Ultimate version contains: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook with Business Contact Manager, Accounting Express, Publisher, Access, InfoPath, Groove, OneNote
NOTE: Requires a valid e-mail address at a "higher education" institution in the US and 0.5 course hour workload or more. (Hot for those who can't get it from their university bookstore for cheaper.) Also, requires you to download the Office 2007 Ultimate trial software (or order a physical DVD for "a small charge") and then activate with product key that you get from your $60 purchase.
*** If you want to order the DVD, do NOT place your order yet. Their ordering process does not allow you to order the DVD, and there is a possibility that you won't be able to order the DVD if you've already ordered as a software download! ***
REQUIREMENTS: Per Microsoft's detail page you must be able to provide proof of enrollment status (ie, student card) upon request by Microsoft.: "Microsoft or an appointed vendor may contact you to verify that you are a current student. If documentation is not provided indicating that you are a current student, you will be liable to reimburse Microsoft for the full retail cost of the software ($679)"
Also, for those who get this: Do yourself a BIG favor and download all the updates from Microsoft after installing. This resolves many stability and PERFORMANCE issues. (Outlook 2007 is a dog until the patch is installed, but is snappy afterwards...)
Very hot, thanks OP. I was looking at buying the $120 version of Office Student as my wife's college doesn't offer discounted software but now she can save half the price and get Access as well.
Fantastic. Son's off to Chicago next week for school with Office 2002. It'll be great to get this for the price.

I'm happily using Office XP even though I have a copy of Office 2007 Pro handy. Not much difference other than the eye candy stuff like Vista. There's a bit of learning curve to it. Plus, it may not be compatible with older Office versions if you want other people to work on your file created by Office 2007.
Can this software be installed on two PCs used by the same student?

I have my laptop which I take to class and have a desktop in my room I use for everything else. Also, how does this work? When we buy it do they link us to an ISO that we download and burn?

Yeah, you can install office 2007 twice, but no more than that. I own a copy, and as long as you're the same user, you can install it at most on 2 different computers. Just for additional information, this is different than windows, in which you can only install windows on one computer.

What about when you upgrade computers. Does MS allow you to convert the license to your new machine?
I don't know about other universities but university of Minnesota has an agreement with Microsoft that allows each student to purchase Office 2007 and Windows Vista for ~$4 (yes, four dollars). You will have to sign in using your student account (X500). The $4 are for a CD you come to pick up. If you just download it, it's free (or at least was last year).
yes msoffice and openoffice are two different things that do mostly the same thing but at very different prices. if openoffice does what you need to do then you have an opportunity for considerable savings vs. the other one. and openoffice is multi-platform and can be installed on multiple computers without additional cost. if you need the other one than you need the other one and that is a different story.

OpenOffice would work fine for 99% of MSOffice users. But 75% of MSOffice users are more into brand loyalty and common-sense and saving money.

eBay auction says it can be installed on 3 comps too Microsoft usually catches up to those guys and forces feebay to VERO the auction because they are breaking the licensing agreement by not verifying the buyer is a student. I know it happened to me a few months back

Huh? I run Office 2007 on my Fujitsu 1510D with 512mb of memory and a 1.8' 4200 RPM HD (essentially the IPOD video harddrive) and it runs fine!

For right now its a safe bet to have 2003 and 2007 on your computer for now.
If I can get this for my daughter who is in high school and using almost every one of these apps in a technoligy learning class, I would extremely excited!
Thanks OP for the post! simsk

In for one.
I hope there's a way to get the media for it though. I'm thinking about wiping all of Acer's preinstalled apps on my new laptop and installing a fresh copy of Vista. Come to think of it, I need media for Vista...
