I agree completely. Office 2007 has gotten a lot of praise for the new layout. It took me a couple days to get used to it as well, and now I like it better than the old style.

My school charges $80 for the Office 2007 Professional version. They charge us out the wazoo for tuition and now this?! Totally unacceptable.

Do a google search on how to do this, very simple. The first few times I sent homework to professors in the .docx format, they weren't able to open them.

OR, the person receiving the .docx file can install the converter from MS to open the file. Getting the converter is an EXCELLENT thing to do, especially if you plan on sticking with an older version of Office, because sooner or later someone's going to send you a file in the new format, and then you may be scrambling around trying to get it opened. Yeah, but it would REALLY be outrageous if they charged you for food, too, because as we all know, universities get that for free, incur no costs in preparing it or distributing it or anything...

Deal starts at 7pm EST apparently - at least according to my countdown clock.

"Microsoft or an appointed vendor may contact you to verify that you are a current student. If documentation is not provided indicating that you are a current student, you will be liable to reimburse Microsoft for the full retail cost of the software ($679)"

I wonder if they would actually try to verify that you're a current student and charge you $679 if you couldn't prove it.

The fact that you provided a .edu is verification enough for them. The program installs and self registers itself just as if you bought it from the retail shelf.

Unless you're a charity that helps prevent in Africa, Bill won't give you anything for free.

I get them for free anyway. I bet you do too!
