Massive Update to previous post due to deal change at Best Buy.
Combination Page Select New/Yes for everything but home audio. Good for $500 savings.
Purchase the following: 1) DirecTV HD reciever (don't worry, you'll return this) 99$ 2) Panny 42" $1199 Edit: Price increased to $1249 4) Installation $200 (may vary) 5) Xbox HD-DVD player $179 (note: NOT specifically excluded from this deal! Alternately get this standalone, adding $70 to your total price below, or simply don't get an HD-DVD player and subtract $79 from the total prices compiled here)
Total price: $1727. Instant savings: $500. New price: $1227
Get 2% back as a reward zone member ($21.56), or 4% back with a BB credit card or as an RZ member with other 2% back card ($43.12). With a new BB credit card, you also get 2 years at 0% interest (see optional savings at bottom) Link Valid thru at least 10/6/07.
New price: $1182
Return the DirecTV set top box and cancel your contract with them. Cancelling the contract is easy and by phone (within the first 30 days, prior to installation!). You may have to sell the box for ~$80 on eBay, Craigslist, or whatever you prefer (these are resellable). Some posters suggest this doesn't work, listen instead to FWers who have actually done it without difficulty (including OP). Some posters in previous thread said purchasing this unit wasn't necessary to get the discount, but this, as the return itself, is YMMV.
New price: $1100
Submit a rebate to Panasonic good for up to a $200 installation (conveniently, that's the charge in many places). Rebate Here It's fun to note you actually made $100 to have BB install it. The link to the .pdf was removed from the Panasonic site, so it might be a good idea to download/print the file ASAP.
New price: $900 ($822 without the HD-DVD attachment)
Awesome YMMV update: there's a 10% off coupon from USPS as detailed here. This will bring the price down another $70-125. (10% on your now $700 TV, or if applied first, %10 off your $1249 TV) Props to NightShopper.
YMMV New price: ~$810
Optional for extra savings: Instead of paying upfront $900, put ~$810 in a high yield savings account and pay your new BB card from this account, gaining the remaining balance as earned interest. Remember, two years at 0%!
Final Price: Under $810 (plus tax on around $1027 in most areas)
BONUS: If you do get the Toshiba or Xbox HD-DVD player, you are eligible for 5 free HD-DVD movies. Link valid from 10/1/07
YMMV return possiblity: Since each discount is taken from the TV price, if you get an idiot CSR later and return the HD-DVD player, and set top box, your price for the tv plus installation would be extremely low after the rebate. I leave debating the ethics of it to other, better folk.

I purchased this TV about 3 months ago. I couldn't be more satisfied. I know it is a 720P but the picture is flawless with Dishnetwork HD box. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a good quality decently priced HD Plasma.
dilloninau said: I tried to get in on this today (10-1-07)and it appears that the TV is no longer on sale - price was $200 higher.
It is 200 higher than last week at $1049, but it rings up at $1249 right now. Given that you can get the tv and an HD-DVD attachment (provided you have a 360) for under $900, it's still a decent deal, but not nearly as good as last week's.

Looks like its $1,099.00 at CC now, Im gonna try to get it price matched tomorrow.
EDIT: Wow, looks like its $999.00 at Fry's, even better PM possibilities. Its specifically stated that you cannot PM with the HD advantage offer though so YMMV.

Is it possible to combine pricematching and hd advantage? Thanks.
There aren't any Fry's on the East Coast, so is it possible to call BB to have them PM this TV set to Fry's and then call back a couple of minutes later to change my order to In Store pickup (to a local store)? Has anyone ever done this before?

If you look at the original posts from Novermber 06 on a similar deal, the whole point was to PM and then to get the flat $600 off. I actually managed to PM Circuit City (TV was 1599) to 1299, use a 10% off Circuit City coupon (1169) and THEN they took the 600 off for a final price of $569 on the TV. This year's deal says specifically that they're not to do that, but it did work last year and is worth trying. I basically got 65% off the Best Buy price on that TV. I'll post my 06 receipt if the scanner gets freed up here at work.
It's still worth a try. Especially if you've got a buddy at Best Buy who isn't too attentive to fine print.

Well, my mission failed horribly but im still hoping to get a successful PM before I just return the damn TV.
1. They wouldnt give me a PM in the store, it was either HD-Advantage or PM. 2. They wouldnt give me the $1259.00 sale price, they charged me the whole $1399.00. assholes. 3. They wouldnt count the Xbox HD player as part of the HD discount. I asked multiple times for the manager to show me where in the T&C's it said that, but he just insisted i couldnt do it. 4. The part I thought would be hardest- the Directv part, was easiest. I got on the phone with DirecTV and actually disconnected it (lol) and was talking to myself.. He asked for a confirmation number so I just made one up, they are 8 digits and he didnt even input it anywhere. asshole.
Im having a horrible time trying to PM over the phone or even trying to cancel the Installation (they charged me 300 bucks, assholes).
Good luck. . If anyone has had a successful PM, could you tell me which store? Maybe I could try calling them.. or maybe post a scan?

I tried this as well. You can't price match (it says that in the ad for the deal), you can't get the 10% off, you can't add in the XBOX HD DVD Player.
For the DirecTV part, the DirecTV representative on the phone said that if you cancel you have a $300 cancellation fee, maybe this meant canceling after installation but it wasn't a chance I was willing to take.
The best you can do is price match the TV with Circuit City for $1100 and then get the $150 installation. Then you have the $200 installation rebate for a grand total of $1050 without the HD DVD Player.
There is no HD Receiver needed to be purchased for the deal to work, I'm not sure why it's in the OP.
I still got the TV for $1050, but I am going to return it. Just not a real good deal. I'd rather get a 37" LCD for half the cost.

Okay, Best Buy on Sunday will drop the TV to $1250, as in their ad is the TV for $1250.
$1250 - TV $150 - Installation - $400 - Instant Savings $1000 Out the door price - $200 - Panasonic Rebate $800 Total + Tax
I am thinking of going back and trying the DirecTV deal. I need reassurance on the cancellation - when I was on the phone signing up for the service, they told me that I would be charged $300 for cancellation. Is that only applicable after installation?

When they hand you the phone, simply unplug it and talk to yourself. They ask for phone number, address, CC info, and make up some other stuff to seem like your really talking with some1. Your account number is what the BB person will ask for (if they do) and its simply any 8 numbers. I personally did this and my sister was right next to me.. when I told her I was talking to no one she couldnt believe it.. haha.
CCity has same TV for $1099. DOes anyone tried to PM?

Price Match doesn't apply to this deal. You either get the price match or the DTV deal.
I don't know, I don't really want to lie to the BB representative. And if they find out that I faked the account number/conversation, I am sure there will be some sort of ramifications.
YMMV, Return this item, YMMV, sell this item on eBay or CL, YMMV, Use this coupon you get from place y, YMMV, cancel this contract, YMMV
THESE ARE NOT DEALS. These are "massive" WORK and involve attempting to (ab)use every tiny agreement term on multiple things to get the lowest price as posted in the title.

This isn't a "deal" at all, its just a scam that Best Buy is aware of. I inquired about the HD Advantage program, and my store said they weren't doing it!

They saw me coming a mile away This is not up to the particular store to decide on participation. The HD Advantage program is advertised - just print flyer from BB website.

If you wanna return, just take their 1099 online price, which almost any manager in store will honor, and get the $300 DTV promotion to get it for 800+tax w/o any need for rebates as I did. But I actually needed a new DTV subscription, so I have not tried to cancel that one.

I believe that the DTV Circuit City Promotion ended 10/1 though.

Nope, I got the deal 2 days ago - 800+tax out the door (plus 20 handling fee for DTV). And according to next week's flyer, DTV promotion still works at CC. Compared to the BB deal, you don't get 100 off HD-DVD player and the installation trick does not work with CC either (too $!#$!% expensive).

I got mine for.... $450!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought the set Th-42PX75U -$1250 Installation-$150 Blue-Ray player Sony-$500 Audio-$500 direct tv box-$100 (and I did talk on the phone with myself, thanks for suggestion) Instantly I got $600 off the tv. Next day I returned everything. I also got $40 off from Best Buy rewards zone (%2) And finally $200 off the price - Panasonic rebate. Summary: 1250-600-40-200=410 + tax =450$ for Panasonic 42" Plasma Thanks for all of your help, I'm all set!!!

Does this work if you already have an account with DirecTV? I'm about to pull the trigger, but just noticed this "little" setback.

I was close to doing this deal today at CC, since the Panasonic install coupon expires today (10/31). I didn't go ahead with it because I really don't have a big enough vehicle to take it away on my own, and I will be moving soon. I'm actually wanting to get the Directv deal (I want to switch to DTV), and get the $300 off and free install and calibration from firedog (from Panny rebate--now defunct.)
I'm wondering if anyone has had luck getting the Directv $300 off deal, then going in later and price-matching when the price of the set drops. I'm sure this set will come down a couple hundred in the next month as Black Friday approaches. If I could, I would just sign up for DTV and take a $300 TV credit to CC in a few weeks and take the TV then. Problem is that I need to set up my DTV installation before I actually need to take delivery of the TV. Best Buy was very clear that they would NOT PM with the DirecTV deal (despite the fact that they are simply taking the $300 from DTV and charging full price for the set.) CC was a little bit more wishy washy about it. The kid at CC also told me it could be a problem that I had DTV a couple of years ago. From what I've heard all you have to do is upgrade to HD, even for current customers?
