CC caries the same tv. Whats the chances of getting a pm? Sears also has a 50" 1080p Panny. I'm not sure if its the same model though. |

Maybe BB will start posting their ads here before they send them to the printers. That way, FW can proof it for errors and BB won't have to post corrections in the stores. Just another way we can provide them with the exception service we've come to expect from them (to quote a previous post)... |

Looks like the person who called in got the attention of corporate. Here's an email I received from Best Buy: As a valued Best Buy customer, we want to inform you of an error that will appear in the September 23, 2007 Best BuyTM ad. On the front cover we mistakenly listed the price of the 50" Panasonic Plasma TV (TH_50PZ77U- 8501711) at $1799, before $90 savings. We intended to advertise the 42" Panasonic Plasma TV (TH-42PZ77U-8501757) at $1799, before $90 savings. Best Buy will not be honoring this price on the aforementioned 50" Panasonic Plasma TV. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we will offer a $100 Instant Rebate on all Plasma Televisions from Sunday, September 23, 2007 through Saturday, September 29, 2007. This Instant Rebate will be deducted from the price you see in the store, including our regular sale prices. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you in our store soon. |

Chris Farley could pull it off. In one movie, a hook grabbed his pants. Lame. He was lifted up over a truck. Lame. Then he starts flailing. triple Lame. Then he starts screaming. SOMEBODY HELP ME! This is a screaming hot deal! There's a big thread over in DD where BB sent out the email to everyone stating this was a price mistake and they wouldn't honor it. It's not such a great deal after all IMHO, even with a price mistake. The 75U is virtually the same unit; the only difference is no anti-glare coating, and the speakers are on the bottom (as opposed to on the side with the 77U.) The 75U can be had for $1,400 or so, often less with incentives (there was a deal in the Hot Deals forum just yesterday for the 75U @ Sears for that price.) Speakers moved to side + anti-glare coating = $1,300 more MSRP? Uh, no. Heck it's not even worth $300 more as in this price mistake! |

Yeah, but this is a plasma TV we are talking about here, not one of those cheapo LCD TVs. Plasmas are way better then LCD. That's just a fact. |

Well not that it matters that much since the deal isn't being honored but for your information its 1300 more because it is full 1080P and has a better contrast ratio above all other current Panny full 1080P. (Along with the anti-glare coating and side speakers.)
the 75U is a PX75U and the 77U you are talking about is a PX77U. The PX means its only 720P. The model BestBuy is advertising is a PZ77U which is a model just released and full 1080P thus the big increase in price and what makes the $1700 price crazy. |
