Email went out that if you have a photos account through Verizon Yahoo (or AT&T Yahoo/SBC Global Yahoo) they are transferring all accounts to a FlickR Pro account (reg $24.95 a yr). Simply log into your verizon yahoo (or ATT/SBC Yahoo) photos account and go to flickR and re-enter your password to create an account.

If you have an account with FlickR already, they will merge the two accounts for you free of charge to consolidate your uploaded pics onto FlickR.

I got an offer for my free Yahoo accountfor free FlickR pro for 90 days. After that it reverts to a basic account.

I haven't received anything for my AT&T/Yahoo account yet.

George, can you clarify. If you simply have a Yahoo account the offer is different.

If you have the blended VerizonYahoo it's upgraded to Pro as long as you keep the service.

Try logging into your AT&T/Yahoo photos and see if theres info there about the FlickR Pro offer.

I am all confused now. This would be great as I was just considering signing up for the FlikR Pro but....

I have NOT received any notifications in my ATT/SBC Global email account and there is nothing in the member's page either. I see that you say "go to flickR and re-enter your password to create an account"

but you also say:
If you have an account with FlickR already, they will merge the two accounts for you free of charge to consolidate your uploaded pics onto FlickR.

How??? What do I need to do in this case??? The email addy that I have registered with FlikR is not my SBC addy. Do I just add it? Change it to that? What?

Since I have not received the email you mention, I have no idea.

Thanks!

Thx OP just logged into my Flickr account and saw a banner at the top that says I have a pro account for as long as I keep my dsl service!

THANKS TO NEMONEIL at SD for this: This is his info on the SBC/AT&T Yahoo info:

I just got an e-mail from AT&T Yahoo! saying that they're shutting down their photo service to support Flickr full-time. As a consequence of this lost service to AT&T subscribers, they are giving away free "Flickr Pro" memberships worth $24.95/year.

To get it, just go to www.flickr.com and sign up for a new account with an AT&T e-mail address (e.g. *@sbcglobal.net for me). Current members have to "merge their account" by changing the e-mail address to an AT&T one and you should get Pro access for free!

I had already migrated my photos to Shutterfly, but when I logged on to Flickr, I saw that I have Pro service. I don't ever recall signing up on Flickr, and I don't have any photos stored there, but free is good. I'll have to think more about this service.

MISTERCHEAP,

thanks for the info. I'll try this. If it works, you just saved me $25. Thanks!

Since Yahoo Photos was going away, I was expecting this to happen eventually, so I had created a Flickr account with my sbcglobal email address. Sure enough, when I checked that account just now, I saw "You have a Pro account, at no cost as long as you keep your AT&T Yahoo! service."

Green for OP. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks, just signed up and look like I got PRO account but I saw a moo ad click on it and it said I need a PRO account?-to get 10 free moo!

What you get with FlickR Pro Details

For those that don't know, FlickR Pro gives you UNLIMITED uploads and UNLIMITED storage! You can literally back up ALL your photo files on their service. Very useful.

Thanks, it works like a charm. There's a notice at the top of the account page that you have a free Pro account as long as you have ATT internet..

Also, if you never use your SBCglobal email address and have forgotten your password, call

877-722-3755

say "tech support" then "reset password" then enter your customer code from your bill (3 digits after phone #). it will reset your PW and tell you what it is. it says you'll need to update your modem settings with the new password at some point. i haven't had to do that yet..

This is great, thanks OP!

Thanks. Uber Green!

Worked for me - and I did not have a yahoo photo or verizon photo account.

I simply had a flickr account that was initially created via my SBC account, and it now shows up as:
You have a Pro account, at no cost as long as you keep your AT&T Yahoo! service.
So, at least in my case, there was nothing "to do" but I'm glad someone pointed out that I have pro access now.

Any3way to get in on this deal without having AT&T or Verizon for an ISP? I use Yahoo Photos!

it works !!
Thanks>!

Is UNLIMITED storage for UNLIMITED period of time, or 1 year?

Didn't see that quote, how do I find out if I am "pro"?

are your photos private? or other people can see them? i know pbase's photos are not safe even when you use a passwd.

On the bottom of their homepage is a "you" menu, with an option being "your account."

When I clicked that, I saw that my account was now pro.

I had originally set up a flickr account with my regular yahoo e-mail account when I was notified of yahoo photos going away. Just updated my flickr account with the SBC/yahoo e-mail address and it updated to pro.

Thanks for the heads up OP!

You can designate your pictures or albums as either public, private for friends only, private for family only, private for both friends and family, or completely private.

Also, the unlimited storage is unlimited as long as you have a pro account. If your pro membership expires though, they don't delete them, you just lose access to them until you restore pro-status to your account.

Also, it should be noted that there is unlimited bandwidth, so they won't kill your account because you linked a picture to a popular forum thread or something. I've had a pro account for two years now and I love it. I've got about 2,000 6 megapixel pictures on there.

For as long as you have your account through Verizon/ATT or SBC, read the thread!

i've had a pro account for 2 years and love it! in addition to a public area, i have a private (viewable by me only) area that i use to backup/archive photos. i have around 11,000 photos (~30 gigs) on there now. unlimited storage and bandwidth really is unlimited!

by the way, for those (like me) that had paid for a pro account before the free yahoo/SBC/etc offer took effect: your paid pro account is basically put on hold for as long as you keep dsl. if you disconnect your dsl your paid account will kick in again for the remainder of your paid term.

more info on this at the flickr forums: http://www.flickr.com/help/forum/44950/

Thanks a bunch!! I was actually considering purchasing a Pro account any day now. This was perfect timing! Was able to sign up for a free Pro account with my AT&T Yahoo! email and then linked my existing Flickr account to it.

It worked. Got the pro for free now, thanks!

SWEET, thanks OP for the notice! I didn't even get an email from AT&T about this. This is a flaming hot deal for ATT internet subscribers. I've been switching back and forth between Cable and DSL. This just about seals the deal for me to stay with ATT DSL. AT&T 3Mbps customers also get free wifi with their accounts as well. Man, you've got to love competition =P. If you don't have ATT DSL, now's the time to sign up!

BTW, if you change your AT&T accout/email/flickr password, you will have to change the password on your modem or else you will loose connectivity. Just an FYI, so be careful.

you mean update the one in "Your contact email"??

I try but nothing happened@@

Same here. I just edited a profile to switch to the sbcglobal.net address and it's still a free account.

Anyone got this to work recently? I just tried changing my account to use my SBC email then set it to primary, still free =(.

-glen

When I get to the Yahoo! registration page, do I enter the Verizon/AT&T/SBC for the "Alternate Email"?

Where do I enter it?

Edit: I think I may have to have a Yahoo/AT&T/SBC branded account in order to apply for this deal.
I have Verizon DSL service but it doesn't come branded with Yahoo! Online Experience unless I pay more.

Branded Yahoo! Services:
Verizon: http://verizon.yahoo.com/
SBC: http://sbc.yahoo.com/
AT&T: http://att.yahoo.com/

AT&T recently purchased BellSouth here in the southeast. I wonder if they will do the same for BellSouth DSL customers. *crossing fingers*

For those who don't have DSL and move their photos from Yahoo and have a Flickr Pro account (we've had one for 3 years), then you're promised an extra three months of free pro account goodness.

I'll believe it when I see it - there was nothing in my Flickr account info in the last five minutes to indicate my pro account would be good until October 2008 instead of July 2008.

Thanks OP. I logged into my FIOS account and checked my Flickr settings and I am registered as a Pro User.

Just checked, still "You have a free Flickr account, which you can upgrade to a Pro account if you wish."

Will update if anything changes. I have att and an sbcglobal email address.

Did you sign in using your ATT/SBCGlobal address or another one? Will only work to upgrade to PRO if it's directly linked to one of these e-mail addresses and not a regular Yahoo or Gmail account.

Skipping 20 Messages...

This just worked for me. I used the primary DSL account to merge!
