DO NOT CALL LOCAL STORES TO CHECK INVENTORY! Employees have been known to tell you they have none and set aside the good deals for themselves!
Call Staples catalog at 800-333-3333 or 800-3-STAPLE. The CSRs can tell you what inventory shows for your local store(s) - without alerting the local store's staff about the deal. (Hit 3, and then if you hear another recording hit 2 - sometimes 3 gets you a rep right away, other times you must hit 2 in addition).
Just replace the "<SKU>" with the SKU of the item. Don't link it (FW->Staples link are not working) it has to be copy/pasted in to the address bar. Many users have trouble with these links, so please read below... If it does not work the First time, and you fet the Staples home page, It will work the 2nd time.
Stock Check Instructions:
These instructions should allow you to use the check stock links throughout FW, and in this thread in particular.
Open a new browser window, go to Staples.com.
Make sure you are logged in. If not, log in.
Search for Item #513099.
Click on the "Check in Store Availability" link.
Enter any zip code (or city, state combination).
Return to the FW thread, copy the check stock URL.
Return to the Staples site, paste the URL.
Find the bargains.
Rush to store to beat other FWers.
Staples Coupon Policy Staples retail stores accept mailed or circular/newspaper coupons from other competing office supply and electronics retailers. Known retailers are: Office Depot, OfficeMax, Circuit City, Best Buy, Microcenter and Fry's among others.
Acceptance is by manager discretion according to how "local" the competitor store is (another state may not be accepted), but according to corporate the policy is firm. If you have a valid coupon from a competitor for an item they stock, it should be accepted under their price match policy. If you encounter a clerk who doesn't know of the policy, take the issue to the manager, and if even she/he doesn't know (happens) feel free to note his/her name and the store number (usually at the top of a receipt). Then call the Staples "Office Of The President" toll free number. Ask them if the policy is in effect nationwide, and when they say yes (current as of this post), give them that name and number, and inform them of what occurred and the names of those involved. Say you'd still like to use it now, and they may keep you on the line while they reprimand them, and tell you to go back in and make your purchase.

The Small Stacking Bin is a scaled-down version of the "8300 Blue Translucent Bin (SKU 663830)" mentioned earlier, which is also $0.50/ea at current stage.

I work at Staples and was doing tags today and saw a 60GB WD passport External hardrive dont remember the sku for $35.50 if you use 3 ink coupons would be a nice deal.

60GB 2.5" external drives seem to have been cleared out of stores for awhile now. Everything starts at 80GB, unless you get lucky and find something that rolled under a table.

I cannot find any in my local stores. Is there a way to buy at the in-store kiosk and pay up front yet have the csr type in the sku to get the instore clearance price instead of the web price? I doubt it, but I just thought I'd ask.
