, they don't have to honor mistakes if discovered and fixed. So, the bottom line is that there was a 2-day window that closed on Tuesday night.

very good info.

the only thing that can make this deal sweeter is a hardcopy Sears in store coupon, like a 10% or something.
i'm sure that such a coupon could be combined with the ultimate football promotion.
any such coupons floating around?

Here's what I did today... I called the local Sears and told him about the 15% off... I told him it was for online purchases and asked him if he would honor it it the store... I told him that I didn't get my coupon yet and showed him the coupon online... He said he would be happy to honor the 15% whenever I got it and gave me a written slipped signed by his manager to guarantee the xtra 15%... I got the immediate $150 off and also purchased a PS3 with the Panasonic...

Be nice to your local sales rep... they'll give you whatever you want... btw... Sears was jumping today!!!

Yeah I had the same problem a few days ago, had the Panasonic in my cart... but then I remembered seeing the Samsung in the store and said wow, turned out the 42" Samsung was giving -$150 off (looked like the Sears card discount) but I didn't use a Sears card and it still gave me it so who knows, then tacked on the 5% FC and called in for the 15% off. I looked today and it didn't seem like it was still giving it anymore but you might want to keep checking.

The 42" & 50" 75u's are back on sale at the B&M Fry's. Here in San Diego, they are going for 1099 & 1499 respectively.

Sears can PM that without a problem if you live near a Frys.

50" 75u OOS @ frys.com

FYI - Additional 5% on Sunday from 6PM to 10PM on all TVs $999 and up for friends and family.

So I did pricematch the 50'' 75U to Sears today

$1299- $40(pricematch dif)+ taxes =$1362 out of the door @least i saved $175 shipping from frys

the sales person and his manager were even willing to gimme $250 off (football package discount) but every time they were scanning the coupon (ya there is a coupon for the football package) their system wouldn't take it because of the pricematch They did try for 45 min voiding the sale and restarting all over several times

I'll just go on sunday and try for 5% off

Will the 10% FF stack with the 15% off email coupon?
Anyone have an idea of what the final price will be like for the TV?

They would stack, but the 15% email coupon ends today 8/18 and this sale is 8/19. I'm thinking I'll just buy tonight and hope to get an additional 5% by requesting it tomorrow. However, I could see them say that because I purchased it with the 15% off coupon that I can not get the additional 5%. The other option is to hope that the 15% coupon really does not expire and try stacking them tomorrow online.

15% won't expire on 8/18 but they'll jack up the prices to make up for the 5% discount
my Sears already posted some new prices that were suppose to be out tommorow As far as i've seen they increased the price by $100 on a TV worth $2k or less (which is exactly the 5% discount)

For ex 50'' 75U was $1799 in the store but it rang @ $1699

I too was looking at the Samsung plasma because it had a 15k contrast ratio. However, the folks at avsforum reported two issues that really irked me:

1) Some of the stands tilted one side or another.
2) When using an hdmi connection with the dvd player, the audio would disconnect approx. 2 hours into the video.

Some folks were successful with problem #2 with a firmware update, some were not.

The 42PX77U is coming up for $968.91 Plus Tax (I'll pick it up) Minus Fat cash (if that goes through)

Pull the trigger?

Danny

Honestly this plasma has been hovering around $1,000 for the past year so I don't really consider it a hot deal. Warm at best. I can't wait for Black Friday, I bet we'll see name brand 42 inch plasmas for around $800.

alert mods

danlieb,

How are you getting a price of $968.91 for the TH-42PX77U model? I am looking at that one since it has the anti-glare coating but the website lists it as $1199.88.

I missed the boat on the 15% off coupon but sith $150.00 off using the Sears card deal, it's still a good price for a top line 42" plasma.

jschuman said:Sears now has the TH-42PX75U for $1050 and the TH-42PX77U for $1150, so the final cost with 15% coupon and Cash Back would be $850 and $930. Now we are talking.

Where do you see the 75U for $1050, I get $1139?
Thank you -
Daniel

Friends and family brings the price to $1139.89 - minus my 15% off.
SHOULD I BUY IT?
