Ok people just came from Sears and bought a Panasonic Plasma 50" TH-50PX75U for $1214.99 Plus tax. This is a in store special only. No hassle or arguments. Sears currently has a sale if you but any 50" tv you get $250 off plus 10% off if you use your Sears credit card. So this is what the price is Regular $1999 Sale -$400 50+OFF -$250 10%CC -$135 Total $1214.99
I can't belive my eyes for such good deal. Anyway here is the link to the tv online but remember this is a instore special only.
excellent deal IMHO... with prices dropping I can only imagine what BF would look like!!

When ordering at Sears.com they charge you sales tax on the $1600 price, but you can get 2% FW Cash Back. What amount do they charge taxes on in the store?
Also the off 10% off when you use your Sears credit card, offer is for only 3 days (9-20 to 9-22)
"Sears CC Required" needs to be added to the title.

Please explain exactly how you did this....did you buy it online and pick it up in store? If so, how did you get the PM? Was the rebate a mail-in and how do you know if they'll honor it with a PM?

Can you please explain further: I bought this TV with the Sears card for $1599 -$250 off + tax on Tuesday. How did you get the extra 10% off?

Sears is running 250 off 50" tvs on Sears card since a month but this is the first time I heard of extra 10% off. Is 10% off because of opening new Sears card? I thought it was $10 off? has anybody else got it ?

I was at Sears yesterday and there were signs for the 10% off everywhere for using your Sears card. However, in the TV department it still said $150 off for 40" + and $250 off for 50"+ I think. I am surprised to see that the OP got both discounts applied as I thought it was just one or the other. Good for you OP, but I have a hunch your salesperson was really really nice!

I like the 24 months with 0 interest deal you can get with the card, but I think you have to choose that or the discount.

Last week these were the same prices, except if you bought unline with Sears card, you qualify for a $500 mail in rebate. Not sure if the online promotion is still going on, but its worthwhile to check.
You have to choose 0% financing or $250 off INTANTLY. You can get the 10% off on top of that.
However, this Panasonic 50" picture quality is not very good. It was probably the worst one out of all of the TVs on sale. Under $1300 is a killer price but I passed based on what I saw.
I really liked this Samsung for $1669 out the door but haven't done any research to see if that is a good price...

The Panny has the best picture. In the store so many people mess with the settings that they all look terrible. NEVER buy a TV based on the picture you see in the store.
I agree with you on not buying based what you see in the store. But I also know that the stores have all their TVs hooked up to an HD signal and they usually look better than they will when you get them home and put on a regular DVD. I wouldn't want to buy one that looks bad in the store and expect it to be better at home. Especially for the Sears 15% restocking fee that takes affect as soon as you open the box.

That's why you research carefully, and then use the avsforums and/or a picture calibration disc to create the best picture when you get home. When every piece of feedback on the internet regarding Panasonic plasmas puts them at least in the top 3, if not the best plasma displays, then what it looks like in-store really doesn't matter. Maybe you just don't like the way plasma looks, which is simply a matter of personal preference, such as my personal disdain for DLP.
I'll be waiting till BF to see how the prices are on 50 inchers. I doubt there will be doorbusters but you never know.

I agree 100%. I did my research using AVSForum and then purchased a panasonic plasma seeing all the rave reviews. It looked terrible at the store. Bought it anyways, took it home, put in DVE Calibration disc and picture looked great. Fed it with a HD DVD player and Directv HD. Picture is gorgeous.
UncleBee, you said it yourself, they feed the plasma with a HD source, and you bring it home and hook up to DVD player. Your not comparing apples to apples. Why not hook it up to a HD source yourself when you get home and then be blown away by the clarity. DVD is only Standard def and hence it doesn't look as good as High Def. I'm going to run out tonight and try to pick one up for my dad. Was going to buy at Fry's online, but shipping and tax kills the deal for me. Thanks for the post OP.

I have last years model of this television. For those of you on the fence this is a great price. The picture is outstanding. For those worried about 720p vs 1080p, 50" is what some would consider the sweet spot for 720p. BTW, I got mine shipped from Amazon for $1600.00 about five months ago.

Panasonic 50PX75U
Bought tonight via 1-800 Sears website using the email I received from Price Match.Wanted to buy through website but just couldnt get rep to price match correctly after the fact. Had to cancel order 2X before this one went through to my "cheap" ass satisifaction....
$1599 less 10% Sears card discount till 8/22 Price matched $1299 to Frys.com (didnt add shipping! Yeah!)but only price matched to the $1439 less PM $154 (credit back to Sears card) less $250 Sears card rebate less $200 Panasonic rebate (I own a 42" and actually received the $200 rebate in 6 wks the last time Panny gave this rebate, submitted a receipt from my local contractor for install)
This might sweeten the deal? Panasonic has this rebate valued at "up to $200" for installation of their HDTVs (and the TH-50PX75U is listed)...
How to claim your up to $200 Installation Fee Rebate:
1. To receive up to a $200 rebate on installation fees you must purchase a select Panasonic Plasma HDTV from 9/1/07 through 10/31/07. In addition, delivery and installation must then be completed from 9/1/07 through 11/30/07. Installation includes wall mounting or placement on a stand. 2. Return this completed form, along with a copy of your sales receipt with the purchase price circled and your installation/delivery receipt. IMPORTANT: You must cut out and include the original label from the Plasma HDTV carton, which includes the UPC code, model number and serial number, or your claim cannot be processed. If a claim is denied for any reason, resubmission of all requested materials must be postmarked within 30 days of denial, only one resubmission attempt per claim will be allowed. 3. Only handwritten responses will be accepted. No stickers or preprinted address labels. Product must be new and un-used. 4. Offer valid for purchase of a select Panasonic Plasma HDTV made from 9/1/07 through 10/31/07 along with delivery and installation to be completed from 9/1/07 through 11/30/07. All claims must be postmarked by 12/31/07. 5. This offer is only available to the end user and original purchaser.

To get this rebate don't you have to order installation services from where you buy this? They ask for a delivery/installation receipt- what if you simply load it on your truck and bring it home?

Then there is no rebate for you. The rebate is only good if you are going to pay someone to deliver and install the TV at your home. It's not free money. You get back up to $200 of what you spend on delivering/installation.

If you bought that set in-store you may have problems with your rebate (250.00) as the rebate states that you must purchase teh set from Sears.com.

Exactly- is this a made-up post- what he calculated in his head if he pulls the trigger - because his post is way off. Sears.com turned down my effort to PM off Fry's 999.00 42 inch price and he is saying he got the PM, then he also got this installation rebate? Its posts like that send people scurrying around chasing their tales...Not good.
If you bought that set in-store you may have problems with your rebate (250.00) as the rebate states that you must purchase teh set from Sears.com. My local Sears has the $250 off advertised in their newspaper sale ad this week, so if you buy in-store, you should be fine.
They also charge for delivery in town, so the Panasonic $200 rebate should cover that - it doesn't lower your overall price if you pick up in-store and take it home in the back of your truck, but if you want the convenience of delivery and set-up, then this rebate is a good deal for you.

(I ADDED DELIVERY FOR 65.00 but Panasonic has a 200.00 Rebate for Installation and Delivery. So will net another 135.00 off. They ar ealso offering 1 year free In home service and 100.00 coupons for free Dominos if you buy 200.00 and over worh to f audio or an hdtv set)

You are not going to receive $200 rebate from Panasonic if you only paid $65 for the delivery and setup. Note that the panasonic is UP TO $200.. Not $200! It's still a good deal if you only get $65 back because it saves you the hassle of having to pick it up yourself.
This is a great price for a very reptable brand of plasma. I have the 50U purchased over 2 years ago and it was worth every penny (even at 3 times the cost of what it is now).

I just went to a Sears store. The representative said I can either take the 10% off + 250$ off, or the price match to Fry's $1299.
He said the system didn't allow to combine the price match and searscard discount.
Any suggestions?

While this is a decent set, I'm planning to try to get Sears to PM tomorrow's BB circular (yea, I know, it's a price mistake) for the Panasonic TH-50PX77U, which is the newer version of the model from this deal. Couldn't find it on Sears website, but should be in-store (since Sears carries the TH-50PX75U, which is the previous model, it's fairly safe to assume, but I could be wrong.) IF I can get them to do it, I should be able to get it for around $1,400 and change, which is a steal for the TH-50PX77U...

OK - Thanks for clarifying that...I would have never went for a 720p though in my main viewing area- this is going to go in an area where i just want the hidef satellite feed (no blu-ray watching in my office)...for 1215 or so before tax/delivery charge I am amazed at the value for this...

You are out of luck on that- I had the same exact situation. Their cash register automatically will not apply the 250.00 instant and/or the 10 percent discount when they do a price match. So you come out almost a 100.00 ahead by NOT doing the price match. This is a stellar deal as it is rare to have these kind of store discounts, of this massive proportion on an already sale priced item, simply by using their store credit card... (385.00 in discounts plus the tax you save from that) so don't sweat it too much, Black Friday or no I just don't think this deal is goign to be beat any time soon. Plus- no BF lines, crowds, etc, waiting til then to get it.

If this set is anyting like the 50px50u you are going to be more than please with HDTV and HD DVD. I have an HTPC connected to mine via 1080i and the picture is great for DVD and HD DVD. You can't get the 1:1 ratio for Windows Desktop because of the 720p but the picture is still amazing for the price.

ARRRGGGHHHH! I bought my 50" Panasonic on Oct. 9th and the deal was good Oct. 11-20 and I picked up my TV on 15th. I'm not trying to be greedy, but an additional $135 off is something not to turn your nose up.
