I had the same problem. Here's what I did:

Go into the "Your Account" page.

Under the "Your Yahoo! Account" settings area, click "Use a different Yahoo! ID for this Flickr account"

Sign in with your SBC username when prompted.

When I logged back in, I was a pro user. Good luck!

B1tchin!!!! GOt it by following those instructions:

"You have a Pro account, at no cost as long as you keep your AT&T Yahoo! service."

The only thing that I'd ad is that once you click "Use a different Yahoo! ID for this Flickr account" you need to choose this option:

To transfer your ihatethetv Flickr account to a different Yahoo! ID, sign in with that Yahoo! ID now:

* Sign in with an existing Yahoo! ID

I was a little confused by this since I don't consider my att email address to be a yahoo ID....but I did it and it worked. Thanks man.

Once again, FW forums is more useful than the horses mouth (flickr forums)!

PLEASE NOTE: YOU CANNOT REVERT BACK TO THE REGULAR YAHOO ID ONCE THE TRANSFER IS DONE.

It worked for me. Thanks OP. Here is what I did

1. Logged to Flickr with my normal / standard yahoo id.
2. Once you login, Click on "Your Account" under the "You" dropdown.
3. If it doesn't say "You have a Pro account, at no cost as long as you keep your AT&T Yahoo! service" , that means you have the free standard service.
4. Click on "Use a different Yahoo ID for this Flickr account" towards the bottom of the page in "Your Yahoo! account" section.
5. The next page you will be asked to click on a link to sign in with Yahoo Broadband partner's id, in my case it was Yahoo AT&T (formerly SBC account). My id ended with @sbcglobal.net.
6. You will get a congratulations page after the transfer is done.
7. You relogin with the new id, that is, broadband partner's id and repeat Step 2.
8. You should now see "You have a Pro account, at no cost as long as you keep your AT&T Yahoo! service"

alert mods

For people who do not have Yahoo Broadband partner's email-id, you could get one if you know someone who has an SBC/AT&T account or rather someone who has DSL with Yahoo AT&T. They can create upto 10 sub accounts which have email ids ending with @sbcglobal.net and this you can use to create a free Pro account on Flickr.

Please note sub account holders have no access to any billing information of the primary account holder. The only risk I see is, if the primary account holder deletes/suspends the subaccount, I am not sure if you will be able to login to Flickr.

Here is how to create a sub account. This could only be done by the primary account holder.
1 .Go to http://dsl.sbc.yahoo.com/ and login
2. Click on "Member Center" tab.
3. Click on "Manage Sub Accounts" You will be prompted for password again.
4. Create a new Subaccount (email id) for you family or friend.
5. Go to flickr.com and sign in using the newly created subaccount email id.
6. You are a Pro user now.

This deal should always work. I work for Yahoo! and actually deal with all of our DSL partner branded technical stuff. We dropped photo's and now flickr is our main source for photo's so if you have ATT or Verizon service you should be getting a pro account for free while you have internet service. Flickr pro is just a part of the services we offer to Verizon and AT&T customers.

Point blank Yahoo! hooks it up

Thanks!

Followed the steps graciously posted by Hottie, used my old ***@sbcglobal.net info, worked like a charm!

Now to upload 20 gigs worth of pics!

alert mods

Just wondering before I try this myself, what happens if you cancel your AT&T service in the future? Is there a way to convert the account back to a free one or is the only option at that point to pay to keep the pro account?

At first it was not allowed but a ton of flickr users complained (using this exact situation for an example) and the flickr crew listened and made it possible to unmerge the accounts. I have not tried it, but I have read on the flickr forums and people say it is now possible.

does this still work?

I agreed, Step 5 is not there................

alert mods

I recently added a mailbox to my att/SBC account - then opened a new flickr account - went to upgrade to pro, but got the following message (note that my other two flickr accounts, both att/SBC, are still showing pro status):
=======================

Plaese be informed that starting April 1, 2008 AT&T has reworked their
broadband packages. As a result, Flickr pro is no longer offered with
AT&T broadband service. AT&T users that signed up after this will have a
standard Flickr account.

If you would like to upgrade to Flickr pro you can do so here:

http://flickr.com/upgrade

And you would like more information on what AT&T offers with their
broadband
service please visit

http://att.com/internet

to see what services are available in your region.

If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to
contact us again.

alert mods

Yup, I got the same thing. Even if you've had SBC prior to 4/1, if you add a new mailbox it will not work. They'll only honor it for the original email box.

alert mods

This just worked for me. I used the primary DSL account to merge!
