Ok, so I called to cancel my crappy Vonage service today and was surprised by an offer that the CSR recommended I tell my friends about.....so, Fatwallet friends, here you go.
I subscribe to the Unlimited plan and was paying $24.99. He told me he could drop that to $14.99 with two free months of service. I asked how long it was good for and he told me that it would stay at $14.99 for the life of my service with them. In addition, since I complained about the quality of the calls, he sent a free adapter out to replace the one that I've had for the last two years. Not sure if it will help the quality, but at the new price, I'll give it a shot. Once again, he told me to tell any friends that are Vonage customers about this deal so they can take advantage of the promotion as well. Hopefully he's correct about that.

DEC 4th Update: Deal alive and kicking. Just got mine reduced for 12 months. The lady I spoke to talked about the reduced-rate plan as if it was a different plan so don't let that scare you.
Ok, here's the scoop, or at least the scoop as we currently know it: -Must be a current Vonage Unlimited customer (Apparently there have been a few persistent people that have been able to secure this on new accounts now, but YMMV) -Must speak with someone in the Account Management dept. (It's supposed to be extension 553, and they are there Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST at 1-Vonage-HELP (1-866-243-4357) -Tell them you're calling to cancel and they are supposed to be offering this at that point as a retention offer. If they don't, tell them that part of the reason you're cancelling is that you know of some people that are getting the Unlimited plan at $14.99 -CSR tells me that this might roll out in the next few months as the new price for the Unlimited plan, so those that aren't yet a Vonage customer might be able to get in on this down the road -Based on the info. above, there's no need to reference anyone's phone or account number in order to get in on this -This thread is being moderated because I asked people to PM me, rather than ask me to post my phone number here. For the record, part of the reason I switched to Vonage was the whole, "no one has my number" thing, so I don't plan to hand it out....not trying to be a jerk, just like my privacy. -

Are you sure you don't have the 500 out minutes a month plan?
I have been thinking about it for a while - I am not a fan of voip service but I am willing to give it a shot. I pay $31 just for local service with caller ID (including all taxes and surcharges.
On a $14.99 plan, how much should I expect the total (including al fees) will be?...
Nope, I've got the unlimited. I've lived in too many states and gathered up too many friends across this fine nation to get by on 500 minutes. Like I said, I was really surprised by the offer, and I think I forgot to mention that he was even kind enough to credit those two free months at the $24.99/mo that I had been paying. I have no idea if the new router will improve the call quality, but I'd have been a bit nuts to pass up the opportunity to try it out.
Charges Detail:Residential Premium Unlimited Plan for (22/Aug-21/Sep) $24.99 Regulatory Recovery Fee $0.99 Emergency 911 Cost Recovery $0.99 Sales Tax $1.84 Federal Universal Service Fee $1.76 County 911 Fee $0.49 Total Amount $31.06
Here's the account detail as of today: Rate Plan Information: Rate Plan: $14.99 Unlimited Residential Plan-RT0807 Rate Plan Start Date: Sep 18, 2007
I have no idea if they will honor this offer for a new customer. The CSR told me to tell my friends that are current Vonage customers, so it sounds like more of a retention sort of thing, but it's certainly worth a shot if you've considered trying it out.

Haven't ever tried to call Europe, but AFAIK there's only one unlimited residential plan, so I assume that's still included. The CSR specifically said that it was the same plan that I have now, just $10/mo less than I had been paying.
I called for the second time and talked to 2 different reps. One at sales and one at cust serv. The first one did not know anything like that - he contacted the superv. as well. When I got transferred to cs, I was asked for the friend's phone number to verify the deal because they did not have such a thing either.
Its just like the Bells now. Expect to pay ~$20 total. Its 33% tax!
