While out obtaining a Barista Espresso Machine from a Starbucks I saw that they reduced the price of the Waring Pro Blender MBB 518 from $129 to $69. This is supposed to be a nationwide sale. For those of you who are not familiar with this blender, it is one of their professional series blenders. Everyone plays games with the suggested retail, Amazon claims it is $180 and some other stores claim retain is as much as $235; however, the normal deal price for this blender has been $129 from Amazon and everyone else. The stores just say that you are getting a deal. This closeout sale at Starbucks is really a sale as the cheapest I have ever seen them is $111 from a merchant that charges $15 for shipping. If you need a great blander, you may want to check this out while they still have some available.

And if you do pick one of those blenders up, Waring will give you a free 7-piece bartools set until the end of the year. Just send in your proof of purchase. Here's the info on the kitchentools site:

http://www.kitchenkapers.com/waring-bar-tool-set-blender-bonus.html

How cool is that?

Cheers

While it's not a VitaMix, it's a darned nice blender and a very hot price if you can find one.

I had the store where I purchased mine run a search and there are a number of them still available in California.

I 've been using a Waring Pro BB180 3/4 HP Commercial Blender w Pulse for several months. It has the polycarbonate jar which is what they use in bars. It's light and unbreakable. This thing is a monster. It crushes 10 ice cubes in about 5 seconds. There's no way I could go back to a home or professional model after using this.

It "retails" for $225. I got it off eBay for $65 + shipping. Waring just released the 3/4 HP model so they may be htf right now. Hands down it's the best blender I've ever owned.

Back on the espresso front. Pulled my first shot last night. The wife LOVED it. To me it was slightly watery. I pulled it for 22 seconds. Am going down to 20 tonight.

Bzzzt! Wrong...go for 27-30 seconds, and grind even finer.

the reviews on Amazon are mixed, few very good and few very bad ones!!

ChiefBrody, I believe you and I were involved in a deal I posted on Shure earphones several months ago. I was able to score one of the Barista Espresso machines in stainless steel, but have not used it yet. I mentioned that to the manager at the Starbucks where I found the blender and she had one of her employees grind me 1/4 lb of coffee to try out. She was great. I already have a Waring Blender with a Stainless Steel jar that I love. I really get my a$$ whipped whenever I post expensive items like I did when I posted the Dualit Tosters for $99. I thought that I would never hear the end of people complaining about paying $99 for a $229 toaster. Live and learn. Hopefully this $69 deal will be good for some. I purchased a back-up blender at the Starbucks because I have been so pleased with my other one.

Looks like you are continuing to seek the best products at the best prices. Glad to see you are still "on the hunt!"

saw this Oster Pro blender on Amazon and liked the reviews. It probably doesn't compare to the Waring, but I have it on order and got free shipping. I'll let you know how it turns out (I would have preferred the Waring, but I broke my blender and immediately ordered a new one last week....) thanks OP great find!

I hope you have better success with Oster than I have had with their blenders. I have not had this model, but the one's I owned in the past were at the top of their line. I have been much happier with the Waring blender. I can understand why you went with the Oster because the reviews appear to be much more solid. If you want a Waring and can find one, you can refuse the shipment when the Oster arrives. The shipper will return unopened to Amazon and you will receive a full credit and not be out the shipping. Thanks for your positive feedback on the post.

was there a display model that you can ask for additional discounts on?

atsang said: was there a display model that you can ask for additional discounts on?

I purchased mine at the Starbucks in Dana Point, CA. After I spoke with the manager, she decided to purchase her display (last one in the store) model. She said she could get it for an additional 30 per cent off. However, before she decided to purchase it, she mentioned that there would be an additional discount on the display because she did not have a box. It was in perfect shape. She gave me a list of stores in South Orange County, CA that still had between one and three of them in stock. When I got home I called the store at the top of the list that was supposed to have two in stock and was told they have one on display and one in a factory sealed box. I be3lieve the normal discount for a display at Starbucks is an additional 10 percent, but I have heard of discounts up to 20 percent for a display.

Here is a direct link to the free bar tool set Waring gives you when you purchase this blender from "any Waring retailer" before 12/31/07.

I just grabbed one of these at the Nashua NH location... Thanks OP!
I didn't count how many more they had, but I know there was at least one.
I just went to see about that bar tool set, and the dates for the offer that I am reading following the link posted are for the whole year of 2006 (last year), with response to be postmarked before 1/31/07..
Is there something I am missing somewhere?

I just bought one at the starbux by my office (Midtown NYC). I've had a Black & Decker for a little over a year now... it gets the job done, but sometimes struggles when given a big load. We'll see how this one works!

I've never seen blenders for sale in Starbucks by me.. do they normally have it on display or you have to ask to check if they are selling it.

aqan said: I've never seen blenders for sale in Starbucks by me.. do they normally have it on display or you have to ask to check if they are selling it.

I am not sure if all the stores have them, but most of the Starbucks in South Orange County, CA currently have a couple in stock. You can have any Starbucks do a local area search to see what stores currently have stock. The only upc on the boxes I have observed have a Starbucks bar code, but everything on the box, other than the bar code, refers to the Waring company and the blender in the box. They are out there and should not be hard to locate. Good luck.

How does this blender compare to the Kitchenaid 5 speed KSB580?

Here is the link to the current certificate offer: Bartools Certificate

Anyone know what LNT return policy is? I just bought a blender from them about a month ago and would really like to upgrade to the Waring Pro Blender however I don't have the packaging anymore.
Thanks in advance,
m

I picked one up this afternoon in Hingham, MA. I really need to stop shopping at Starbucks now. I bought the Barista espresso machine (and am loving it) and the Barista grinder both on clearance, a couple of travel mugs on clearance to carry our yummy lattes to work, and the espresso tool set. Now to just keep to my vow to make all of my espresso drinks instead of buying them and I should be ahead financially in the near future.

thanks op, just picked this up today. was looking to get this blender for a while, and this deal pushed me over the edge to go out and finally get it.

One more option for you.... it is a different model, but you can get a Waring Pro blender from Linens & Things for 69.99 with a $10 MIR here

Use a 20% off coupon and final cost is $46 + tax after MIR.

If you go with the blender at Linens & Things, you had better be sure of the model. I am sure that it is a much lower end blender than the one that I posted. I have seen Waring "Professional" blenders selling for as little as $39, but they do not have the quality of the MBB 515. As I mentioned in my original post, stores play games with the suggested retail price of blenders and the one I posted is truly a great deal. As a matter of fact, I am going out this morning to purchase another one for one of my daughters.

got the blender and the Barista. Green

Thanx a perfect gift for my hubby.....

Got the blender.. blends pretty well
Thanks OP

THanks OP. I finally took the plunge and purchased a blender. There were three left after I bought one. I passed on the Barista since I don't drink espresso often enough. I couldn't justify the cost of the unit even though it is a good deal! When I do make espresso, I use an old fashioned, on top of the stove, Italian espresso maker. Very basic but very good!

I am looking for a good blender for making my protein/frozen fruit smoothies...and input on how this blender would work for this...my current blender leaves the ice too chunky for my liking.
TIA

I call it "The snow machine". It works great for frozen drinks.

Bought it and used it for smothies. 28 oz cup of ice with a little liquid was snow in 5 seconds.

I saw the Barista and scooped up the display for $80 OTD. Great machine.

Display unit left on Middlesex Tpk Starbucks (by the Trader Joes) in Burlington, MA as of 6:30PM tonight. It has the UPC sticker stuck to the bottom of the blender, but no box, so you should be able to get bartools rebate.

I didn't want the display, however, and was going to leave until they found one boxed unit left in the back. The Lithuanian girl who works there is awesome for checking so thoroughly (I didn't ask her to, she just thought that I really wanted the blender and didn't want me to be disappointed.)

I've owned two of these blenders. First motor lasted about 6 years before dying. It progressively got louder and louder until the gearing for the motor/spindle that drives the blades in the glass jar wouldn't lock up correctly. In the 6 years, it was used daily for the a.m. shake and a ton of summer margaritas. Truelly, you can load this thing to the top w/ crystal ice (the large cubes) and it will break them down in seconds. People are always amazed at that when we are making margs. The fixed blades are nice and clean pretty easy. I've never had a problem with getting them clean, but i rinse it clean as soon as i'm done using it.

That being said, Cooks magazine rated blenders a couple of months or so ago and they didn't give the waring great reviews. I think that's a bunch of crap, because the thing works pretty well for shakes and frozen drinks. My experience with using it for purees is a bit mixed. It just does OK and doesn't do great because it doesn't seem to get purees fine enough.

One last thing, I bought mine at Amazon the 6 years ago for right around $80.

Hey realdealesq, I remember you and the Shure thing. Yeah, I'm locked and loaded. Last night I was finally able to use the Barista w/out referring to the DVD or written instructions. It's a fantastic machine! Now I'm experimenting with grinds, lenght of time for pull, etc. It's gotten better but there's still a little 'watery' taste in the latte's. But after only a week, I'm thrilled to be able to get anything that resembles a good cup.

I think deals like the Shure and Barista, the high end stuff, are the best. Between Fatwallet and Sierra, I'm going broke! There's also this relatively new seller on eflay. He's big w/3 warehouses. One is only 6 miles from me. He gets stuff from BB and other places like that. It's all returns, floor models etc. So far, everything I've bought has been basically new, if not brand new. He says the stuff has been tested and lists the problem. I think he's just listing the BS the customer told the stores. I got a brand new Dyson Animal for $176. It had a little broken plastic piece that was replaced for $12. Even came in the box with manuals, warranty and everything. I actually got a Hoover $179 carpet cleaner for $2. The beauty of it is, I can pick the stuff up and not pay shipping. PM me and I'll give you his ID. (Don't think I can list it here.)

Keep rockin, brother.

Would this be good for smoothies also, or is it mainly a food processor? I haven't had any luck finding the Waring at Starbucks.
